^ Are those two separate 360 Elites I see? Very nice! The 360 on the right is white on top though... what's up with that?

Have you considered a bigger TV?

^Planning on using my Xbox360 that I am getting next month on my Sony G400, I think I may have the black bars to, what resolution are you running the Xbox360 there?

1280x720

Theres no guarantee your monitor will do the Black bars, mine JUST barely scaled to it (Vertical height at 0  )

Added new HK AVR247 receiver and htpc.
Need to center the entertainment center (yes the floor is a tad lower in the middle, the flat i live in is part of a building that was built in 1805 so it's cool with me.)

I think i'm going to add some fake plants or something to liven it up or something..

and yes i'm going to fix the cable :D

Nick,

What settings on the TV do you use to play games? Also, how far do you sit in front of the TV when playing games/watching BD movies?

Is that the X sub?

TV settings: standard picture mode, 16:9, standard sound, SRS OFF (I can't really tell a difference with it on). Everything else is default and I'm using HDMI to my 360. I sit probably 5-8' depending on the game or what I am doing. I have it angled at my chair so I just barely have to turn my head from my pc monitor and I can watch. Sometimes when I play though I move it so it's flush with its stand and sit back in front of it and play.

I like my current setup, so now I just need to get out of my crappy college apt. Oh, and I didn't have a better camera to use than the one on my phone.

Woot for budget Home Theatre/Gaming Center :D

hey is that an onkyo 605? are you connecting your ps3 via hdmi into the receiver? how is that going? im planning on picking up the receiver and using it with my ps3 also. thanks

my humble setup.. its gets the job done though. i dont have any money, so no new TV yet..
its a 32in.. got it for free. beats the 20in that i had

It is finished.

Cliffs: Just skip all the text and look at the pics.

The current iteration of my home theater actually started when I wanted to get new speakers for my PC. I ended up getting an X-LS 5.1 system from AV123 but my spare receiver was an old Technics that didn't support any modern surround sound formats and didn't have 5.1 analog inputs either. So I stole my Marantz receiver from my home theater. This started an upgrade that took about 14 months from first item replaced (receiver) to last item added (amplifier) and actually replaced every single component in my HT (which wasn't too bad to start with).

So I needed a new receiver, ended up with a Denon AVR-2807 (and a Denon 1930ci DVD player to match it), and that's what started the whole upgrade process. I replaced my 30" Samsung HD CRT with a Samsung HLS-6187 61" DLP. Next up was a 360 and a Wii. After that came a Toshiba HD-A3 and a Monoprice 5x1 HDMI switch to deal with my ever increasing number of HDMI sources (I'm currently at five). A PS3 purchase rounded out my crop of current gen consoles.

After that I decided my speakers weren't quite cutting the mustard (B&W S3s and a Infinity Intermezzo 1.2s subwoofer). I'd always been impressed with the subwoofer so I found a pair of the matching bookshelves to listen to (the Infinity 2.6) and I was hooked. I got a pair of the 2.6p (p is the passive version of the bookshelf, I didn't want to hassle with power cords since I'd be using them as surrounds) and a pair of the 4.1ts. After a couple months of watching eBay and Audiogon I finally found a 3.5c, the matching center.

For those that aren't familiar, these were Infinity's second in command at the time, with an MSRP of $7,000. The Prelude MTS was their top dog, costing a couple grand more for a pair. Each speaker has a 6.5", a 3.5" and a 1", with an internally amplified (850 watt BASH) 12" subwoofer. All the drivers use Infinity's Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm material, which is basically ceramic coated aluminum. Very light and very stiff.

The center has 2 5.25" drivers, a 3.5", and a 1", and an internal 250 watt amp for the 5.25"s.

The surrounds are a 1" and a 6.5". These are available with a 250 watt internal amp but mine are the passive version.

The next buy was an HTPC to go with everything. I'm a sucker for big black aluminum boxes, so I went with Silverstone's CW-02B. Currently residing in it is 1.2 TB of storage (more to come), an Asus M3A78-EMH HDMI motherboard, AMD 5000+, and 2 gig of G.Skill, running Windows Vista Premium. I've got a 7950GT laying around that I may throw into it.

My final purchase was the Emotiva XPA-5 1000 watt amplifier.

So, without further ado, the pics:

Top rack, from the bottom up, Emotiva XPA-5, Pace TDC-778X and external drive, various mineral samples, and sitting on top are my Dinovo Edge and Wii/PS3 chargers.

It feels very good to finally be "done." I'm sure I'll eventually get upgradeitis again but at least right now for pretty much the first time ever I'm completely happy with the system and don't feel the need to add or replace anything.

^...

Do you have your PS3 connected via HDMI to that 24"? With that monitor aren't you getting a 1080p experience when watching BD?

I am looking to buy the NEC 24" (which does 1:1 at 1080p), are you satisfied with your HD display?

huh? why wouldn't he be able to snake the power cable through the wall?

problem there is it's solid stone behind the walls. The building i live in was built in the early 1800's so it's damn near impossible to get permission for that kind of work.

Just my 2 cents, but why don't you move your sub and look at putting your center under your TV and I would also move your rack and place both infinity's next to the tv for a cleaner look with all that money you spent I would definately try to get it looking abit cleaner and uniform.

Suggestion, do not quote all the pictures please.

^^^probably sounds better the way he has it...most people who buy that kind of audio gear don't just put it in some random ass place; they take there time to find just the right spot.

the speakers look to be equidistant to the TV, giving a more proper and uniform imaging to the couch which would my guess be the main listening position. Very nice setup indeed.

That sub placement looks pretty damn random to me:D

The human ear can not detect where bass like that of which the sub woofer is producing so it dose not particularly matter where its placed. Note this is different in very large rooms or if there a weird shape.
I do agree though it looks out of place...most people shove them in a corner.
