Ok here is the test server map of the 1024 blocks around the player homes in the center. I marked a few things of interest.

1. Player houses
2. Spawn
3. NPC Village
4. Weird lava hole with loads of sheep
5. Crevasse with entrances to an abondoned mine. Fell down it while making the map :D

Anything green and speckled is forrest, andthing yellow is desert, most of the rest of it are these tall mountains. Down the bottom you can see rivers.

The directions on the map are kind of weird. Up on the map is where the sun rises from...so the sun rises from the north and sets in the south... Or you can take east as being up, north left, south right and west down...

Because of the torture we are putting on poor G1's Atom box, and Time Warner's inherent failure, I have put up a 1.8 test server on my own boxen.

what starts? I'm shutting down my test server, my connection can't handle 2 servers at once and I don't want to risk lowering the quality of the main server.

Think we could get a copy of the map? I had some caves I wanted to explore :D

I also have a fusion box I could try hosting it on but I'm not sure how my network connection would hold up.
 
It would be nice if people would stop complaining about the same thing over and over even tho it's already been stated why and it's out of everyone control here too, but that isn't happening either is it?

One of the big reasons I stopped playing is so I wouldn't be in game listening to all the complaints :)

It's not like it's a big secret, residential internet... uhh there's going to be some lag, there is no uptime garentee.





On second thought, I'll let you decide, would you rather get kicked every 10 minutes or should I just turn the server off completely until the problem goes away?

I am sorry man, I was not trying to say it in a mad tone. I would rather it be on. If hosting on non residential connection is the issue I can help out there 10/10 connection I can offer at work.
 
We are just waiting right now, Old1e offered to take over with a 50/50. So it's kinda like waiting for a update... just till he gets his server software upgraded like he wants then we can start the process of moving over.



I've got it worse then everyone tho, you guys just can't play on the one server... I can't play ANY game online, or watch any streaming at all... I've on vacation right now and can't even entertain myself.. it's 100+ outside so I'd rather not go out there >.>

When I called he said I was at 50% packet loss on the connection >.<

he said any high bandwidth activity will kick the connection, so basically... the reason the server is disconnecting is because... well the server exists for now... so... ya


I'm really really sorry to everyone, but I seriously have considering turning the server off till wednesday, it's the reason for the disconnects, they won't stop anytime today or tomorrow... I understand the issues because I can't do anything on the net either... I'm sorry..
 
Do what ya gotta do. I doubt anyones gonna die from a couple days without the main server. Everyone understands that you being able to actually use your own Internet is slightly more important.
 
Make sure your ISP credits you for that bullshit. I mean you told them there was a problem how many times before they actually sent someone out? They finally find a problem on THEIR end and now its going to take until WEDNESDAY? I'd be raising hell with them right now, I actually dumped AT&T's home phone service for less bullshit than that (well, except for the fact that I had a complete service outage and they told me it would take upwards of a week to send a technician out to fix it).
 
Well that's the problem with ISP's. They can get away with it because who will you go with? Satellite? DSL? I'm in the same boat... only one cable internet provider in the area. They lobbied the law makers so that any other company is blocked from putting their own wire on the pole. It sucks.

You've done a great job G1. You can't fret over things outside your control.
 
I say shut the server down until things are resolved. That way you can at least utilize your connection... even just a little bit.

That will give me time to finish Battlefield Bad Company 2 :)

That hasn't stopped me before. Comcast started being MUCH nicer towards me after I pointed out that I had already kicked their cable TV service to the curb and could easily do the same with their Internet service. I got a letter from the Executive office of Customer Service for that one admitting that their customer service is in serious need of improvement.:D Not only that, but they don't have to know that U-Verse is still 10 feet away from being accessible at my house (nor do they have to know that I hate AT&T just as much!)!:D

They even dropped a hardware rental fee for a modem that we probably threw out by accident years ago when I bought my own cable modem, and didn't even charge us a lost hardware fee! (But they did remove my actual activated modem from the account by mistake!:))

Yes G1, Shut it down, we can find other ways to satisfy our needs :)

For instance today I was pulling apart a 2006 Mercedes to get the damn battery cable out.... its surprising what a little oil and heat will do to the protective jacket and insulation..

I have anything related to Games blocked at my school......If you download the minecraft launcher and put it onto a usb drive, then you can plug it in at your work computer and still play! idk if you can play multiplayer or not though.

Better than my ISP. The second month I had the connection it just completely died. Went to cancel and gert a different one, but according to the contract the connection had to be off for 3 months in order to early cancel. On the 2 month and 15 day mark it was fixed...:mad: I was using 3g until then :(
 
Bad news guys. According to Mojang, 1.8 won't have any snow biomes. That's coming back in 1.9. So regardless of what we do for the map, that's kinda disappointing.
