Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

A Brief Statement from Leenzee Games and 505 Games

First of all, we want to extend our most sincere thanks to everyone who supports and follows our game. It means a lot to us.

We have received reports regarding issues such as the game’s optimization not meeting expectations, errors in distributing pre-order rewards, and some abnormal pricing. These problems should never have occurred, and we deeply regret the inconvenience and negative experience some players are currently facing.

Regarding Optimization Issues
We are confident in the game’s performance within our recommended spec but we’re working on optimization. We are looking to issue a patch as soon as we can

I’m playing this pretty much exclusively on my 5080 laptop, and fwiw even though I could hang around 200fps with 4x frame gen on things got MUCH smoother (and less blurry with fast movement) once I turned frame gen off and turned global illumination and shadows down just one click. It’s not perfect, but it’s far better than playable and around 90-100fps.

Now to just figure out the combat and the rest of the mechanics..

Game Journalists: "This game shows attractive females, IT MUST BE BAD AND YOU'RE WRONG IF YOU LIKE IT"

Actual Gamers: "Performance is shit, hard pass"

New patch addresses performance issues and rebalances a few things. Everybody will also receive the soundtrack for free.

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers – Patch 1.3 (July 24 Update)

Thank you for waiting and for your continued support for the launch of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers. As our ongoing commitment to deliver the best possible experience, we’ve released Patch 1.3 to address several key issues affecting early players. Full details below:

⚙️ Performance Related Optimizations

Low Latency Mode is now a manual toggle in the Options menu. It will no longer be enabled by default.

Supersampling resolution limits have been adjusted on select GPU models to prevent unintended performance degradation.

VRAM optimization for lower-end GPUs:

For GPUs with 8GB or less VRAM, memory-saving optimization is now applied across all texture quality levels.

For GPUs with more than 8GB VRAM, this optimization applies only when texture quality is set to Low.

These changes improve stability and reduce crashes or stuttering caused by insufficient video memory.

🛠 Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements

Fixed a crash that could occur immediately after the company logo during game startup.

Resolved execution stutter affecting select hardware configurations during finisher animations.

Fixed issues related to both the Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition – after the patch update, players of both versions will receive the correct content rewards. Players who have already purchased the Deluxe Edition package will need to log in again and claim the reward at the donation box located in Reverent Temple.

All WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers owners will receive the Original Soundtrack DLC for free as compensation.

⚔️ Gameplay Balance Adjustments

Chapter 2 – Landmine Encounter Rebalancing:

Reduced the number of landmines and adjusted their damage output to create a more fair and enjoyable challenge.

We are currently working on a more extensive patch that will be rolling out in the next few days. If you're still experiencing issues after this update, please visit our FAQ page or reach out to our Customer Support team for further assistance

I got up to the first boss last night without any issues. I'm on Game Pass too. But if people are having performance issues I won't knock them. Everyone's experience is different.

Performance is acceptable currently, and we can only expect it to improve. I’m at around 80-100 fps on both my laptop (1600p) and and desktop (4K) without frame gen and near max settings, could be smoother, but I’m happy with it.

I’m about 9 hours in and absolutely loving it. If there’s one thing that most Souls-like games are missing it’s an expansive interconnected world with loads of exploration, and this one has it.

I'm enjoying this more than I thought I would. Though the lack of any kind of jumping or vaulting is a let down. You're telling me that a highly skilled assassin is beaten by a 2 foot tall obstacle? Oh and don't even think about standing in a 1 foot deep stream of water. Instant death. That feathering virus is a real bitch.

I dropped 2 feet down to that same spot and she died and I was like HUH.

The vast majority of souls games don’t have jumping.

But yeah I died in that same stream too lol.

You know what else enhances experience, giving customers an option to change difficulty in a game...

Which is weird since all the originals since Demon's Souls have had jumping.

This is what I'm talking about. Locked door to the right. World's largest opening to the left of it blocked by a 2 foot tall fence. In Elden Ring I'd just jump over this shit.

Yeah I misspoke there a bit I guess. Still, the running joystick click jump is quite a bit different from the regular A button jump like in ER. In any Souls game (except ER ofc) if there’s a knee high wall you still can’t jump over it, so that’s where I was coming from with that comment.

