Wiretap's Home Theater

Yea, the server ate quite a few posts unfortunately.

The seating was from interiorexpress.com. I ordered the Cannes 6 piece set. Free shipping FTW!

It is looking good... btw, why aren't you at MPCon?!

Oh, you need a riser man, it will complete the look and function.

No MPcon for me. I have been busy and needed to get a lot of things done. Plus it is at Eastern, so I don't have a way to haul my 37'' out there because my father has the truck up north.

I'm not doing a riser, but if it needs one later on, I can still make one. The back row really isn't bad. When you are sitting in the back row and the front seats are reclined with people sitting in them, you can still see the whole screen.

Your 37 should fit in that car on the backseat?

Ahh common, I'm moving and I'm here

lol, no, it doesn't fit in my back seat. My car's back seat is made for little Japanese children. :p

JDM kids, thats a good one.

Have you check out how your temps are with the ASUS video card?

:p

No, I didn't check any temps on the video card yet. I watched several movies and it never overheated, so I really don't need to look. But, next time I boot it up, I'll try to see what temps are reading on it. My CPU stays in the mid 20's idle, and mid 30's at max load. The cooler temps in the basement help out a lot.

i wish our basement was made into a living space like urs and i have my room down there. in this house the upstairs where my room is gets so hot. and my pc doesnt help that at all.

No box.. don't need it. And there really isn't enough room to be comfortable for a 3rd row.

I already have a HDDVD-ROM in the home theater PC, so there would be no need for a standalone player.

I understand your point but I myself would rather have it standalone... Each his own I guess. I also was thinking would you get a BLU-Ray drive for the PC or do you not care at all about blu-ray? I myself would want a hybrid player whent hey come down in price.

If you can tell me what a standalone can do that my HTPC can't, let me know.

I don't care about Blu-ray. It has additional DRM and is backed by companies which try to force their consumers decisions for them, which I do not support.

Don't think that HDDVD doesn't want everyone to toss away thier bluray and dvd players... ;)

Every company wants consumers to upgrade to their technology. HDDVD even does dual format disks to make it easier. :p

Finally snapped a pic of the silent Asus 8600GT. :)

Wow, very nice. I love the projector, simply beautiful.

Do you plan on living in this house for a while longer?

Yes.. for another 2 years I'm guessing. Then I'm moving out and taking my stuff with me. :)

Hey w1re. Do you use Comcast Digital Cable or some sort of digital cable? How did you get it to work the the HTPC? I tried for about two weeks to have my HTPC take digital cable signal but it would never work.

I'm using HD digital cable hooked up to the receiver, then it routes it to the projector. I'm waiting for an open digital tuner or cable card solution for the consumer. It shouldn't be too long from now. I'm guessing in the next two years for sure.

Sounds good, thanks.

Going to Bump this to the top after reading the entire thread... Great Theater as I am doing the same.

lol, too funny. He didn't technically try to sell it off as his own (like he said) but still it does seem like he did......IDK may be he just really liked your setup...I know I do. When I get some money and my own house I will prob duplicate it....or close to it. :p

Wow posing as someone else to get eCredit? That's lame as hell.

He posted it in a "rate my setup" thread.. and he even posted more "update pictures". I consider that taking credit.

Excuse my ignorance, if this was posted somewhere, but what is that SFF case on the desk on the right?

Thanks :D (nice setup ;))

It's a Ultra Micro Fly SFF case. =) It is my test rig I install OS's and programs on before I use them for real.

Hey w1retap, nice job with the HT! It just looks awesome!

I recently finished my HT of my own, looks similar to yours but with everything compacted (92" screen, 720p PJ, and sattelite speakers, Onkyo 605, PS3) Atm, I have my PJ sitting on a coffee table and it serves the purpose quite well, I am thinking about installing it on the ceiling, however I have the same acoustic panels you have, and I'm not quite sure how you installed it. Does the mount have to be connected to something structural like the joists? Or can it just hang off the panels?

I'd appreciate pics if you have some lying around, dont bother taking extra pics :)

Wow, very nice!!! W1retap, i just read where you owned that guy. and then he tried to deny it.. lol.. Very nice setup!!

Thank you for the comments guys. :)

Yeah, it mounts to the drop ceiling. If you go on perfectmounts.com they sell it there for a pretty good price. It's called the "false ceiling adapter kit". I did that along with their Infinity universal mount. It's a solid choice at a good value IMO. It is all very sturdy and constructed well. If their mounts don't fit your projector, they custom build you the pieces for free, or they'll send you replacement parts that do fit.

wow w1retap. incredible setup. and yes its thetox from EvoM OT. finally made my way over to the [h]
