Warhammer Online Thread!

If you mean % of Order to Destruction (chaos is a "race" within destruction) it varies depending on the server. Most of the servers are pretty much even.

Yea thats what people said about WoW regarding the ally horde ratio.... rarely the case. pfft. sorry about the destruction chaos mix up, i was going for something evil.

Well considering that Mythic lists their servers population based on side (vs listing the entire server as "FULL/HIGH/MED"), I think it's a good indication of how the population stacks up.

Anyone else get poor frame rate on WAR when you shouldn't? I was in a PQ(10 people) averaging around 35fps with my GPU usage at 30%> and my CPU usage at 40%>, but if I get into a large RvR fight I drop as low as 6fps.

My system is in my sig.

35fps with that rig? What settings are you running? Try turning a setting off, one at a time, and see what happens.

Settings don't change ANYTHING, there is a 10fps difference tops between my 1650x1080 4xAA 16xAF max in game vs 1280x720 no AA AF minimum in game settings.

I see its hit or miss with this game. I got no issues except for the game hitching quite a bit.

I wouldnt say crap, but it would be the same old same old. I havent felt drawn into anY MMORPG in a long time, but warhammer has my balls right now. So much going on with the PVE/RVR/PVP aspects oft he game. I never feel like im grinding away.

I think the best thing about the game is that it's pretty diversified starting out when it comes to what you can do. In WoW, you had PVE till....10? Then you got CTF BG complete with twinks with like 1k more health than you. Then next bg is arathi basin I believe, more twinks. Etc etc till you get to 60, then you can pick up some pvp gear if you like wasting time becoming a twink just for PVP. 61 rolls around you're getting smashed by 70s in some BGs. Then 70 rolls around and you gotta start the PVP gear build up if you want to be competitive at all in anything, and respec most likely.

If WAR can avoid the need for gear build up for different utilities but still keep you interested then they've pulled off a pretty good system if you ask me. I got so tired of having a bank full of armor on my druid just incase I felt like being feral/balance/resto at any given time. It was maddening just at that point, then you add on needing a PVP set for each...which you gotta grind away to get. There was SOME item overlap between PVP and PVE, but not much for me.

So right now, level 1 in WAR you can Scenario, open world RVR, PVE, public quest, regular quest, explore for XP, etc. The PVP at level 1 (maybe not easy-win but you stand a chance) with XP on top for it takes the cake. Gets more people involved instead of the twink freaks (I hope twinking is impossible forever in WAR) at all levels.

I jumped and bought it finally. Anyone here playing Destruction side maybe we could hook up. I'm probably going to make a sorceress

Forcing from control panel is just as easy. Also I would like to say by Forcing V-Sync on has really smoothed out the game. It hitches less and seems to run smoother. Worth a shot for some. For ATI users forcing through CCP does not work, but nvidia users should have no issues.

Lots of hitching here, as in every few steps, it's like the character takes an extra step or two that I can't see. FPS counter says 35-45fps at all times, usually towards the middle 40's. Changing settings does little to impact it, all on low, or all on high, no diff.

This is during prime time, and there is no lag meter in the game that tells me my ping.... could that have anything to do with it?

I need some advice. I'm participating in the Troll Crossing scenario (I'm lvl 12 Warrior Priest that gets bumped up to lvl 18 for this scenario). Needless to say, I don't do much damage. What's the best way to maximize the experience I earn from the scenario? When I did it tonight, I got 6k experience, while the leader got about 18k. Any thoughts? Should I just sit back and heal while not doing much damage? Or should I jump into the fray? Does healing others count for more than healing myself? Or is it all the same?

all servers are based in Virgina and with it being a new release, we could be seeing higher then normal pings? It does suck not knowing your ping.

from my experience on the destruction side, the most kills usually means higher exp

watch out for us marauders, we get nasty in t2:D

Installed WarHammer Online tonight...messed around for an hour when I first logged into brand new character. I was thinking this gay, game might be a dud, was totally boring and a little confusing at first. And graphics were weird looking too, not real high end, but more basic WoW looking style.

