290/290x availability thread

Another user on OCN posted a pic of the XFX he received from Amazon today and it's confirmed the BF4 version.

Amazon pieces are gone......only 3 left on the page but selling from a scalper for 699.

I just got my confirmation of the purchase for the stated price.

I'm in for one. Maybe someone can confirm if the sku is the same as the BF4 version.

Newegg shows the BF4 box listed in the photos on that model number:

I looked at the serial number on the XFX website.....it looks to be the BF4 bundled set.
Even if it's not....no big deal....not a BF player anyway, so if it comes with.....I'll sell it for some cash.:D

Thanks again for the tip....

I didn't pull the trigger because I didn't see anything about BF4 on the page. Oh well.

If mine comes with BF4, I'll PM you and you can have it......for a small shipping and handling fee......really......I'll be glad to get it to you.:D

I tried to buy one, but they will not ship to Canada. Also, I just noticed that the price is now 699

That's because it seems someone with a one item store front bought those 3 and re-listed them at a higher price... I'm not sure how the Amazon store front back end works, but I would imagine you are able to do that I guess.. It seems most of the people that are buying the cards are doing so to sell them, not actually use them.

I've only seen a handful listed on eBay and only a couple of sellers on Amazon. That's a fraction of the couple hundred Newegg alone sold the night of the launch.

First off, if thats the case....that sucks big. I hope they rot in Amazon hell.

Sadly. You are probably right about reselling them.

Not me brother.

Just received my XFX 290X from Amazon and it is indeed the BF4 version. Which means other retailers are price-gouging the BF4 version, considering Amazon is selling it for $10-20 less.

Says.....get it December 11.....yikes.

It didn't say that at time of post... now it's just a link to the guy who is price gouging at $699.99. Looks like the 3 are gone. I actually nabbed one when they first came in stock around 2 pm... Still waiting for it to be marked as shipped.. slated to arrive on Thursday.

WOW if people are buying them at $699 a pop. I should sell the 2 I snagged for $550:p

I am sure these fast scalper sales will be done in a week or so. I imagine by next week there will be plenty to go around.

What is happening with the price gouging here is inevitable to happen to that card as well... I know, it's frustrating...

What's more frustrating is that we must go through this same level of QQ over the price gouging from eBay/Amazon sellers for multiple product launches each year lol.

I hope you guys realize that these sellers on eBay and Amazon haven't sold but a handful of cards and that if you count current listings as well as ones sold that these so called scalpers are not preventing you from being able to buy a 290x. You're doing that all by yourself by not being available when the cards show up in stock.

Also I don't think most of you even realize how high of fees Amazon and eBay charge sellers. Most of these guys on eBay for example which from what I can see in the completed listings are going to be lucky to make $30 on their $700 sale from the 290x they got off Newegg.

Maybe, maybe not. AMD has launched this card with an absurdly low amount of stock. I don't remember 780s, or even the 7970 being this hard to get. 7970 was quite hard to get around launch but they still came in daily. Newegg has basically been out since launch save for a few other brands that trickled in the next day.

Hopefully stock on the 290 is better because that card is going to be in even more demand I assume.

GTX 680, GTX 690, GTX Titan all very limited availability for weeks after launch and the GTX 780 and 7970 didn't have great availability the first week of their launch either. And guys the 290x just launched on Thursday and weekends are non-business days so it has even hardly been available for 3 days lol.

Wait a minute. Really.
Im supposed to feel bad about some asshat who's trying
to screw people by price gouging.

Nope.

What gives this eBay guy license to hose people?

Sure its the way it is
These things always happen and someone is desperate enough to pay.....but that doesnt make it ok.

Ugh the XFX 290X came in stock at Newegg about 20 minutes ago, either is sold out super quick or they only got one. By the time I clicked order and put my three digit CC code in, it was sold out. Even got an order confirmation and a then a cancel.

Soooo close to ordering one of the $500 780's....

What I dont get , and never have is the random nature of product availability on newegg.
No standard time. No rhyme or reason.
Sometimes 0400, sometimes noon, 1700 you name it.
Totally random and fleeting.

Do you guys think the 290 will be at $400? I mean shit, you can get 80-90$ alone by selling the games that come with the GTX 780.

One thing I found works quicker is to use your smartphone. If you are signed in at newegg and have a CC stored, its a one click operation.

and..........dances quietly around the room......"Your Amazon.com order of "XFX RADEON R9 290X 1000MHz..." has shipped!"

Yippeeee and thanks alot to BurningGrave101.:D
