The naming scheme is terrible. Spend millions on R&D, spend nothing on figuring out a unique consumer friendly name. Branding fail...
let’s look at exhibit A) Wii U
Kinda fitting isn't it?Looks like a PC tower

Microsoft's entire naming convention has been bad.
Xbox
Xbox 360
Xbox One ??? (Xbox One X as a sub category)
Xbox Series X
I should go buy an Xbox 360, clearly it has the numerical advantage.
In the end, most consumers will either know what the current gen is, or the clerk at gamestop will be able to tell them, or their kids that are asking for them.
Enough space to fit ports for mouse and keyboard?
Frankly, I liked that Microsoft kept changing it up to this point. Just iterating the number always seemed lazy to me. Nintendo has been doing it the right way, in my opinion. Microsoft should have kept their codenames for the consoles. I hope there is a "Scarlett" or "Anaconda" edition for early adopters like the "Scorpio" edition of the One X. Would be even more bad ass if it had a color scheme to match (blood red for the former, snake green for the latter).Do you think just increasing the number at the end is the only way to do it?
Marketing will always be marketing.

As you are a camera guy, is the Sony a6500 vastly superior than the really small numbered A9 II?
The One X has 3 USB ports. That is a little tight if you have other devices connected, like an external drive. Keyboard & mouse support is available on all versions of the Xbox, but it is game dependent.xbox one x has that today
That is good that it appears to use the same controllers. That will keep people from having to replace what they already invested in

Yeah, no thanks. I'll stick to the current form factor.
Most powerful gaming machine of all time.
This is funny, heh !!!
Oh we are gonna do xbox one s but not slim and pro for playstation?
looks better than the ps5 leaks.
There's no system named Playstation 4 Slim. They did forget Xbox One S All Digital in their list though.
I'll never get over the fact that someone said "Hey, let's call our cheapest version the Xbox SAD version!" and it was accepted and used instead of getting a stern look for mocking their own brand.
Sure the SAD has been consistently their best seller, but total units compared to Sony is, well, SAD indeed.
You mean those dev units that will look nothing like the released console? I disagree still, at least that will fit in an entertainment center, unless this tall cube can be laid down on its side as well.
It can be laid on it's side, this has been confirmed. Though, it's not really all THAT big standing up. Too big for most home entertainment systems (even though people really should stop shoving hot systems into heat traps) but it looks like its not even as tall as three of the XSX controllers. Probably in line with small ITX towers.

It can be used on it's side. That's not gonna fit in an entertainment stand.
I guess we're back to having consoles on the floor
Microsoft taking a cue from Apple... “let’s change the form factor with every iteration.”
Surely must be some people out there who would buy a whole new media stand just for their day one xbox purchase.
I’m not exactly drooling over the design. A PC chassis like that would include some kind of window or mesh opening, but it feels like they want to hide what’s inside the thing. I hope there is some type of active cooling in a box that big.
It looks stupid not to include some type of customizeable RGB led on the exterior, if you’re gonna plop that thing on top of your existing stand (insert red led ring joke here). We’re beyond the point of not including RGB to make a statement, it is a clearly desired product.
But if they can deliver 120fps gaming at 4k/8k for something around $600, they may very well be on to something. Not dethroning PC entirely but the idea of a budget build PC might be challenged. At least for anyone that has been holding off any upgrades for the last couple generations and don't want to get up to speed on all the hardware knowledge.
Thats what she said!It can be used on it's side.

Edit: oh ok they maybe put it on the top/side where it will probably never be seen...

It makes sense that it hasn't fallen into the RGB Everything craze. It might look like a PC case, but the clean and simple design of it still leans more towards the home theater and "TV box" way of thinking. You don't see a ton of blinged out AV receivers or soundbars.
RGB.Maybe we will though! Lots of flashy gaming setups are out there already, just not in the living room. It’s MS so I would trust if they included RGB it would at least be done pretty tastefully.
120fps at 4k/8k?
