Grand theft auto V thread.

Paper? The cars felt heavy in gta 4 (you know like a car) they were difficult to stop at high speed they also had body roll and with collisions that felt realistic. If you want dumbed down physics and none of these things in favor of "control" you're going to love gta 5.

Ehm, you hit 1 tiny bump in the road and you went flying across 90% of the map. Also, when the Comet already starts spinning out of control when you just hit the throttle, you know there is something seriously fucked up. This wasn't "realistic" physics at all.

My car can stop much faster than any of the ones in GTA 4, using "S" to brake barely did anything most of the time.

I never liked GTA. Controls stink. Acting is horrible. They try to add so much, but it's just sub par. Overrated horse manure I think. Enjoy your game though.

They act like it doesn't exist because they don't want people sayin "I hold my money for the PC version" They want as much people as possible to buy it on release for the console. Also the console version is more expensive, I think they have more profit on it, even with royalties.

But since I can't play a shooter with a controller, I have no choice.

I think they could easily sway half of the people waiting for the PC version by adding keyboard/mouse support to the console version. I'd go buy it day one that's for sure.
OMG this and I'd still buy the pc port aswell for the mods alone.

Don't really care if it was completely realistic or not all i know it was far more entertaining then what is in its place now. The old system could have been tweaked for more grip or control but still had momentum and the physics in place.

Brb rolling around like a ship in a sports car, flying across the entire map after a tiny bump, not being able to break effectively at all. Once you got car mods it became really frustrating because it was almost impossible to not hit something unless you were driving really slow. And like I said, mods tried to tweak it and it didn't work that effectively. I had one mod(I forget which one) that was actually ok, when you would break it would actually stop in a decent amount of time.

Why are you guys playing GTA games for realism? The whole thing is ridiculous. You want to play a driving game go buy Forza.

Why would anyone want to play this on dated hardware with crappy consoles with 10 year old graphics? They should have had the PC version done right along with console versions. Stupid.

I'm not, I was just stating how the physics were rubbish in GTA 4.

I think the sandbox element of GTA is great but as an actual game it sucks. The story, the missions, and the overall game play usually sucks. The melee fighting mechanics suck really badly, the shooting mechanics are really bad, and the driving is among the worse. I never could finish GTA IV because I would get game breaking bugs on story missions where I cant do anything but start a new game so I gave up.

I think most people buy it for the sandbox. I think GTAIV was a low point for story and gameplay, but I got my money's worth out of the game.

The bugs in IV were pretty inexcusable though.

The port of IV overall was pretty inexcusable. I mean, at least they released a PC version but after a couple patches (ironically) it was barely playable for me.

Because Rockstar. Their games are an experience, cheesy as that sounds, and from the videos I've seen so far this truly is the best R* game ever. And thats coming from a dyed in the wool PC gamer. Its a close the blinds, tell your sister you won't be designated-driving her "chick's night", tell your boss you'll try to make it back in next week, order enough pizza and beer for three days experience.

Some of the comments here honestly make me wonder if some of you guys have maybe been living in the woods too long. And thats not even factoring the brain surgeons that already admitted to pirating it only to look down their noses and proclaim it dog crap "it was marginally sub par at best, the car handling handling was NOT up to my high, jerking off with a racing wheel, virgin standards".

Too much whinging going on here. Did you all wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

GTA IV had those same glitches where you would go flying if hit by a car and I found the car controlling in IV too heavy compared to SA.

No one is asking that. Think gta 4 still sets it self apart from the other games out there because it at least it attempted to emulate the perception of real life physics and not just completely over the top gamey atmosphere you get in every other sandbox game now like saints row.

It's really not a game to get all that hyped up about like gta 4 was with its massive engine update and mechanics. I didn't have all that high standards for the handling this time ever since they announced they were trying to make the game easier for everyone. Maybe R* should have spent a little time playing their competitor's games instead of blowing 100's of millions on a ad campaign.

