Official Crysis 2 Thread

Anyone know how to fix the input lag? IT feels like mouse smoothing is on or something.

find your crysis 2 main folder and create an autoexec.cfg inside it containing these lines :

i_mouse_accel=0
i_mouse_accel_max=100
i_mouse_smooth=0

there you go

Crysis 2 is great for what it is. No wait, it's fucking fantastic for what it is. What were you expecting, seriously?

Fuck the haters... and this kind of poorly-reasoned, barely literate verbal diarrhoea is what I'd expect from a 13-year old Youtube commenter, not a HardOCP front page post.

Must try harder Kyle.

Well, it's cool that you like it, but this game just is not anything like Crysis. Kills are thrown at you, you don't get them - just like in all the latest COD games.

I played Crysis from start to finish about 7-8 times. I loved it. There was a connection with the game - it really was great, a classic you could say.

Best analogy I can come up with for Crysis 2 and Crysis: Think FEAR 2 and FEAR.

Is it just me or is the FOV really, really narrow? It made me feel a little sick after a few minutes.

It is by default. But you can change it by creating a autoexec.cfg and use these three commands.
cl_fov=
pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=
r_drawnearFov=

Crysis 2 uses vertical FOV, so you have to use a calculator to translate it to the normal horizontal FOV.

Well, some of you may have noticed that Crytek released the 1.2 patch and to be honest, I didn't notice any fixes at all, still can't sign into multiplayer at some times and numerous people complaining cheaters and existing bugs is still present in the game.

Crysis 2 actually reminds me a lot of the two FEAR games, mostly due to the more confined environments and the increased amount of time indoors. Similar looking soldiers too.

It's growing on me since I've stopped trying to play it like the original Crysis and just take it for what it is. Fighting the aliens is definitely more rewarding this time around. I'll probably get this for PC down the track when I have a computer that actually meets minimum specs (apparently requires an 8800GT minimum).

I've been saying this from day 1. The games fun for what it is in it's own way. I know that sounds weird to say but it's true. It's a fun experience and looks nice while doing it. I wish it were a little more open sand box ish but it's not. I wish for alot of things in life but wishing isn't gonna make it so. You can either enjoy it for what it is or pass. I chose to enjoy it the way it is. Good cheap entertainment and for 48 bucks I aint complaining much. The sp is fun and the MP is as well. Take it in a light hearted way and you will see how enjoyable this as well as alot of other games can be again. Stop treating PC gaming (all gaming) as if it's serious business and watch your attitude change and your enjoyment level go straight up. Trust me on this guys.

looking at your pc configuration you don't seem to know anything about pc gaming. 3 gtx 470 on a 3.7 cpu? i haven't laughed that much in a while

Really? Why's that exactly. Because if I was running at 4.0 or higher I would pick up 5fps(if that) is that why genius? Do a little research before you spout shit out of your mouth like a moron. My fps in all games are very high which is how I like it(not to mention being able to run high levels of AA in any game) and I don't need to explain to you why I run the config I run. Laugh ehh? As if your someone here in any position to laugh at anyone. Who are you exactly again? That's funny. Bad troll iis bad. kid move along.

Edit: just noticed you've been here 14 days. Umm K. Nothing else need be said.

A: That seems pretty bad ass, and balanced, to me.
B: You have a lot of guts being a douchebag 14 days into your membership to a 5.5 year vet.
C: Don't be a dick.

I'm enjoying Crysis 2, but my rig is a generation old and I have more RAM than is needed for a gaming rig. Does that invalidate my knowledge of PC gaming as well?

Sorry, but you are clearly not part of the elite with 3 Way SLI Watercooled GTX 580s, Core I7 2600K @ 4.3 GHz, 16 GB of DDR3 and 3 30'' 120 Hz displays.

So you have no grasp on what "real PC Gaming" is...

I was called an elitist by some forum member a while back, because I had a certain set of rules for what I consider to be a true PC Game. Where is that guy now ? Would like to see what he has to say about the sort of comments above...unless of course he's part of the same group...

Those sorts of people, and those like Kash, have a tendency to have brief stays, so I doubt he's still around.

LOL I hear that. ;)

Btw...I'm all about the cool bad ass tri sli gtx 580's and the OC'd 2600K but the 3 30" displays you can keep. Bezel'd triple screen gaming to me is just, ugh nasty imo. I know I'm in the minority here when it comes to that opinion but it's just immersion killing to me. I prefer the largest single screen I can get with a nice BIG BIG res. Which is what I will be moving to at some point hopefully. Just my 2 cents. :p

Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous ain't it?

"Elitist" is just another phrase that's lost its meaning because it's been thrown around and overused so much.

