Nice rig. Aren't you concerned with heavy dust and humidity? Also, how's game play with your setup? Three 27" screens is a lot of resolution for the 5770 even in crossfire.

@galaxie83 beautiful setup. I also have the above question? How's things on 2 5770's?

Resolution is not the same as screen size.

Although your location seems a fitting one to play Dead Space, I'm not sure that I'd want to spend much time down there...

Making use of a spare monitor...it's insane how bad this old 20" samsung looks after using a U2311h for a while.

I'm debating getting 2 more U2311H and removing the speakers for eyefinity but I'd undoubtedly have to upgrade (Q8200 and a single 5770).

Galaxy just needs to bleachwater and scrub down the walls, install studs+drywall.. maybe add a subfloor (2x2' interlocking plywood tiles with plastic 'waffling' on the bottom).

Also get an air purifier that has a digital timer on it so its not on all the time.... and hook a spa fan up to a humidistat to evacuate the entire basement quietly every time the humidity gets to around 60-65. In winter would almost never run.

This kind of thing.. quiet and moves a ton of sq footage of air.

Overall not really as expensive as you might think to makeover a basement like that and make it into a really comfortable place with good air quality.

Set the speakers below the monitor. Even on their side if you have to.

literally have the exact same speakers, on their sides is best for your setup because of limited space

I've thought about it and maybe I'll try it but they're supposed to be at ear level so I may end up making new floor standing speakers.

What revision did you get?

galaxie83 love the setup especially the CLD's you put on the table, made me feel right at home.

How is text on those 27" monitors?

CLD* cardboard leveling device

I don't keep people in a well down there I swear!!! lol
There is a humidifier for winter and a dehumidifier for summer that I keep going down there.
And I actually like the dreary feeling. adds to the industrial/creepy feeling when I game.

BUT I do plan on adding a wall to split the whole basement in half for a recording studio.
The half with the computer will be the sound room and the other will be the live/drum room.

I have 2 5770s in crossfire. I get about 45-50fps in dead space. and about the same in BFBC2 with mid to high settings all at 6004x1080. I have them overclocked with MSI afterburner to 900/1285

Yeah the basement floor is a little uneven lol

The text is super clear. real easy to read. I love these monitors.
I have two hooked via DVI and 1 via displayport and have not had 1 single problem with them since they were first hooked up.

how do source engine games run?

thanks for the info galaxie83 I can't decide what to get..these or the new acer 120 they are just now talking about.

Might be a price thing...but these look great.

ps I like the looks of your basement....I wish I had one.

Needs more Merī.

Maybe I should switch the U2311H for a 32" 1080p TV at some point. No point in another 30" since my notebook can't drive that resolution from its outputs.

What is the combo you have? A buddy wants to know. And when you go from monitor to monitor, are the pixels a 1x1 ratio? Like, if you go from the 30 to the 20's, does the cursor line up? Thanks.

He has the same setup that I do: Dell U3011 flanked with Dell 2007FPs. They both have the same vertical resolution of 1600 but the U3011 has pixel pitch of 0.2505mm while the 2007FPs have 0.255mm, thus the 2007FPs are 7,2mm higher => mouse jumps more the closer u are to the bottom or top of the screen (given that all monitors are centered).

But imo it's almost unnoticeable at these dimensions.

Correct. Even with the 2x 20 inch monitors powered by the 8400gs, they work without a hitch.

Agreed.

The 2007FP is the only one that I have been able to find that works though, as it is the only 20" 4:3 1600x1200 monitor I have been able to find.

I have one of these now (making it P-L) and plan on getting a second as soon as I go SLI.

Problem is that the 2007FP monitors have been discontinued (and were quite pricey at over $400 when new). If you look around you can get them used for ~$200 each. Make sure you get the IPS panel versions in order to match the IPS panel in the 30":er. The 2007FP also came in S-PVA.

Also note, the 2007FPW is a different monitor which is widescreen and doesn't match up size wise at all.

maybe i had a bad one, but my 8400GS was pretty slow running the my one 2007fp. every time the wallpaper changed, it would take 3-4 seconds and pretty much freeze my whole system. Once i upgraded to the Radeon 5770 flex, that problem went awa. it's a pretty good card for $140 too