Just Cause or Sleeping Dogs do a far better job then gta 5 does on the arcadey car handling. I just think that there are games out there now that have really taken the steam out of the untouchable GTA train especially when they haven't improved upon certain aspects and even went backwards in others. I'm sure plenty of people will still enjoy this game though just not me when there are other options out there, I still would take a port of RDR over this any day for pc.

Those games have nothing on GTA. They all fall short as a complete package when put up next to GTA 5.

You keep saying this over and over. If you have to keep saying it, it doesn't really give you credibility.

I didn't realize anyone was keeping track, but this really isn't about me. The point is I'm not blinded by glass-half-empty PC elitism, nor losing sleep that a PC version *should* exist but doesn't - squirting tears over stuff you have no control over doesn't do much.

So what exactly was your point? That a PC version would be superior graphically? Well that's very profound. Meanwhile a PC version doesn't yet exist, and miraculously, the fact won't preclude me from having fun with this game on a console.

My point is you sound like a Rockstar apologist all the while prefacing it with "I'm a die-hard PC gamer" as if that makes your opinion more valid. I really don't think there's any reasonable conclusion to draw from no PC version on launch other than playing silly console-exclusive money games, as LeviathanZERO and Q-BZ already pointed out.

Yeah, Rockstar can be Rockstar and do what they want, but we have an equal right to call them out on their bullshit.

I was watching the stream and then this happened...

O_O

this sold me...

We actually own 10 trucks like this in our quarry.!

I feel bad for The Last of Us. It was game of the year right until GTA 5 showed up.

There are a lot of videos of gameplay all over youtube now. Most of them look like someone that has no idea what to do, lol.

I've played both and wouldn't be able to say which deserves GOTY as they're both amazing. If GTA V's multiplayer is as good as they're hyping it up to be I'd vote for GTA V. Otherwise it's to close to call.

Man, I want to play this game. It looks awesome. But NO PC RELEASE as of yet!

pain in the ass rockstar...

It seems likely that it will see release (unlike RDR, unfortunately), but I'm just hoping it doesn't take ages to get here.

Multiplayer? You don't play R* games for the MP. :)

That said, I've watched many streams of Last of Us multiplayer and looked lame as hell, 4v4 trying to get the jump on each other, real boring real fast. GTA online looks like it going to be a totally seperate beast from GTA5, not much relation between the two but the open world aspect in the MP trailer did look impressive.

I don't understand the whining about gameplay mechanics. I'm not a GTA fanatic by any means, just a casual gamer. The great thing about GTA5 is the huge open world and the fact they actually filled it with content and not procedurally generated terrain or copy paste. The reason there's so much to do in the game is because that's what a GTA game is all about - doing random stuff and exploring on your own.

Frankly, GTA sets the bar for open world games and has for a while now. Others have used the same formula but no one comes close to R* impact and sales figures.

I'm also pretty certain a PS4/XB1/pc version will be out late next year. There are already teams working on it for sure. It's not that hard as people imagine - graphics assets are much higher res and have to be downsampled to use in current gen consoles, and the rendering engine can be tweaked.

Damn, I can get it a day early, but at full price or I can get it at Toys R Us for full price, but comes with another Rockstar game $19.99 or lower and a Toys R Us $10 coupon. Decisions, decisions.

Good choice. RDR is the one reason I can never sell my otherwise dust-collecting X360 (and now GTA5 makes two apparently). RDR = Epic, epic. Amazing experience.

RDR is a great game, and the Undead DLC was pretty damn good too.

So from what I have read it seems that the Xbox version is the better version of the two, though obviously not a HUGE difference or anything, just some small differences in terms of foliage detail, etc.

However it seems that both the ps3 and xbox version only install part of the game (IE one disc in the xbox's 2-disc set) and it will read both from the HD and also the disc while playing. The drawback to this is that it will cause noise (from reading the disc) and heat.

However people have said that if you get the 360 version you can put the play disc onto a USB drive to bypass using the disc drive (and thus no noise/heat).

So I think that is what I am going to do, seems it's the best option for playing the game.

Does anyone here know of a good FAST 16gb USB flashdrive for the xbox?

98/100 on Metacritic averaged from 37 reviews (so far)

Seems to be 10/10 on most sites.
