Which brand 4890 based on support?

Go for XFX. No ATI company comes close to their warranty and support.
 
XFX 4870x2 here. Support may be slow, but it comes through. + resale value on card is much higher due to double lifetime warranty
 
XFX is currently the cheapest 4890s on newegg too! Even comes with a 4GB flashdrive and $20 Mail rebate.
This should be a no brainer.
 
xfx already got one, trust me no other brand is worth it. got the diamond ocx didn't even run at rated speed of 925, artifacts at anything above 900, returned it and got the xfx vanilla and this baby passes every game at 950, and artifact free with ati tool at 940, I don't see any artifacts in game at 950 which is undertandable considering the fact that I am stressing the hell out of it with ati tool. plus you cant beat their warranty and support, no other manufacturer even comes close. I think xfx made a really good move with going ati route, because no ati AIB partner has the warranty, specially peace of mind that you can have with the xfx card.

I am so glad we all agree on something, lol.
 
XFX. Best warranty, best support. They wrote and sent me a custom BIOS for a 8800GT to fix cooling issues. The BIOS update added auto fan control, based on temp, so I didn't have to putz with RivaTuner. Very cool company.

My XFX 4890 will be in hand tomorrow. Woot!
 
XFX for best support and warranty. No other ATI partner comes close to XFX in terms of warranty AND support.
 
XFX, by far. HIS isn't bad, but they can't compare to XFX as far as rebate fulfillment and support in general (above and beyond, covering OCs, lifetime warranty, etc.). Aren't all/most of the non-OC'd 4890's going for the same on Newegg anyway? $230 last I saw, including XFX's card. I haven't seen any with a bundled game so far (much less after-market alternative coolers), so I'd go by support/warranty and XFX is the obvious choice there.
 
anyone know if there is going to be an xfx 4890 with a custom cooler released sometime in the future?
 
Another vote for XFX! As for a custom cooler I have not seen anything yet but I would not doubt seeing something in the next couple of months.
 
Yeah XFX is pretty much the only one offering a good warranty, i'd go with XFX over brands like HIS, Powercolor, PNY...
 
Don't think PNY's doing ATI cards, Powercolor's probably the worst of the bunch (lotta over-OC'd cards). Sapphire rebates tend to be a PITA. HIS or MSI can be decent, but they're no XFX. Oh and GB tends to mess up the rpm-control wiring on all their GPU heatsink fans, dunno why.
 
XFX for sure. Wish I would've been able to see into the future and predict that they would enter the game when I got my Visiontek, but I couldn't :(
 
did visiontek get cut off or what, because they are the only company I haven't seen hd 4890 from. it is not like i was going to buy that anyways, Lack of good AIB partners always kept me away from getting ati card, xfx is probably the best out of all of them. they all lack something, and by the way not only powercolor but also diamond cards are over oc'ed out of the box, tried an xoc version of the hd 4890 clocked at 925, but it did not run stable I had to clock it back down to 900 to make it stable but I returned it and I am satisfied with my xfx card right now. XFX really has a chance to be EVGA of ATI based cards.
 
xfx or sapphire.. only 2 companies id trust.. even though sapphire doesnt have a lifetime warrenty they probably make the best enthusiast ATI cards on the market..

VisionTek is the only company (other than XFX) among ATI AIBs to offer a lifetime warranty; however, XFX is unique in covering overclocking (which, since pretty much most, if not all, the ATI card owners here overclock their cards, is why XFX gets extra props). Also, XFX is actually undercutting Visiontek on *price*, especially in the US (if you look at every sort of retailer that carries both brands, you'll find that Visiontek cards are priced above identical cards from XFX; however, throw in the XFX warranty, and XFX goes from *buy* to *steal*).

Hey ppl im choosing between: Gigabyte, Sapphire, PowerColor and His.
What can you tell about them?
I had two sapphires before but they were all fine so i dont know about support :D

Sapphire and PowerColor have one of the worse support, and from my experience...

totally not recommend for this two brand.

Gigabyte from my experience are pretty nice, they just kind of slow some time, but most of the time they are fine... same goes to ASUS...
 
I bought 2 Sapphire Cards (which have been fine) but would not reccomend them when it comes to customer support after seeing that 1950Pro conflict fiasco between [H] members and Sapphire Forum Moderators.
I wonder if they stepped up their standards since then.

The VT of today is not the same VT that some of us may remember from 5+ years ago anyway, different company altogether AFAIK. They still offer lifetime warranties, but from the anecdotal evidence I've seen they're nowhere near as effective as XFX (and other NV partners) at fulfilling it or support in general.

I'd probably go HIS over PowerColor (over-OC'd cards), Sapphire (PITA rebates, though good cards), and GB... Though some HIS cards tend to carry a premium for the fancier coolers. Nothing wrong w/GB as a company, but they have a tendency to screw around with their aftermarket coolers and disable fan control of any kind on the cards, dunno why.
 
I am seriously considering buying an XFX Radeon HD 4890 XT (or XXX) graphics card. I usually do my purchasing with BFG or eVGA but since they don't handle ATI cards, I wll go with XFX.

I want to find out about XFX warranty service but when I viewed their warranty policy, only NVIDIA cards are listed in the drop down box... why aren't ATI cards listed? Are you guys sure I would get a double lifetime warranty if I purchase an XFX 4890 as it doesn't state this on their website.

I recommend HIS over PowerColor and Sapphire in the budget/value segment also (note that I have an HIS HD3450); their iSilence and iFan cooling systems (budget and value cards) are surprisingly effective. Not many budget or value cards overclock well with poor air flow; however, my iFan-cooled HIS will (not bad for a sub-$40 PCIe part).

I was not comparing VT to the nV AIBs, but to other AMD/ATI AIBs. However, XFX is in a class by themselves (from the anecdotal evidence, they are above even EVGA in terms of graphics card support, and EVGA is definitely no slouch in that area). Then there is the fact that XFX is also less expensive than VT (both online and retail), which is why I put XFX into the *steal* category. (When I do my searches on Newegg, I have it set to rank cards from lowest price to highest; lately, the first card to show up, among cards with the same GPU, is from XFX; ahead of not just VT, but Sapphire, PowerColor, or even ASUS. XFX is proving all over again that you can't always judge support by price.)
 
whole point I was making about Visiontek was did they get cut off by ati as their AIB partner, because they are the only one that don't have an hd 4890 yet.
