NVIDIA GK104 Coming Soon?

I can see a $299 price tag for a new revolutionary 28nm GTX670ti card with 2GB of memory. I don't see why it is so hard to believe. Cards get better and you get more for your money. That is the order of progress. For those that want to spend more money for less buy a more expensive less performing card. Nobody has to force you to pay less money for a great card. HD7970 is there for those that really want to blow money.

It's nVidia, when is the last time you see they charge less than 300 at launched ?

When the market and economics allowed for it ;). The 8800GT 512mb was a killer card and only $300. It wasn't *THAT* long ago. GTX 460 was slick, as was 560 Ti.

GTX 460. GTX 560. GTX 560 Ti. GTX 560 Ti 448 Core. All parts that kinda sorta fit the same performance bracket as the GK104 (i.e. cards based off the second-best chip).

You guys forgot the performance difference, which is right in between 7970 and 7950..

If this is true, then 300 will be very unlikely...

I never said $300, I think it'll be $349-399. Again, it goes back tot he fact that AMD priced their cards higher than the new gen cards have recently been priced. You can argue whether that pricing is correct or not (I'm sick of it) but going by the last two generations of Nvidia cards, the top-end card from the second-tier chip should be priced at $399 or less (460 and 560), and really $349 (but I think that is unlikely).

You also might have to go with the idea that since 28nm was so new in general, with the 7970 coming out in December and the 7950 in January, it might mean they came out right as the tech at the consumer level is new, which could explain possible high prices off the bat. I could see a drop though when nVidia officially announces things.

I remember top end cards being in the 500 dollar range for while now. Ive never been a fan of that myself but thtas life.

I didn't say 300 is what I thought, I said 359 to 379 max.

Well I hope it comes soon. The fan on my 5850 just died and the heatsink is being replaced by a Zalman aftermarket lol.

at this point everything is speculation. I doubt even peeps at nVidia are 100% certain about the price they gonna introduce kepler at.

I dont see how the lower end gk107 can get 105 fps on max settings and 16x AA. I just ran the bench and got 126 fps and that was using the lessor demanding of the two 16x AA options. he must have AA forced of in the driver or something because a gtx570 would have to be more than 20% fast than than a gk107 chip.

My stock 5850 was at roughly the same, P3800. Overclocked I could get it up to like P4200 and going from Q9650 (4.2ghz) to i7-2600k (4.9ghz) I got it up to P4700.

looks fake, that's a score of a 5850, lol

There are no compatible GK107 drivers for 3dmark11, which could explain the low scores.
The GK107 ID shows up in every benchmark. Looks legit.

I'm sure something green is headed or already arrived at [H].

um I think he is saying that score seems high

That card is identify as "Entry level graphics card" in the video..

To me, it does seems quite high to be a Entry level...

is that really all a 5850 can do? I get over 5800 with a stock gtx570 and I know it cant be 50% faster than a 5850.

well gtx 570 sells for $200+ bucks right now, i bought my 5850 for $105, so twice the price, 50% the performance ?, but in most games 570 is only about 33% faster than 5850,... eye-balling it,
still, i hope nvidia doesn't plan to compete with 5850 right now

If true... that is damn impressive for a lowend/entry-level chip.
Hope the high end will be as impressive (if not faster) as 7970:) It will be interesting to see all top 3D bencher divided by red and green cards...again:D

Funny thing, nvidia's cards no longer seem to be predominantly green and neither is AMD predominantly red (in fact, I haven't seen a single 7xxx card with a red pcb):D

It just a symbolic meaning that started long ago:D

The graphics cards AMD used for internal testing of the HD 79xx series did have a red PCB. The review samples though, and aftermarket cards ended up not having a red PCB. I saw both and the red PCB looked awesome. I hope they bring it back.

well the score looks plausible to me but I was just saying that he seemed be saying he though it was too high not too low. I still don't buy the RE 5 results though.

Does RE 5 use the Physx API? Does GK107 have the same Physx acceleration that is rumored for GK104?

There is growing evidence that this is fake. Driver doesn't have GK107 support and the CPU scores are way off.

Ask yourself why Nvidia would make a low end chip with such high performance and the only marketing they do is through a shitty youtube video...
FAKE

My GTX 560ti 448 scores over P7600. :D

The video looks legit and I don't see the big deal about the score. Seems like a decent score. I expect my GTX760ti to be scoring p14,000+ in my tweaked rig.

What drivers are you using?
Im using the 569.48 set.

So, these are chips that are gonna be bigger in area vs their AMD counterparts on each bracket, and people expect them to sell for less?

Huh that part i find a little doubtful, as bigger area chips = lesser yields = less chip per waffer = higher cost chips.

Other than that, we will only know when they are finally out.

^how do you figure?
GK104 should be able to tackle with Tahiti Pro and is a tad smaller according to SA. I guess that will translate downwards as well.

lol I was joking around SonDa5...
I thought you were too I might have misunderstood!

RE5 favors nV greatly, but still pretty high for a mainstream part. Could have been identified wrongly by the person who leaked it.

FAKE

The video is a leak, not an offfical nV demo. Did it really look like that to you?

Must of been legit. All the links have had their accounts closed & those that uploaded it elsewhere have also been closed as well.... can't find the videos no where now :p.
