Tell them you're not going to pay them if they don't send someone out to take care of the problem. That almost always works. We rarely ever have enough people on to max out your upload speed, so if the connection stopped being flaky, we really wouldn't have a problem... unless 1.8 brings a spike of users.

Besides my incompetence when it comes to managing the server, I've never had a problem remoting into it. In fact, I doubt even G1 sits down in front of the server even when at home. It's probably running headless.
 
I agree that we should go ahead and move the server over to Old1e.
 
Of course, we could move the 1.8 map to Old1e, and do the new, non permanent 1.8-9 map on G1s...
 
Looks like I gotta spend some time in single player so I can get an idea on how to do stuff, seeing how I just bought it 2 days ago, lol. Was on the sever exploring, man that place is cool and HUGE, nice job guys/gals :).
 
Maybe that's what I meant by the 'nonpermanent' qialification. i.e., it's a playground to test out the new updates, but not a place to make anything permanent. Whatevs. I'll be here either way, so it's up to you powers that be.

I wish we could do some events. like a creative weekend on its own map or something. I wanna blow up tons of tnt! I see tons of youtube vids with a bunch of people messing around in this fashion. why can't we every once in awhile?

We used to do it a lot more, but to be honest a lot of our best builders aren't on a ton anymore, or at all in some cases. Thats not to say the rest of us suck! But still...

It takes a certain level of inspiration and focus to do a larger scale build. If peoples hearts arent in it then it isn't gonna happen, I guess.
 
Man, the minecraft servers must be getting hammered right now. I can't even load the web page, and the client is having all sorts of issues loading.

Is 1.8 out or something? This is insane.
 
Was watching some mc vids yesterday. Pro Tip: generate a new map using key: Map11. great map.

Even worse because every time our server hiccups and boots us, we have to sit through that nightmare all over again

No, not yet. But they might be doing the changeovers/updates or something. Or maintenance etc. keep trying and it works!

1.8 preview build is "leaked" so things are pretty well destroyed atm.

I can't even access the Minecraft website now.

Lame! The site is too! They are probably doing something then. They generally do fail at most things to do with stability or the interwebs, and this is supposed to be a pretty major update, so who knows. :D

I can log in to the client but then get a 503 error trying to get to the server (i'm guessing it's not the hardcraft server but the authentifimication parts).
 
Was finally able to get logged in.

EDIT: Spoke too soon, server dumped me once I was in, and now it's time to sit through all of this again!
 
Performance is absolutely terrible in the 1.8 pre-release, I'm only getting around 60 fps.

Anyway, I really like the new Biomes.
 
only issue i have had at all is with logging in, takes a few tries sometimes. i have been screwing around in 1.8 creative alot. I made a 1,000 TNT block, fun stuff. BOOOOM!
 
The lighting is fantastic

Survival wise there is still absolutely zero reason to explore in this game

I don't know about you but I love exploring on the [H]ardCraft server, lots of cool stuff to see :).
 
Well yeah, seeing what people are making is different but didn't Notch say he wanted to do something that rewards people for exploring (in survival mode)

I still like the light

I like 1.8's vegitation a LOT looks really cool, all the vines n stuff. I'm getting better FPS in 1.8 but it's very unstable it jumps around a lot.... kinda like my internet service....

I haven't found a village yet, found a canyon/rift/cavern thingy that was cool looking...

60fps with a Core i7 920 (D0) @ 3.66Ghz and dual HD 6950s. That's pretty bad, compared to the 170-200 I was getting before. And there's quite a bit of stuttering.

Also, I love how the highest FOV setting is called "Quake Pro".

I'm loving how vast and fleshed out the new biomes/caves/ravines are, definitely makes the world better, and it certainly provided me with plenty of incentive for exploring. I'm still searching for one of those abandoned mines/ruins.

Daniel, stop posting so much, you go back and edit in your other post. Your not supposed to post more then 1 at a time. If you don't it might come across as spam and get you in trouble.
