Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

How so? The goblin still ports out, no?

Give a tank a ring, lure out a single mob to a corner, let the tank hit until it spawns, other 3 kill go goblin.

I could see it being elites and bosses only. When they talked about it, they said they wiped on butcher because 3 spawned over the fight. With rates like that, it could only be from elite hits. That still doesn't prevent lurIng out an easy mob elite in act 3

Extra health, fire chain (kill all but 1), fast are trivial affixes on a skele pack.. Hell, if illusionist can proc it, it'd be a goblin massacre.

Decided to give the game a whirl again to see how the new patch is faring. Played for 10 minutes and found the best pants I've (personally) ever seen off the first elite I killed:

AixGotSlacks.jpg

Can you say "upgrade"?!

I'd been using those other pants because I was trying to get as much resistances as I could for iAct2 (my DH is a grenadier build...which became extremely fragile in Inferno Act 2), but it was very expensive last time I played. These should do nicely...

Arcane monk's wet dream lol

they definitely improved items. especially weapons

i still can't see the patch notes at work. So you're saying just generally, for blues and rares, the quality will be better so you're looking at more than junk after junk?

They said the gap between ilvl61/62 and ilvl 63 would be less, so I took that to mean they improved ilvl61/62 items.

Regarding drops... they never said drops would be better did they? Just legendaries, which are still slim for the good ones at 60...

I dont know the entire patch notes but a few noteworthy ones

2hander weapons are being buffed to compare to dual wielding or 1h/offhand. This is in relation to pure damage, and combined stats.

The max roll on damage for ilvl 61 and 62 items will be much closer to ilvl63. 63 will still be the best for highest dps, but the gaps have closed dramatically.

Drop rates for normal elites have been increased by about 4x. Not quality per say, but just mor chances at rares to roll better stats.

Edit: I'm sure there will still be a lot of crap, but the distribution of crap to good items of say 100 rare items will yield more 'good' items.

Gotcha, thanks.

Looking at Aix's screenshot just made me realize that the base item type on yellows no longer displays once you ID the item. I don' t know why, but this bothers me a lot. At work at the moment so I can't check myself, but does it do the same for blues/legendaries as well?

Yeah I heard people talking about that too. The problem is if you think this will work in Hell or lower, well then you're just gonna get hell or lower level loot. And well, as easy as Act 1 is, you still can't just stand there and take hits. Also reading the blog, I believe its for elites/champs and bosses by the little comment they put in there. Its not like a simple skeleton is going to hit you and out spawns a gob. I think its suppose to add an exciting curveball to the bigger encounters in the game.

Puzzle Ring (Ring) - This ring gives heroes a chance to summon a Treasure Goblin when they’re hit. The tooltip will be something along the lines of: "This ring sometimes calls forth a Treasure Goblin when you are hit."

…I bet that will prove to be entertaining during a boss fight. ;)

I could be reading to much into their cryptic clue, but it seems to OP to be spawing gobs even from normal mobs. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I can't wait till I find one of these rings. I can just stand in pretty much any damage with my wizard in act 1. Just take it till goblins pop out then murder time. In single player I can take down any and all goblins.....given no super mob is on me.

First rare drop in act 2 inferno was a 2handed ilvl 63 sword with 1034 dps, 16xx life on hit, 160 str, 157 vita, 15x dexterity.

Companions can wear rings too...

It never displayed. You eventually memorize them.

Centurion spear, darkblade, demolisher, Archon armors, etc are 63s.

Say it aint so, they finally added the ability to cancel auctions....

use at your own risk, i just lost a ring that i cancled the auction on. got an error and it never showed up in my completed auctions list.

Blues keep the names, rares don't. Legendary/sets aren't tied to a particular item quality (they have generic names like Helm, Belt, Shield, etc.)

I got 2.5 Plvls so far, after helping my bro's now faily useful WD through the rest of Act 3. No gear drops worth noting, so don't get your hopes up on suddenly having useful items. :D

Lol I've been trying to sell my inferno essences for the past 2 hours...it's not working :/

On the flipside, I'm pretty glad I kept a stash of rubies so I made my own Star Ruby (and didn't get fleeced).

Meh, I've only gotten shit again so far. The "best" items I have found were level 62-63 that had a level reducement of like 12. Other than that, just garbage. Act 2 has yet again proven that it is useless to play since I once again got the worst drops I have ever gotten. Act 3 was a bit better, but not much.

