Worst Game Ever?

Ok well, as for personal experiance, I would have to say Halo and Halo 2. They have about the same story as doom. You are so and so. Kill all the aliens. They are the most overhyped piece of crap games I have ever seen. The multiplayer is decent, but I still prefer CS. I do acknowledge though, that it is the best FPS out for Consoles, which is the reason I dont own a console.

As for actual horribleness in programming and such? Easily Driv3r. Lets take the physics engine. I was going 120 in a car, hit a jump, turned veritical. I hit a small metal fence. About 1/10th of the car hit it. My car stopped dead and dropped straight down. What the hell is up with that? Last I checked a 2000 pound piece of metal traveling at speeds in excess of 100mph doesnt come to a dead stop because it hit a 3 foot tall decorative metal fence. And can you save GTA: Vice City RIPOFF? I mean for gods sake, if you look at the beach area, in GTA where you start out at the hotel, it is EXACTLY the same as in Driv3r. The maps are exactly the same...

Just in my experience and my opinions of course.

I would have to say the medal of honor pacific assault, I rented this game when I had a ps2 and got bored after like 5 minutes, the AI was so stupid and the whole game was repetative. And the one who commented about road rash, that was my favourite game for sega genisis and probably in the top of my all time favourite games.

Welcome to the medal of honor universe.

Can developers please stop with the World War II games?

heh...Half-life had the same story; You are Gordon Freeman. Kill all the aliens. :)

Thats pretty much the story of every fps (you are ____. kill all the ____). It works, too! (you are a terrorist. kill all the ct's). In my experience it isn't the story that makes me enjoy the game, its the gameplay.

How about a brand new game DungeonSleep2, I mean did they even play the game before it hit stores, or try to host a server and have friends connect

Driv3r (or Driver 3, if you happen to realize that there were 2 other games before it) came out before GTA: Vice City, didn't it? I remember playing the original Driver back on my mom's PIII 500MHz back when it was the fastest thing you could buy.

Tribes: Vengeance.....Taking a dump on this game would be more entertaining(I don't speak from experience)

I think everyone here is forgetting the undisputed champion of terrible games:

Extreme Paintbrawl.

(The SNES version of Populous blew as well.)

I remember that game! I bought it sucked! Was made using the Build engine if I remember right. It was horrible!

If we were putting all these shitty video games in the town square and casting rocks...

I'd throw mine at Knight Rider for the NES. A big one.

playing spin the bottle with fat chicks.

oh wait you meant video games.

Worst... Really Worst: Some Dune game that I have tried to erase form my memory.
Crap. I was plenty pissed and I didn't even buy it. A friend gave it to me knowing I loved the Dune books. But the game is lame and pointless.

That would be Emperor: Battle for Dune.

Now, my list of crappy games:
Emperor: Battle for Dune (It just asked for it =/)
Mortal Kombat: Sub-Zero Mythologies
Bible Adventures (NES game, came free with the console)
Myst II: Riven
Superman 64 (Kryptonite fog. Worst idea ever)
Perfect Dark (What the hell were they thinking with the blur effect?)
Forsaken 64 (Would've been good, if it didn't freeze up the hardware)
Bubsy
GTA:San Andreas and Vice City
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (just got waaay to repetitive after the first level or so)

I have to agree with Extreme Paintbrawl. Hands down the worst game ever. I remember one time when me and a friend were in CompUSA looking for some games and this kid grabs Extreme Paintbrawl and starts pleading with his mom... "Please mom! I've been waiting for this game for SOOOO long. Please buy it! Please!"

I walked away laughing, knowing he was in for a real treat. :D

ARRRRRGHHHHHHHH I still have nightmares!!!

"Excuse me... do you know where I can find Warehouse #8?"

haha.. as lame as that game was, it did take a lot of effort to beat it, and a lot of running around and talking to people (aka, wasting time). But the fighting was kinda cool, I guess. Atleast the 75 man brawl was.

oh..god yeah...

superman 64
republic was pretty stupid to...probobly cuz im to stupid to figure it out

I have you all beat. The absolute most awful game I, or any of my friends (and one of which is the GM of an EB, so he plays a lot of games) have played is XS Games Super Truck Racing.

After getting drunk at a bar and thoroughly enjoying an arcade of Big Mothertruckers (or something like that) we sought out a similar game. Alas, Big Mothertruckers is a blue disc, which my PS2 rejects, so, there was this other game sitting next to it - Super Truck Racing, and it was only $5, so why the hell not?

Well, I'll tell you why the hell not. First of all it isn't arcadey at all, which I guess isn't so bad, I mean, some people like realistic sims, and I can forgive a game for catering to them. Still, realistically driving a big rig around an oval course has to be the most boring activity imagineable. The things did 0 - 60 in like 3 minutes, had awful handling (honestly, you'd nudge the analog stick, and the thing would spin out) and the refs would call flags for any 'aggressive' driving. Oh yeah, it also crashed a lot, and 2 player mode had to be unlocked in the single player game (for a G-D racing game? That is ridiculous).

Oh well, wasn't a total loss, I was able to trade the game in under a promotion for $10, so I made $5 in the deal and only lost a couple hours of my life trying to play it.

I can't remember the worst games I have ever played ...

Yay for counsiling...! .. :)

Deus Ex 2 for me. Its one of the only games that I never bothered even attempting to finish but sold it after having played for only a few hours.

