Windows 10 Creators Update

Does that just mess up games in the Xbox app, or all games like from Steam or Origin?

I've been having a lot of random problems too, but outside the Xbox app. Guess I should check that setting when I get home.

All games. I turned it back off and this time I then used powershell to disable that trash "app" completely.

One thing to keep in mind about the Game DVR functionality, it can actually record video in just about any app, desktop or store. This is actually one of those things that I think Windows 10 critics rag on a lot and while I get it can cause problems for some people and the settings should stick, it can be VERY useful. It has pretty low over head and very simple to use and can be great for recording app demos and tutorials easily. The most limiting factor of it is that it can't record the entire desktop, that's actually a feature I've requested through feedback.

Every single time that pile of crap app has been turned on it causes issues in games for me. It causes known issues in CS:GO, the second it was turned back on it was causing stuttering in POE for me. No thanks. Maybe it works better in different systems, who knows.

The app has nothing to do with it really, those settings were just the only way this exposed before the CU, now they are in Settings. I've not had any problem with it on, it shouldn't really do anything until Win-G has been activated inside on an app. At any rate, it's a app screen recorder built into the OS. That will have use for some.

I'm not sure about those low overhead claims (especially for videos)...when I used to have it enabled (for games) it definitely was a bit of a resource hog so I went back to MSI Afterburner...maybe for desktop (or other apps) it is better

just installed it.
love how they renamed some of the spyware services. as well as tried to hide some of them from their user....
Window 10 is truely given microsoft ownership of the computer

I am on my second attempt to get this updated installed. I did it earlier and it got to the point where it wants to restart, so I do so. Then I get back into windows, go to the command window to check the version and its still not updated.

I Just installed it on the demo machine for my business, not impressed.

More options and privacy settings hidden in obscure menu's contained within the new 'touch oriented' Settings Menu, while the Control Panel that's worked fine for decades and doesn't need to be replaced now has to be pinned to the start menu as it's too desktop oriented these days to be included in the 'right click' Start Menu.

MFer! the creators update just installed on my wife's gaming pc, and now it won't boot......"something went wrong".......attempting to repair.............yeah I know where this is going.

No update yet from NVidia or MS to solve the chroma mode switch problem with my setup. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Very random behavior out of it and I can't make heads or tails out of it.

DL'd it, updated, conflicted with a program, had to do a hard restart. Now it won't load Win 10. Won't let me F11 either. Other systems are fine, but smoked the gamer. Not pleased....... Eff 3d paint

Same outcome, installed fine last night and i was playing games. Turn it on today and will not boot into normal mode, stays at the spinning dots screen. I can only get into safe mode.

reading about all these issues I'm glad I didn't do a clean install via iso...am perfectly happy with Windows Update taking a few weeks or months before installing it

I sure miss the service pack days when updates actually fixed things, and you didn't have to question them because Microsoft was a little more trustworthy.

A little more trustworthy in the days that they were being sued for anti-trust violations and there was a movie called "Anti-Trust" that was a metaphorical depiction of Microsoft and Bill Gates as murders. You mean those days?

You are lucky you got safemode. I had to do a full blown reinstall as no other option was available. No restore point, repair, nothing.

I deal with this on a daily basis, along with a flashing taskbar/start button on a black screen. I love how the integrated 'repair tools' are completely useless, just as useless as the error messages they produce when they fail.

I had to do the same, safe mode workded but i was still unable to fix it. Had to use the built-in reset feature with blows everything away besides personal files. That fixed it, but its still annoying that i have to reinstall everything again. Happened on the night I had planned to play games too :shifty:.

Seems to me that folks have forgotten about the roll back feature. System restore and the roll back feature are two entirely different things as well. Yeah, I know, I am a shill but, at least I am aware of the basic features of this OS. :D

Edit: Quick edit but, that is assuming it is there and is used within a few days of the install.

Ever since the update my Wifi has lost bars. I used to sit at 4 bars and now sit at 1 bar.

In my vast experience with Windows 10 issues, the rollback feature rarely works and when it doesn't, it doesn't even give a terribly valid reason as to why it didn't work. The OS simply reports 'That didn't work' - Or words to that effect.

The recovery tools are rubbish.

I made a video here. The updated NVidia driver hasn't solve the problem for me. Ditto on the above update. The system still boots up and puts my KS8000 display into the incorrect mode. I have to flip it to RGB and then back to ycbcr 4:4:4 to get it out of this.

Randomly it will just work sometimes. No idea why.

Thanks so much, great demo of this issue!

I know it makes you wonder who the heck is running the place now right ?

Why are you guys still putting up with this dumpster fire of an OS?

I did kernel updates on all my Linux Mint boxes the other day. Took a moment and nothing broke.

I suppose I put up with it due to all of my games work with the dumpster fire OS and only a few play on my Linux boxes.

Despite having an issue with one out of four dumpster fire systems, my needs are suited.

I can't install this update. It hangs each time on a reboot and reverts back again. I can live with that.

I ran the installer for the Nvidia 378.92 driver from March. Selected clean install. This downgraded my driver from the current version without any issues.

The problem with ycbcr444 mode has been solved for me by doing this. Until they fix the issue I am going to be stuck on this version of the driver.

I wish I could have only Linux on my machines. However, I use Windows at work, and some programs that I use for work and home don't work on Linux (Finale 25, a music notation program, for example). Tried Windows 10 and didn't like it, so I'm back to Windows 7. Works for me.

I have heard from people in a similar position to yourself that there is music notation software available under Linux and apparently it's quite good.

Apparently certain versions of Finale 25 work well under Wine.

Musescore is very good software. I would say its mostly on par with finale myself... although the best of the best imo is still sibelius which is Mac / Windows. Still musescore is free and progressing rapidly.

Version 2 is the current stable Muse. Work on version 3 is coming along nicely.

I wouldn't suggest running version 3 test builds right now for anything important... but stable version 3.0 shouldn't be to far off.

luckily the Creator's Update still hasn't shown up for me via Windows Update...yesterday I did get KB3150513 (which seems to be causing issues on its own according to Google) which I thought was a pre-cursor to getting the Creator's Update but still nothing...I'm content to keep running the Anniversary Update

I have always manually ran the update off of a USB flash drive. I just prefer to start it myself.

I always do a clean iso install with each major W10 update but this one seems to be causing more then the usual amount of issues (WDDM 2.2 in particular) so I'm content with waiting for it to queue up via Windows Update...I'll most likely do an iso install after I'm sure most of the issues have been ironed out...

*the WDDM 2.2 issues are probably a combination of GPU manufacturer+ Microsoft issues

What specifically are the WDDM 2.2 issues you're aware of?

there's been driver and graphics issues reported ever since the Creator's Update was released...games not working at all, not running as smooth etc...no definitive word on what's causing the issues but I don't think the introduction of WDDM 2.2 can be a coincidence

I've seen similar things but I can't say that I've seen any problem with game performance across a good number of titles. Next up will be Prey, seems to be a lot of grumbling over the lack of a PC demo but I'm looking forward to it.

Might explain the Firefox issue I'm having with getting black screens while hardware acceleration is on.

Deferring updates is the way to go IMO. These updates don't bring much to the table. Why is everyone rushing to install?