Haha, I ran up on that door multiple times today just to make sure.

So far at least I haven’t encountered any invisible walls, which I think most of us would agree are worse than the inability to jump over tiny walls.

Allegedly the latest patch's optimizations were merely lowering the internal render resolution of the game and being deceptive about it in the menus. This vid popped up on my youtube, people saying it's true after checking with DLSS Indicator Overlay. Also "any position between the percentages of the presets, 50, 59 and 67, doesn't actually change anything". Also allegedly the DLAA setting now does nothing, it's still DLSS 67%.

Yeah they would’ve been better off giving it time and doing something concrete rather than that nonsense. Must have really felt some pressure with those Steam reviews.

3 posts up but seems so.

Demon's Souls does not have jumping.

Dark Souls 1 - 3, jumping is not simply a jump button. You have to be running, and you double press the roll button. Its really only used for clearing gaps. You cannot jump up onto things. And I believe any attacks which you can technically avoid due to the "jump", its mostly by accident. There is also no jump attack.

Whereas in Elden Ring, you have more direct button input for jumping (although its still not a completely direct press button for jump. Its press and then release, for jump. The jump happens on the button release). Jumping in Elden Ring has gemerous i-frames (Actually I think the entire lower half of your hitbox is invincible for the entire jump). You can specifically jump-attack (which does a lot of poise damage) And the game is designed so that several attacks can be evaded by jumping.

That fire monster in the screenshot ended up chasing me and I wasn't prepared to fight it so I just ran away. Fire monster followed, wound up for an attack, and subsequently yeeted itself off a cliff to its death. It was at that moment that I realized that this really is a soulslike.

Update and Optimization Plan for WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers
Dear Players,

First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone for their continued patience and understanding regarding the recent issues surrounding the launch of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers. Your experience and feedback is so valuable foundation for our team. We will provide a comprehensive explanation about the game content soon.

Since the game's launch, we have been closely monitoring all community channels. Every voice—from criticism to suggestions—has been received, carefully listened to, and actively discussed to find solutions.

Below are the planned adjustments that have attracted significant player attention:

Regarding Pre-order Rewards and Future Compensation
In the July 25 update, there were errors in distributing and retrieving pre-order rewards, resulting in players not successfully receiving their rewards. We also received feedback that the compensation for Deluxe Edition players was insufficient.

As a token of appreciation for your early support and to make amends for our oversight, we will provide additional compensation to all Deluxe Edition owners:

  • Steam Deluxe Edition : in addition to the single costume as compensation, there will be 3 extra sets of Deluxe costumes + 4 weapons.
  • Standard and Deluxe Editions holders will additionally obtain 3 headgear items across all platforms.
Regarding Performance and Game Optimization
We will continue to optimize performance issues and will keep adjusting the game based on your suggestions—such as difficulty levels and boss encounters—in upcoming patches. Here is a preview of our recent optimization efforts:

  • Fix crashes across different devices
  • Improve frame rates and reduce lag on certain graphics cards
  • Optimize default settings for some graphics cards
  • Correct the speed of getting up after being knocked down
  • Reduce damage and the number of some traps
  • Lower impact resistance of certain low-level monsters
  • Reduce exploration pressure in some areas
  • Fix issues caused by missing items leading to quest interruptions
  • Improve AI logic for monsters and bosses
  • Enhance texture quality in low-resolution areas
  • Improve asset detail and precision in some regions
We deeply value every player’s support and encouragement. We are actively reflecting on our workflows and striving to improve our capabilities to deliver higher-quality services more efficiently.

We ask for your patience as we tackle these optimizations step by step. We hope that one day, both our work and our team will prove worthy of your expectations.

Sincerely,
The Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Team

I just read about the downed player speed while trying to get back up on the Steam forums. Not sure how the can fix something that major.

This complaint always confounds me. Yes a game is built upon mechanics and rigid rules. Not even sandbox games allow complete freedom of play. They always have been. If you don't like it, find something else to play.
That’s all well and good if you didn’t have to pony up a decent chunk of cash before even getting a chance to trial the gameplay

Really wish steam went back to this, allowing even 45mins of gameplay (instead of the 90 in some cases before) would probably alleviate a lot of the negativity, but that would obviously hurt the bottom line at first but would probably help in the longer run