They completely wrecked the Deus Ex universe because of the need to limit it to what console weenies could deal with.

another vote for extreme paintbrawl. i remember i bought it from best buy, and it was the only pc game my parents ever bought me, and they bought it because it said "non violent", but back then, times were easier. i got my older sis to get me the mk series. :D

I know it is Driver 3. Im not that silly. And I think it came out after VC. I am pretty sure on that. Although not positive. It doesnt matter, it still sucked horribly. :)

I would have to say the worst game I can remember playing was star control 2. Now star control 1 for the 3DO was wonderful. It had some great movies/cutscenes and the gameplay actually flowed well. The 2nd had NONE of those. No cutscenes, no flow to the gameplay, and virtually no story at all.

the bouncer
beyond the beyond
halo 2 singleplayer (and let the flaming begin)
any racing game that isn't Gran Turismo or Burnout ( burnout 3 revived may ability to like an arcade racer)

Yeah Halo 2 did suck. I laughed everytime I played it because it would take like 2 seconds for all the textures and crap to load during the "cutscenes"/ You'd see like blank faces and then all the sudden they'd have eyes lips nostrels ect.

On top of that it was too short and playing as the arbitor sucked completely.

People named a lot of horrible games...but the thing that I see and laugh my ass off at is when people name some of the best, highest selling, fun games on their "worst games ever" list...come on, stop trying to be different! Worst game ever....I really am not sure as there are so many that suck horribly, but, MAN......I LOVED Shenmue, it was seriously one of the best games I ever played!

I only play retail games that were supposed to be good. (rated higher then 8 out of ten) but even those suck sometimes. Ones that have been given perfect marks!!!!

Sorry but Halo 2 sucked. Single player was crap compared to the original. Original game I probably played through a dozen times on legendary. The second one I had trouble going through the single player campaign even once without crying because bungie screwed what could have been a awsome trilogy of games 1 2 3. In all honesty Halo 2 is the only game I have ever sold back to electonic botique.

But because I want to make the above poster happy and not say Halo 2 I will have to also say nearly every single game on the addicting games website.

Back to the Future II & III on the NES. God, that game was crap.

I mean, come on. I gave Daikatana a try. I enjoyed Trespasser (and I wish the team had held it together long enough to finish that game - it would have rocked). I even kinda liked Star Wars: Rebellion. But BttF II&III was utter trash.

And sorry to hear about the guy who didn't enjoy Wing Commander 4. I'd kill to have another game like WC3 or 4 - a decently well-produced film, and a full-featured and fun game rolled into one. Of course, that's as likely as a new X-Wing or Freespace, so I won't hold my breath.

Shuffle Puck for the amiga, that friggen game drove me crazy. At the end there was this robot, it was impossible to beat, I hate it when a computer game cheats, lol.

Without a doubt BY FAR the worst game all time is E.T. The Extra Terrestrial for the Atari. Literally hundreds of thousands of carts were burried in the desert when it was found out the game was bad, really, really, really bad. And thats fact, not myth! Man, it didn't even have an ending.

100% agree. Not to mention that Diakatana does such hard and Superman 64 is also terrible. There are also alot of budget miscellaneous titles on the shelves at your local Comp USA that suck much ass as well.

Shuffle Puck was awesome! I hate to tell you but it was beatable. It took me awhile but I finally got the hang of beating that last guy. Of course, I doubt I could do it now. My reflexes just aren't what they used to be. :) You had to love that guy that was impossible to beat at first but got worse and worse as the game progressed because he took a drink after every time he won a point. :)

Lol, I know it was technically possible to beat him, just the agony of doing so drove me INSANE, lol
Its not that I really hated it, but the memories still live to this day
:D

I hated starting from the beginning every damn time as well.

-dave

OH yeah, I know the drunk guy your talking about, lol...forgot about him, he was easy hehe

The guy that got drunk was the lizard looking guy. I remember the pig being pretty tough overall, though. It did suck having to start back over at the beginning every time but all in all it was a fun game with a lot of nice touches. I think it was done by Broderbund. Whatever happened to those guys? They made quite a few good games back in the day.

My vote for worst game ever:

Duke Nukem Forever.....bad, just baddddddddddd

I can't really think of the worst game I've ever played. I've even enjoyed extremely broken games for the sheer amusement of doing retarded things with them. Not that it was a bad game but a good example would be Virtua Fighter for 32x. In that version of the game you could time it so when you knocked somebody out of the ring it would look like their necks are being violently snapped. Or in Road Rash for 3DO you could hop off your bike run a few miles and beat up old ladies crossing the street, while in split screen multiplayer too boot! Like an early GTA!

There have been a ton of buggy games I've really liked as well though. Most of the Lucas Arts adventure games from the 80s-90's were buggy and in some instances impossible to beat without cheating but I still had a lot of fun with them.

I agree that Halo was way overhyped. I can't believe how successful Halo 2 was. Just goes to show what console users are missing out on PC, things we all take for granted on PC (Halo 2 being comparable to FPS games that came out years ago.) Really how generic can you get, a guy in a green suit that kills aliens. No real story, just completely bland overall.

I can't agree that Shenmue 1 and 2 sucked. Despite all their flaws I still loved those games. Completing Shenmue 2 was one of the most satisfying and rewarding experiences I've ever had in a video game. It's sad when a company can release the same game every year and it sells more copies than any games with innovation that try something new. I had more fun with my DC than my Xbox PS2 and GC combined. It's one of the reasons I've given up console gaming. I don't mind the ports though like Psychonauts and Indigo Prophecy since they're such great games.

Outpost for PC. First CD Rom game. That game was terrible, you couldnt even play it when you bought it, and half the items were not there, and they never got it patched so they could play it.
