Its amazing what a P4 at 3.9ghz allows the 1950agp to do.
That's pretty darned impressive CPU overclock and score. BTW, just reached 4241 3DMark06 - What's your Dothan M do?i'd much rather have a dothan @ 2.7ghz....
10381 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2572057
gpu @ 620, the mem is at stock. it won't overclock at all.

BTW just got to 7,227 but then I'm overclocked @ 621/724. What are your temps like?
Just FYI your CPU is limiting your scores and I would also check to make sure you have the APG slot running at 8x, sometimes bios defaults to 4x...

That's exactly my situation. Plan to do a new build this time 2008!!! I've had my P4 at over 3.6 but reduced to 3.4 so I don't have to provide extra voltage.Yep, but I bought this X1950 Pro AGP vid card so I would not have to upgrade the CPU / mobo right now.... BTW this is using an ABIT AI7 mobo at AGP 8X and I can run at 3.5 Ghz but clocked back to 3.3 Ghz to extend the life of this CPU. I am planning on upgrading at year end with a quad core / DX10 vid card system. This X1950 Pro AGP card will go to my son's PC, so it's not a wasted purchase.

Almost identical machines....almost identical theories....wow
Does anyone know if the PowerColor x1950 pro agp have HDCP support? I couldn't find anything on their website. Can this card power WoW at 1920 x 1200?
Hmm, what a unique question. It's probably been asked and answered a couple dozen times on this thread. But here-goes: YOU ARE FINEHm, is it worth upgrading my OC'ed X850XT (560/600) to this? I've got a A64 3400+ @ 2.5, is my cpu going to bottleneck the the x1950pro?

Your CPU has more power than mine and I'm very impressed with the results. The shadows, the rippling of and refracted images showing through water, the colors and the fps are awesome. My rig has new lease of life that will keep me going for another 12 months. Well worth the investment. It will blow your X850XT away (overclocked or not).Hm, is it worth upgrading my OC'ed X850XT (560/600) to this? I've got a A64 3400+ @ 2.5, is my cpu going to bottleneck the the x1950pro?
thanks, now the question is if the Power Color has HDCP.
http://ati.amd.com/products/RadeonX1950/specs.html* AMD’s ATI Radeon® X and Radeon® 9550 series of GPUs are capable of processing HDCP signals ("HDCP ready"), however not all ATI Radeon graphics cards are HDCP ready. Please check the applicable ATI Redeon graphics card specification to determine if a particular ATI Radeon graphics card is HDCP ready. Some third parties manufacture graphics cards containing ATI Radeon GPUs -- you can inquire of them which models, if any, -- are HDCP ready
plus i hear the temps are great
30-40 idle am i correct? even on the sapphire?
oh, that's not good. i have a sapphire 9800xt 256mb agp and it's got similar issues (70 idle, 80+load). single slot cooling just doesn't work on such a high-end processor. it needs dual-slot solutions.
so, there's really compromise here? if you want high performance, must have dual slot, if not, don't do it? man that sux. i thought going to 90nm, 65nm was supposed to help GPU's stay cooler. looks like i have to go with x1600 series with HDCP for HD playback but won't be helpful for high res. gaming. *sigh*. my application has to be single slot, no dual slot allowed.
I bought the PowerColor x1950 Pro Agp. 3dmark06 score was 3552.
It was for a old Dimension 8300.
3.0 Northwood with 1.25 gigs of ram. I see some improvement over the 9800 pro but I'm not a heavy FPS player.
I'm getting the Benq 24 inch soon and hopefully I can run WoW at 1920 x 1200. I don't mind all the AA and AF but as long as its 40+ I'll be happy.
Hey, I upgraded the 9800(!!) to the X1950. Nothin' wrong with the 9800(!!). Gonna give my sister a rig for when she's working at home and the 9800's gonna go in that. I've had many hours of good gaming on the 9800(!!)You upgraded from a 9800 and didn't use a single exclamation point?
I've also got a northwood on a revision 1 875P and enjoying a big boost in peformance. 4241 on 3DMark06. I didn't even bother finishing the benchmark on the 9800 cos it the fps was so slow it didn't seem worthwhile...I bought the PowerColor x1950 Pro Agp. 3dmark06 score was 3552.
