Yes man you're right, I just want to share knowledge on the subject. Whether this slight difference in color is common and "acceptable" in this model. I don't know. That's why I ask.

Ok guess I am really unlucky: the monitor's dark gradient (from left to right) is really beginning to bother me. Should I try replacements with HP or just return it?
Having tried a total of 6 monitors so far, I am about to give up and go back to my 2333 HD as my primary and only display till something better comes along.![]()
Got the new one, same thing except the light side is on the left...this is going back
I think I'll just return the monitor : HP support confirmed unofficially that this is a 'known' issue and the chances of this unevenness occurring in a new replacement would be the same.
Have to say I'm quite disappointed: 8 screens and no go (5 2333Ts, 1 ML249H and 2 ZR24W's): I want to try the U2412H but do not want to deal with the back light leakage issues a lot of people have been having.
My trusted, old 2333 HD will have to do for some time.

So surprise, surprise, the screen became totally uniform overnight but I found one dead pixel and one dead subpixel (or may be an 'impurity') on the top.
Turns out that with HP's next day service they actually send refurbs and when this monitor was reset , the tech that replaced the screen probably put in too much pressure on the left side causing it to warp slightly and cause the issue with the uniformity and left overnight, the panel returned to its normal position.
HP support is saying they will arrange for an advanced replacement for me which may take more time but will ensure a brand new monitor: anyone ever had experience with this?
I am not quite ready to give up on this yet: but I so wish there were no pixel issues on this one, the screen has turned out great now.
i was part of the macmall deal...i just got my ZR24W
damnit i have a bad pixel....I tested it with dead pixel buddy, and its right there...everything else looks good though, no back light problems or noticeable weird color tints
what would you guys suggest? i ordered mine from macmall
I would suggest you decide if you can handle a dead pixel. I cant speak for you, but I wont keep something that isn't up to MY standards, one dead pixel isn't for me.

While I agree with you.
Would you go through 8-10 exchanges like some people are doing here for 1 dead pixel?
I don't know about you but I have better things do to with my time.
Nope, they would get 1 shot to get me one without any dead pixels, then I would return it and go with someone else.
would i contact HP or MacMall? does anybody know what their policy is?
where did you get yours from?
Off of ebay actually.
i'm guessing yours came flawless?
No issues my old eyes can see.No LCD is perfect, they just don't exist.
i guess i'll spend 15 minutes reading thru these pages...and see how others dealt with pixel problems and exchanges...
I know this might be a long shot, as this thread is pretty much dead...but for those who are still poking around, and have dealt with HP warranty before, please advise
I purchased my ZR24w from Macmall. I have noticed a bad pixel on the lower right corner. Everything else looks good though. No tint issues or backlight. But I would definitely like to get the pixel issue fixed. Who should I contact, and do you think I will get approved? I've heard HP gives you hassle for just one pixel, and other stories, etc etc....please chime in if you can...thanks!![]()
nope i never tried hp warranty. I was a dell kind of guy for their warranty at first, but the 2012m model is a gimped version of what they normally sell thats why i jumped ship on the zr24w.
