it's official. I'm not getting anything done at work. And I'm definitely expanding my character slots.

Allows you to access crafting and the AH from the web, and I just tested this and it does work on my Galaxy S3.

Yes, this game is based on 4th edition of D&D which has moves for all classes. Even the poor fighter.
 
Game seems just okay to me. I understand it's FTP, but the graphics are holding me back from truly enjoying it.
 
What classes are you enjoying? I used to play Rogue in all my old D&D days but haven't played in years. On Dragon but just messing around so far.

Not sure how to tell what my handle is but my ingame name is Martial

I don't think there is even an auto attack at all to be honest. My cleric does not have one that is for sure, but I haven't tried any other classes yet. I just finally got my second companion and second slot for crafting, so I can do the long ones with one guy and the short ones with another guy. I'm loving this game. Hopefully there is something to do at the end, but I'm really enjoying the ride up...

Basically your handle, for adding people and whispering them, is in the format of:

CharacterName@AccountName.
 
While I agree the prices are way out of normal ranges, even for the regular stuffs (in my opinion), but I haven't had to purchase anything yet using real money. I'm level 30 and I don't PvP very often. I can see the authors point about it making PvP unbalanced though. Even though when you join a PvP match right now its like 90% rogues...
 
It is pretty lame that most things are going to cost money, but keep this in mind, you do not need to purchase ANYTHING in order to be able to enjoy this game. I know several people that have experienced a TON in this game so far and they haven't bought anything at all. It's entirely possible to play this f2p without restrictions or loss of fun, which is more than I can say for LotRO or SW:ToR.

It's still a great game to play, and I'm sure that won't change. Let's wait to see how everything unfolds.

Well, if it's anything like their other up-and-running MMO, Star Trek Online (which I enjoy), it will all come down to a time vs. cost ratio.

STO does a great job of allowing the careful F2P player of access to almost all content, it just takes time (and lots of it). As long as you don't want to respec often, can live with limited character slots, and don't have a problem grinding, there's hardly a reason to spend any money. This model seems to be working for them with STO, so I expect the same going forward with Neverwinter.
 
Not sure what's not to like about the model. You don't have to buy anything...
 
Ya so far I'm really enjoying the model. Unlike SW:ToR you don't have top pay for stuff like sprint, levels, or dungeons. Speaking of some of the player made quests are really sweet. Also if you don't mind a noobie running around I'm off for the next few days so try me at Martial@Dilanio

I was kind of disappointed when I went to create a character and I couldn't make a Fighter that was centered on using a bow. I used to enjoy the shit of that in pen and paper D&D. All the bow feats where generally amazing, and you could do ridiculous damage.

Rumors point to a possible bow-based class in the works.

This is exactly the problem I have with the vast majority of "Free2Play" titles, especially those based upon Asian Grinder/Item Shoppe paradigms - budgeting $15 (subscription equivalent) of ZEN a month won't give you close to the content provided in a subscription MMO like WoW. Worse, it usually takes orders of magnitude more (50-150 or more) to gain access to most "Item Shop" MMO contents...or sometimes just a single item; especially when that item is not available elsewhere in game!

It is really a pity; as I've mentioned before Perfect World Interactive and their monetization strategy is the worst thing about all of Cryptic's games ever since they were bought out. The games themselves (Star Trek Online has been coming along well etc..) are actually quite fun to play, and if they were run on a "Subscribers get everything" option and/or a "Guild Wars 2 style" Buy to Play market etc.. they'd be great. I absolutely hate the trend in gaming brought on by Asian "free2play" dynamics and the greed they inspire, which has obliterated the value of the MMORPG - where you could pay for complete access to the theme park/sandbox, and be able to do whatever you wanted with your time. If you wanted to kill every raid boss, fine. Fill your bank with outfits tailored from all across the game world, fine. All were equal pursuits without additional expenditure necessary.

Not just rumors.

In the game files there are mentions of both the Archer rogue, and the Scourge Warlock.

There were items for them in the beta events that people got randomly even though the classes weren't implemented.
 
I like it so far. I got 2 of the purple lockboxes so far but I hate that I have to spend real money to open them. Name is Erik Wolfsbane on Beholden if anyone cares.

Drow are coming in approximately 60 days, available to all players. However, if you see anyone in game who appears to be a Drow right now, they're actually there "Meroberranzan Renegade" (aka Drizzt Do'Urden type) Drow subrace, which is only available to those who bought the Hero of the North founder pack. As best as I can tell, MR use some of the same Drow features but have a handful of special tattoos (named Renegade 1 through Renegade 6 during creation), and possibly some other elements (skin color? Eye color?), as well as a handful of other bonuses. However, I won't be able to tell all the differences until the "normal" Drow are released.
 
The Hero pack doesn't get an exclusive race.

The Drow race they currently can play will be the same Drow race that's open to free players 60 days since open beta started. IT's not going to be a different Drow race or sub race.

However they will have the exclusive Meroberranzan Renegade background option, exclusive tattoo's, etc that let them make their character more like Drizzt in terms of background/looks, etc.

Haha maybe. I sent you a tell but had to log a little while later. Didn't see a reply from you. Just had surgery so cant sit still for long periods of time. I'll be off and on most of the day killing time will try and be around tonight as well.

For everyone else playing, make sure you do at least the daily dungeon and skirmishes, free astral diamonds basically.

Also I believe today is the last day to purchase the founders packs. I got the $60 one just for the Astral Diamonds and the pet/mount. Not required of course, but just a reminder in case anyone was planning to get one of the packages.
 
Oh good call, I may pick up a founders pack. They deserve some money for this.

Agreed, totally worth it.




I think the pay system is a bit bloated, but Cryptic is known for that, Starships on STO were like $10-15, which is rediculous too.

You might be better off buying Zen, the Zen>Ad ratio is super high atm and with Zen you can buy tier 3 mounts as well (IE the howler, which is cool and less common to see then the spider or armoured horse the founder packs got).

Unless you want the founders packs for the titleand the mounts (while the howler is less seen ATM if they stop selling founders packs it might not be that way for so long).
 
Emergency maintenance. I went and got booze, played for 5 min and bam, herpes..... Now I have to wait till the server is back up. Just shy of lvl 37.