If elitist means "Someone that won't lower their standards and settle for mediocrity (or less)" then I'm proud to be an elitist with no apologies and frankly encourage the spread of that attitude and supporting it with action, namely, voting with wallets.

I'll 2nd that. While I UNDERSTAND the love for Nvidia Surround and Eyefinity (worst name ever, btw) I don't share it. Playing a game through a window pane (unless a mech game) is just not appealing to me.

Same here. I'd rather have one huge ass screen with a cohesive and uninterrupted image instead of an image broken up by monitor panels.

Obviously for a lot of people: YMMV. :)

Same for me, but I'm still on a measly 20" :(. I tried triple screen and just couldn't get into it like I had hoped.

Cheapskate solution: Move closer to the screen. Move it closer to you. ;)

Ahahahaha I seriously LOL'd while eating my oatmeal and almost spitting it on my screen laughing. LOL. I guess it would be almost IMAX like if he had it less than a half a foot away from his nose? :p

hehe

Elitist, like freedom, is another word eviscerated by American conservatives. If someone isn't an ignorant dumbass dismissing all scientific evidence, he's an "elitist."

Re: Eyefinity, There are a few games where I'd likely prefer 3x30" to a single 30", if I had the money to afford either the monitors or the hardware needed to drive games on them. But I'm finding that there are very few games where I prefer my 24+27+24 to my 30". Flight sims, sure. Multiplayer FPS, usually. That's about it.

I game on my 30" which sits fairly close to me and fills a lot of my vision.

I bought a 1080p projector last week and have approx 100" screen now which I've tried games on, sitting closer than recommended gives you a full vision which is incredibly immersive and has the benefit of not having bezels and also you don't get the same kind of horrible warping you get with eyefinity with the flanking monitors and issues with distorted images if you angle the flanking monitors which a lot of people do.

I'm going to be doing a lot of my gaming on my projector now, the drop from 2560x1600 to 1920x1080p gives me a nice frame rate boost and honestly the picture looks fantastic despite its size.

I was like this for a while until I dove in and got a third monitor for portrait eyefinity. When playing the game the bezels just melt away and you don't even notice them.

It's personal preference. I actually have several larger monitors than the ones displayed on my sig (actually my sig is out of date, but I'm too lazy to update it). I just find that honestly, I can't play games on a 30" monitor, let alone on multiple monitors. Something just doesn't feel right, and I prefer to be able to see the whole monitor as well as be able to distinguish pixels.

I found that my 27" monitor is still too big for my taste when it comes with gaming, which led me to a 24", despite the fact that I prefer the higher resolution. And the second monitor connected to this system is mainly for development purposes (much easier to program with 2 monitors than 1 super large monitor).

Agree 100%, never understood it....nor could I afford it LoL.

If you want a nice big screen on the cheap, check out LCD TVs. LG, Panasonic, and Sony all make some nice low end models that seriously obliterate any TN panel out there. You can get a nice 32" 1080p TV for $350.

I personally use the Sony 32EX400, and love it. More input lag and ghosting than a TN panel, but the black levels are astounding for an LCD. I could never go back to anything smaller. I could go with a high end Dell IPS panel, but it's hard to justify both $1500 for the screen, and the 97% increase in rendering demand.

You know what, this thread is WAY of topic. Here, talk about this:

Crysis 2. Why it really is not a crisis nor a sequel.

Without triple 30'' screens you're just not 7331 enough and should just quit gaming! :p

Crysis 2. Why it really is not a crisis nor a sequel.

It was off-topic from the start with around half the pages, talking about how it lacked DX11 and that it was the most disappointing thing ever, because it lacked DX11, or because the graphics weren't on par with the original, or it was not punishing any PC by slowing to a crawl...instead of talking about the game itself.

Only half way through was the discussion focused solely on the game itself and the things that it got better/worse than the original.

for whatever reason this game runs at a higher FPS with one video card enabled instead of two. Great...?

Look at the hands of the nanosuit in multiplayer, they are horribly low res compared to crysis 1. I know whey they dropped that nice small exagon pattern on the suit, to fit those poor console video card :(

I must have been doing drugs and not have known it when Crysis ran fine on my 8600GT at lower resolutions at medium settings...

Finished the 360 version last night, took it back to the rental shop today. I didn't mind the ending and the fact it went longer than 20 seconds, and the length of the SP was pretty spot-on.

I must admit that I think Crysis 2's gameplay is better than the original Crysis; the environments are more confined yeah but the game just feels so much more structured and the set-piece battles are pretty good. Dodgy AI, silenced weapons still doing crap-all damage at range and the stealth being somewhat unreliable were my only complaints.
