Grand theft auto V thread.

Yeah I hate the garage system in GTA.

Nothing more annoying then spending money and time upgrading a car, picking out a neat pain job, tires, allt hat stuff, then you drive it about, go on a mission, and have to change vehicles or something happens and then bam, it's gone for good even though you had it saved in your garage.

Saint's row has a much much better system, I want to be able to take my customized car and just drive it around without worrying if I will ever see it again.

Just have the garage simply respawn a new one after one day as passed (if you aren't driving it).

also bummed there are no heists after the game is over, only way to make any money is playing the stock market the missions you can do for your properties pay out shit like arms runs with trevor ect oh joy 5-7k each run gonna get rich off that... it makes the crew system useless when theres nothing to use them on. why cant we still rob a few new places and get some sort of repeatable ones to make some money, its going to take for ever to make 150m to buy the golf course.

I hate the garage system too. After spending all that hard earned money I was like if I drive it and it explodes or I have to leave it somewhere I will probably never see it again so why even bother? Whatever cars you save in your garage should always be there no matter what.

I watched a stream today where someone pulled a heist and netted 400 million, then turned around and invested and had about a billion. Investment is a key thing in this game.

except that none of the heists in the singleplayer net 400 million, not even close.

it doesnt do it all the time for the most part its fine but if i go driving into the city at full speed in a fast car the game cant keep up with the loading and i can run into instances where no buildings or textures or even roads have loaded in yet and i can fall a few feet below the road until the game catches up with the loading and it puts me back on the surface.
Wow, I would say it must be your 20gig drive. I upgraded to the 120gb bitd and I have not had that problem.

I bought the property with the sub last night and I have been going around collecting waste. $23k a pop isn't too bad. It will end up netting $690k. Plus it has the added benefit of playing around underwater and let me tell you, underwater is completely another world. It is HUGE with all the depths and little things you can find. I took some video and plan on throwing some of it up on youtube.

I can't stand the underwater areas, its so dark and claustrophobic.

Yeah I agree -- this annoys me. Why spend money on car upgrades in a game where I go through cars like water?

Were the cars stolen though? The one that people are complaining about having been upgraded, and are now gone? Or is there a bug where no matter what, if you throw a car in a garage, it's gone (if you don't own the property?)?

Mine are stolen.. but the game is called Grand Theft Auto. Ownership is 9/10 of the law and I owns me a lot of cars.

Ah, alright, as I read a while back that stolen cars aren't saved in garages, but if you buy it via dealership you're fine.

Makes sense. On a related note, I guess my problem with the GTA games has always been that I don't really have enough patience to "save up" and get all the cool shit (in this case, cool cars). I tend to slowly lose interest after driving around the city a thousand times. Still playing V but we'll see. State of Decay is calling my name.

You've beaten the story though, of course?

No, not yet. Like I said, still playing. Even with the story though you do do a lot of driving around the same streets. The satirical banter also starts to get a little annoying and the jokes start to seem forced and flat. Also -- Trevor is an incredibly annoying character. Hearing him talk/scream at everyone gives me a headache.

I'm not saying everyone has the same issues as I do -- it's clearly a very popular game that provides lasting enjoyment to many a player. Also, it's a great achievement for the developers and I should balance my personal critique with the fact that it was $60 well spent.

I can definitely feel my attention slipping, though.

I guess it's just different strokes for different folks really, not just this game, but all games in general. My interest never seems to drop, even after many hours doing the same thing in this game. If I were you, I'd just at least finish the game, then move onto the next. Nothing wrong with that.

I plan on finishing the story. I also tend to think that sometimes the more you invest in games, the more you get out of them (somewhat paradoxically from my earlier comment). Hoping that's the case here.

I will say this: the heists are pretty damn fun.

I would amend your statement to say that heists are fun when they don't require helicopters.

For me it's not a problem of cars not "saving" in the garage (IE if you put it in the garage and then walk out without driving it).

It's the problem of driving your vehicle, then either damaging it so you can't drive it anymore, having to hop into another for a mission reason and leaving it behind, etc and then "losing it," Once this happens it's gone, it doesn't re-spawn in your garage and there's no way to get it back if you lose it.

It should be where once you "store" it in your garage it's saved there, and if you lose it and leave it somewhere and can't find it the garage will still have it in there and if it's blown up or whtaever you can just pay a small fee and get another one out of your garage.

This way you don't fear losing it and can "joyride" with your customized cars without fear of blowing them up and never seeing it again.

You'd think they would've learned since GTA4 over five years ago. I remember finding rare cars and then I'd put them in the 'save' parking space outside Niko's place and end up never driving them again so I wouldn't lose 'em.