First drop from an elite in Act 1 inferno was a Legendary ilvl 61 shield - Ivory Tower. Hmmmm.......think we're seeing a trend here?

I didnt notice any difference in drops or drop quality. Seemed like the same crap after 2-3 hours of mf runs. About what I was expecting anyways.

Picked up a 2 handed Daibo that had stats that did not exist on the AH. 950 dps +200 strength +220 dex +330 Int + 160Vit +1800 LoK. Big boost from the usual

Got my first Legendary. Bul somthings Wedding band. Got lot more rares off of racks and regular mobs. Northern highlands beacon is farther from the Watch Tower.

Played 3 hours, nothing dropped. I definitely noticed the fourfold increase in drops from trash mobs. But quantity != quality. In fact I may just not pick up blues anymore. Too many town trips now.

My witch doctor VQ zombie bear build's mana regen was significantly nerfed. I can no longer spam bears endlessly. Ditched vision quest for the more traditional mana regen passive and the build is totally doable, but you really notice the lost regen during boss fights. I know VQ is often debated/criticized. I personally found the mechanic interesting, and its removal is somewhat disappointing. I would have preferred buffs to other witch doctor skills to encourage more diversity instead of the removal of the VQ mechanic.

Reaction to this patch overall: meh. The paragon system would have been really intriguing 2 months ago. Now that I'm completely over this game, it's not enough to bring me back.

I got same experience. I did an Act 1 and 2 runs, 5 stacks (I have 206% MF base) and nothing dropped.

I could tell that 61 and 62 weapons were "better", but they still sucked...

Played for about an hour tonight. Got an ilvl 61 legendary staff which was "decent" but not better than my 1h/offhand combo. Kind of disappointing. However playing with friends without negatively impacting anyone was awesome, so that aspect of the game is MUCH better.

Just played for a couple of hours, AH filter is nice, but loot quality is still crap. May check back whenever they fix the loot.

So just finished my act 1 butcher run in about 28-30 minutes gettinga bout 3.6mil xp in that run.
Thats around 7.2-7.8 mil an hour.

Going off of this, this is the time it will take to gain a level (only from the previous one)
10-11---2.77 hours
25-26---5.54 hours
50-51---10.15 hours
75-76---19.39 hours
99-100---41.38 hours
Total ---1341 hours

Act 3 probably gives much better exp/hr depending on how well i can kill parts. I'm sure we'll see videos soon on "best farming spots" for exp/hr.

Gained 4 levels after helping my bro through most of act3, all of act 4 (to get him through inferno finally) and a couple of vault runs. The pacing seems pretty good so far. When thinking about repeating that first level up ~45 times to get the final 100th level, it sounds daunting but not too crazy. I've already grinded ~9% of that in just this short while. I think everyone will be level 100 in no time.

Four levels is 0.35% of the full exp required to 100. You're 1/279th of the way there!

Hit Paragon 6 and am relatively bored. I'll probably go to atleast 10 though, possibly more, but I highly doubt I'll have the patience to make it to 20.

Played for a little while, both multiplayer and single player, and grabbed a paragon level. While it was nice to get a really useful drop off my first elite, I didn't see much else during my session. I joked with my buddy that it was like the old "come on, I'll give you the first one for free" ploy.

Inferno is more playable than before but the game still boils down to Elite Monster Deathmatch every couple of minutes, and while the odd one turns into a satisfying seemingly-epic fight, most of them are just irritating and tiresome in nature. I'd rather spend 5 minutes hacking my way through 30 monsters than 5-10 minutes fighting 3 monsters that have more impressive abilities than I do.

It's unfortunate because the D2 addict part of me really wants to like this game, but I just don't. It will take a redesign of core systems and mechanics for me to reinvest in D3 and I don't think we're going to see that any time soon.

2 hands got a very very needed buff.

been seeing them drop with nice stats all night minus the needed dps numbers which is bad luck heh.

but i saw someone post a 2 hand crossbow in general with 190 dex, 92% crit damage, 1200dps and 2 sockets for some serious crit damage gems. talk about an amazing drop.

Just curious, why do you guys still play this game? I keep hearing terrible things, and I still haven't purchased it.
