1920x1200 on my lappy. I play CSS, HL2, and EP1 with very few problems. All max, about 50fps

I really love the large resolution. I dont think I would want anything lower.

What resolution do you game at?

Is there a difference between playing high resolution on a 17" or 37" screen as far as fps?

Because if there is how come when I play xbox360 there is no slowdown when going from a 27" to a 56'?

As long as the resolution is the same there is no performance difference.

1280x1024 on my 19" Acer LCD... It's not that great of a display by today's standards, but whatever.

I also sometimes game on my HDTV 1280x720, 1776x1000 or 1920x1080 resolution. Games however don't look that clear on my CRT HDTV, even with HDMI out.

lets say we have a 20 inch monitor and a 40 inch one both running at 1900x1200 will the 20 inch monitor look more clear since its smaller more condensed pixel??? vs the 40 inch.

at 1920x1200 i dont think you would notice that much of a difference, but yes, the 40in would look a bit more streched than the 20in i think. now, if you were running at a lower res you may see a bigger difference

1920x1200 in BF2142

24" Acer AL2416W and a single BFG 8800GTX, was a good xmas for me :D

So a couple of hundred people have given their results, 1680 1050 comes out as the 2nd most used resolution, and that's only 2nd to "1280xsomething" which covers at least 3-4 seperate resolutions.

How is it then we still struggle for widescreen res support in games, how long are people like EA going to live with their heads up their arses?

ea believes that widescreen gives people that have it an unfair advantage over people that dont have it. thats their logic for not including ws in their games, idiotic as it seems.

Yeah I know their apparant "reasoning", kinda pathetic when you take into account all the other things that give people an advantage.

1154x864 most of the time, but if games don't support it I will use 1024x768.

usually 1680x1050 or higher on my fw900.
if i can, i run games in 2048x1280.

but 1200x800 doesnt look bad on this monitor either.

That's their excuse. The real reason is probably something more akin to laziness. If WS is an advantage, why don't they simply ban all resolutions above 1024x768? Or cap framerate at 30FPS?

Don't let this poll fool you. People on this forum are not the typical gamers.
According to the latest steam hardware survey, less than 10% of the users have widescreen.

Yes, it is a weak excuse. The real reason is probably they do not want to offer "official" support for it. The game probably wasnt developed with WS in mind and they dont want to be on the hook if there is a major issue. At least they offer the WS possibility via shortcut option. Some people make it sound like WS in BF is impossible. But it works great for me.
