The ambient lighting was purchased online but I have two more 12" LED strips coming. The top of the monitor is lacking a bit. Should be totally done in 3 days. But, you get the picture..

Here's a small video:

Your going to go blind sitting that close. ^^ otherwise nice setup.

Im about 7 3/4 feet from my eye to the screen.. Not gonna be blind at all. As a matter of fact, I am oooooold.. Im too far from my screen to even read the text. I have poor eye sight and had to bump my DPI up from the factory 96 DPI to 120 DPI, just so I could comfortably read the on screen text ...haha!

Strain, fatigue and blindness are caused by doing 'something' while sitting that close to the monitor. hehe ;)

I've talked with an optometrist about it before. It's an old wives' tale that you will go blind from sitting too close to the TV, monitor, etc.

It's more likely the radation from the TV, monitor, etc will give you superhuman powers instead.

My eyes started having problems adjusting to darkness/sunlight and blurry vision. I had a 42 inch right in front of me and the doc told me to either move back or buy a smaller monitor because of the brightness. When I did that...no more problems. I only speak from my own experience :)

Everyone is different though :D

But looking at that photo of the location the mouse, there is no way it's 7.75 ft.? It looks more like 1.5 ft.

It's probably an optical illusion. It's every bit just under 8 ft. my gaming platform (floor) is exactly 4 ft. The TV is recessed into the entertainment center by 3.75 ft feet. I sit at the very edge of my gaming platform and then lean back in my chair.. So, it probably doesn't LOOK that far but it is.. also, just looking at my monitor, honestly, it doesn't even look like it's a 55".. more like a 47".

Oh, also, just a small follow up.. I finially got my additional (2) 12" LED strips in and they are installed. Much better appearance IMO. I got them here: http://www.barlighting.com/6ledstripkitremote.html

hey whats the name of the big mousepad? where can I get it?

How is the gaming with Batman and Eyefinity? Did you have to turn down a lot of the graphics to get it to run or does the card handle it pretty well?

Handles the same as when i was playing at 5760x1080 if not better. I've done a reinstall since then, so I think that may have helped. Oh yeah, and ATI...AMD's latest performance optimization update helps a whole lot.

went back to my usual, can always snag my sons other 2001 for 4800x1200 eyefinity...but I love my 3007 wfp-hc too much

where did he buy it i must get one for my desk :D

he got it from the local mall, north point mall, GA.

there's a "Japanese Store" that specializes in anime clothing, toys, cd's, dvd's etc.

If I run across another one, then I'll be more than happy to pick one up for you and send it your way...just PP me the cost+shipping haha...

Over at widescreen gaming forum they were talking about how AMD still hasn't implemented 5x1 Portrait in Eyefinity. So I decided that, for a few hours, try out what approximates 5x1 Portrait 30"rs. Text results were as follows:

Honestly i would have gotten better performance with eyefinity enabled. All I've really wanted was a nice 5x1 setup from the start. I've seen videos of it implemented, but those drivers have not leaked anywhere near the public except at conventions. I dunno why they haven't released support for it.

In summery, eyefinity should be able to do everything that SoftTH does.

Hi all, my first post here so be gentle. :)

Some awesome setups here! I've been so impressed and inspired that I finally decided to finish my own corner. 2x 2007FP's and ZR30w. Bigger table is something I've been wondering, now I had to lift my speakers quite high. Couple pics:

Love it!

I am currently saving up for a Dell U3011, and figured that down the line when I recover from the hit, I'd add a copule of 2007FP's used off of ebay to it just like you have!

In my calculations I noticed that a 20" 4:3 is going to be 0.1" larger when rotated into portrait mode than the 30" 16:10 monitor.

Has this offset proven to be an issue at all for you, or is it well within acceptable deviation?

Perfect setup, I have always loved the 20" Portrait + 30" Landscape + 20" Portrait. Too bad Eyefinity does not support that. I mainly play WoW, so what drivers are you using for gaming in that res ?

If it's SoftTH, that uses 2 VideoCards ? How does that work in a Intel Crossfire board ?

Makes me wanna sell my 3 Dell 27" I am using for Eyefinity, I feel the side monitors are just too wide, which really stretches out the image a bit much.

Actually frames are tiny bit smaller on the Dells, so that compensates it pretty well. Not noticeable if you don't stop to think about it. :)

Thanks! I tried SoftTH but WoW doesn't seem to like it, so I just use 30" for playing at the moment. I have SLI GTX 460s, and because SLI doesn't support 3 monitors I had to buy 9800GT to run the two 20"s. I don't know but my guess is that SLI & 3rd card messes up with the SoftTH.

Hmm.

How come Eyefinity doesnt support it? Won't let you rotate displays in eyefinity?

Maybe he's using nvidia boards?

SLI doesn't? I thought a single Geforce board would support two monitors, but you needed a second in SLI for a 3rd....

Eyefinity is very strict with needing all monitors to be either Landscape or Portrait mode, not a mix and match. They said last year would work on it, maybe being a possibility, but nothing new yet.

I know SoftTH works with one powerful nVidia card to handle the main display and 2nd monitor, and you need a second cheap video card just to power the 3rd monitor. But not sure if this can also be done with ATI cards and Intel Crossfire motherboards ?

Yes and no. Single card supports up to two monitors and SLI dual cards supports also up to two monitors. It only gets tricky if you want to enable SLI and use all three monitors, and I'd rather use SLI - one card can't keep up with 2560x1600 resolution. Hence the 3rd card.

Still hoping that Nvidia Surround would work with PLP-setup. Maybe one day...

Post a link to your wallpaper, please!

If you mean my wallpaper: Digitalblasphemy - Mind that you need paid account to download dual/triple/highres wallpapers. I couldn't find anything else highres enough and quite liked his work so I gladly paid for the subscription. :)

my 5850 powers all 3 of my monitors, my son uses a dell 2001fp...so those times I want to game on eyefinity, I just add his

the 3007 is on one dvi port, 1 2007fp on a dvi, and a sapphire active display port $23 from newegg) for the other 2007...since my primary use isn't gaming, it's kinda nice powering everything w/ a single gpu (hint hint nvidia!)

here are some pics of the pixels, there color distortion isn't bad...it's my crappy cell phone camera and the angle that I have my monitors that is making the colors look funny in the photos.

there is maybe less than a 1/4 of an inch difference in height as far as a 2007 in portrait and a 3007 in landscape.

when I was really bored, I run the 3x20's in eyefinity w/ a nvidia 9500gt for the 3007, just for poops n giggles.

I thought that was the whole point of Nvidia Surround was to SLI two 460s and then it is just like Eyefinity, it will span across 3 matching monitors so your resolution is all three monitors combined.

Now you are saying that you cannot do this with Surround?:confused::confused:

I haven't kept up with nVidia since my 8800GTX, been with ATI the last couple of years. But from my understanding the nV Surround is sort of like an Eyefinity setup, it needs 2 Video Cards to run the three displays, but just like ATI, all the monitors must either be in Landscape mode, or all in Portrait mode, no mix and match.

That really does suck for the tons of 30" Display owners, who could cheaply by just two Dell 2007's for like $150 each on eBay and have triple screen gaming goodness.

Soft TH makes it work, I am surprised that AMD or nVidia didn't buy out the Soft TH, and incorporate it into their video card drivers.

OMG, its Lord Nikon!!!!

LMAO

Don't you mean The Phreak? The Phantom Phreak? You know, The King of NYNEX?

By the way, if anyone's wondering where Zero Cool is, watch Dexter! I just realised who it was on the latest episode. XD