Even if you did drive it and didn't let it out of your sight, some missions yank you out of your car and put you in another one and its nowhere to be found after the mission.

On the bright side it does seem if you park the military jet and helicopters at Trevor's airfield that you can crash them and they'll keep respawning there.

That'd work. They could even say "your insurance replaced your car" or something.
Maybe you can get more money after you beat the game in a DLC

I think the stock market is a must. If you have a few million, you can drive it up quickly. Just don't do certain missions (see below for small spoiler) until you have a ton of money. One trick is to buy FlyUS stock and then go to the airport, blow up all the FlyEmu planes. Sell stock & profit. Same with destroying the burger joints warehouse.

Also, I do think they should have included some open ended heists. Like how they have the markets and stuff. Just have banks. The armored trucks are hard to find.

Seems fine to me, does your tv support a 'game mode'? Or are you on a monitor?

Been playing on two different TVs. One is definitely worse than the other but the lag is still there and makes the already sub-standard free-aiming intolerable.

Welcome to console gaming. I love the game and think it is up there with Skyrim, Far Cry 3, etc. But HOLY fuck the framerate is terrible. Not only that the game has an aim assist that is insane.

GTA 5 = drive around, let the game do all of the shooting, and see shit. Can't wait till this is out on the PC so I can play the other half of the game without it doing it for me.

There is definitely input lag when you compare to something on PC. It's not horrendous, but if it was a competitive online shooting match, it'd be unacceptable. For just driving, running around, and the auto targeting/shooting system it's acceptable.

Not sure why everyone is so upset about the car in garage saving being realistic? It was exactly the same way in GTA IV. If you don't want to lose the car, don't crash it or do missions in it and abandon it, just like IRL. Having it respawn all the time would be unrealistic.

Right but atleast let it stay at the location of where you left it or if it get towed, drive to the impound lot and pay to get it back.

You forget this is a video game right? There is hardly any realism in this game

Stolen cars can be saved just fine. I think it mostly depends if you have spent any money on them and do NOT save them in your house garage. The only car that will come back from that is your white charger you start with. I went out stole a new Adder last night and completely modded it. I then went to do a Lester mission and as soon as I got off of the phone my car was missing. I was pissed but after the mission I checked the impound and it was there.
I promptly took it to my other garage and saved the game then quit for the night as it was late.
I have never had a problem with the extra garage I got for being on the SocialClub site.

Being a video game doesn't mean it needs to be unrealistic. I'm just saying it would feel weird and very arcade to me if the car that I just crashed 1 minute ago would reappear in my garage.

I haven't played the game yet but I played GTA IV a lot and I never thought that the car saving system is not how it should be, which is why I'm confused why so many people want their cars to infinitely respawn.

The impound lot is a good point. I don't get attached to any cars I steal, so I don't really care, but anyone who's had a car gone missing, have you checked the impound lot?

Its probably because we've been spoiled by the Saints Row car saving system. Every vehicle you park in the garage is automatically stored along with all of its upgrades (no limit on the number of cars as far as I know). You can also recall any car from any garage (or have one of your homies deliver it to you). Saints Row's gameplay is much crazier, in general, than GTA though so I don't know if its car system would fit GTA V quite as well.

I think if GTA V just added an insurance system though that would be a perfect fit. Your car blows up or goes missing, you have to pay a deductible and the insurance company replaces it. The deductible could be proportionate to the value of the car and its upgrades so its not entirely trivial.

Micro-transactions confirmed.

Reputation and Cash Flow: Reputation is earned from all your online exploits in everything you do in GTA Online – and will help you rank up, providing access to new features, weapons and criminal contacts. Spend cash you’ve gained on cars, clothes, guns, properties and much more. You can either quickly accumulate cash through profitable activities like knocking over armored cars, winning street races, doing stick-ups or a host of other cash-making endeavors – or if you’re the completely instant gratification type, you can choose to buy denominations of GTA$. You will have the option to purchase GTA$ through the in-game Store. The game and its economy have been designed and balanced for the vast majority of players who will not buy extra cash. There is no in-game paywall and nothing that should disrupt the balance of the game. You don’t have to spend real money to attain the cars, guns, clothes, flash and style of a high-roller in Los Santos, but can if you wish to get them a little quicker. The economy is balanced differently from the single player economy, and cash earned in one cannot be taken over to the other. Most players will earn cash much faster Online than in Story Mode.

It sounds like you can earn every thing in-game and the GTA$ option is only for those that don't want to put time in. Sounds fine to me.
