When does conroe come out?

The non disclosure agreement voids on the 14th, they are supposed to go on sale on the 23, but stores will start selling them as soon as they can; you wont be able to get one well into August though, unless you have money to pay for the overhead.

and learn some patients bud, no one will help you if you are pushy

no, like I said, the NDA voids the 14th, all that means is that stores can say they have them or will be getting them, they wont have enough to go around though

I'll put it this way, unless you take a big risk and preorder it with some no name store for a rediculous price you wont get your hands on one until mid-August at best.

...if I told you that it would make the Non-Disclosure Agreement pointless wouldn't it? :)

Brick I just want to know. Do you work for Intel. Is it an ES. Or what

lol preorder a processor... I'll pass.. Don't get me wrong it could be like the 7900GT and 7900GTX back in march where they went out of stock often but they were always replenished, the longest time I saw them out of stock was 3 days and even then they were always on a different website for around the same price

hype hype hype

i'm planning on buying my off zipzoomfly when they are released, I want to spend $400 so whichever is better performance wise at $400 a conroe or AM2 (AMD is dropping the prices of their AM2 procs by 30% on july 24th) I still have a feeling the conroe will beat out the AM2 at the $400 mark

I think the NDA doesn't maen a thing - so many retailers have already been shing the 6800.

No one knows for sure out here when the Conroe will come... anything at this point is speculation from us "common public folk". I do think there will be a backorder on them with sparse stock due to demand and the fact that it is going to only be 15-20% of Intel's production volume for awhile... I pre-ordered the first day one was available for doing so on buy.com, back in mid-June. It should pay off in spades not having to worry about being lucky to be on the right site at the right time, and locking in a good price instead of having to pay a jacked-up one if I wanted it *NOW*. I can't wait for my E6600!

What, you think asking in a different way will let him be able to or want to tell you ;) :)?

OP: your posts are 7 minutes apart = VERY IMPATIENT

The few people who know well about Conroe availability at launch, etc... can't (and won't) say what its going to be like. But my guess is that there will be plenty to go around, but retailers won't want you to know that, they'll want you to think.... "OMG, I gotta hurry up & buy so they won't run out"

With the ES's having been floating around for so long, I think they've had plenty of time to build the initial inventory necessary and Intel can certainly keep up with demand.

Even though Conroe is going to be super fast & all. Only the geeks are going to rush out & buy a new PC (or chip). So while Dell will suck up some of the inventory, I doubt that they're going to be selling like hot cakes.

ShopBLT and TankGuys have very good reseller ratings. And don't expect to see the price much (if any) lower in August.

LOL? ShopBLT, TankGuys, and Buy.com are no-name stores? It isn't a ridiculous price considering the 1,000-tray OEM price is $316, and that is in QUANTITIES OF A THOUSAND for NON-RETAIL versions. Plus, this is with demand relatively low, once they launch, the spike in demand will RAISE prices. Unless you pre-ordered awhile ago or even if lucky now, you are not going to get one at a NORMAL price in mid-August at least.

if you are in most of the US, then it is on the 13th, but east coasters can take their pick. The NDA expiry was pulled in to 9PM PST on July 13. Quite the odd time if I say so myself. The reason given is "due to popular demand", but if I was a base cynic, I would say it has something to do with the July 19th earnings call.

Either way, one thing not likely to have a positive effect on earnings is the prices, they are listed as $999 – X6800, $530 – E6700, $316 – E6600, $224 – E6400, $183 – E6300.

it is the inq so who knows if its a sure thing :\

what does ES mean?

"Engineering Sample" chips are those handed out inside Intel for testing and to reviewers/outside technicians to test/review. Some, however, are sold by the people they are given to, breaking their contracts with Intel and selling via a "gray market" kind of deal to people.

tankguys is a good place. i've talked to the owner a lot, he's a cool guy ;)

The Core 2 Duo will be unveiled at an event scheduled for July 27 at Intel's headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif., a company spokesman confirmed Tuesday. Intel CEO Paul Otellini and other executives will be on hand to unveil the chip that marks the end of Intel's Pentium era.
Looks like the official date is indeed July 27th. Not the 14th, or the 24th...the 27th.

Here is a link to the article

the NDA expires Thursday though, so expect to see benchmarks then.

The difference in price between TankGuys and BLT for the E6600 is only $7.. I can't decide which one to preorder from, I just want my CPU!! x_X

:) Yeah... I was laughing at the guy calling those three no-names, not agreeing with him :D. From the forum posts the TankGuys guy has made at XS, he's pretty cool.

Tank Guyz is a rockin place. I wouldn't hesitate ordering from them.

Someone said something about waiting till the 14th to see benchmarks.. lmao.. just goto xtremesystems.org you'll see all the benchmarks you need to see.