Then I created a High Elf-Swordmaster which would be like WoW's Night Elf-Warrior, and got this new dude to Level 4, and holy Sh!t this game fucking rocks, at first it was lame, but as you go out further into the world, and higher levels, it really starts to pick up and get way better. Now after going into Level 5 areas and seeing how awesome this game seems to be, and the graphics are cool, with neat far distance and cool scenery, and lighting effects are magic is wicked looking.

I came to this one spot where people were fighting this Level 5 dragon and it was kicking everyones ass, and blew fire on me and made screen shake and stuff, was a fun touch.

So to sum it up, first hour playing a Level1 dude was lame, really didn't like this game. Then once ya hit Level 4 - 5 areas, it really starts to pick up, and now I say this is truly a fun and original MMOPRG, not a WoW clone, but the best RPG released since after WoW. Just give this game time, get deeper into the WAR and this game is very cool.

I'm lvl 11 witch hunter and I keep seeing people lower level than me with pilgrim hat... I want my prilgrim hat!!! Where to get?

as with any MMORPG, you have to give it time. It takes a few hours just to get used to everything WAR has to offer.

I was in your situation just the other day. Once you hit 13 you get a 25% dmg buff, but it reduces your healing by 20%....which hasn't stopped me from topping the healing charts and still doing "ok" damage.

The way to play a WP in PVP(imo) is to toss out hots as often as you can and use your damage healing abilities in combat to help heal your friends. Playing a WP takes a lot of concentration on what is happening as you often have to switch your defensive target to make sure your hots and damage heals take care of them.

I prefer to stay just barely behind the front line to asses the situation then I go in and start healing/pounding away. You are going to get trounced in PVP until you get some better gear.

In Scenarios you're boosted to a higher level so you have more health and better stats, to keep the playing field as level as possible, however you don't get the spells and abilities you would normally have at that level. So your damage output isn't going to be optimal until you reach higher levels for that scenario.

Scenarios aren't too bad, theres no twinks, people tend to play more near the upper limits of the level range but theres still a good range of levels on the playing field so you can always rack up some good damage.

It seems to me that healing doesn't pay out as well as damage does, so if you've spec'd for really good healing like I have with my elf healer then you might be at a disadvantage there. I tend to pull about 50k heals and about 10k damage at level 14.

Couple questions so far,

- Is there a world map to see the whole game and where other members might be ?

- How do my Brother and I quest together the early levels, because I am High Elf he is a Human, how far apart are those beginning areas, and can one of us walk to meet the other ?

- Where is the major city for Order ? And can it be walked to from High Elf area, or need to be much higher levels than my Rank4 ??

- How big is the WAR game world compared to WoW's Azeroth and TBC ??

Have to admit this game is much cooler than I expected, but the very beginning, Level 1 - 3 areas were totally lame and I almost stopped playing, but once you hit Level 5 areas the game really starts picking up and get much better.
The graphics are quite good, mainly all magical effects look awesome, WoW has nothing like that

Yes there are varying degrees of "zoom" showing local area, race area and global area, but I think theres a max radius you can see group mates on it.

You find the griffon masters to fly between zones in friendly areas of the map usualy just outside the RvR areas (these areas are the staging areas for RvR, where you respawn and regroup before you head back into RvR, in T1 you'll be about level 6-7 before you get directed to them through quests although theres little reason why you couldn't go there directly if you knew where it was. On the minimap it shows up as a small globe icon.

If you want to find them before you naturally get lead there through quests then just head towards the orange area on the map which is the pre-defined RvR area and follow the border along (dont cross into the RvR area) and you'll eventually arrive at the camp somewhere along the border, it will be quite large.

Altdorf, you can fly there from the griffon masters mentioned above.

Hard to say exactly, probably about the same as WoW without the expansion, it's better compressed if you ask me, theres maybe less area in total but probably about the same amount of content, so far I've not seen any areas that are like evil side in WoW which are these espansive miles and miles of nothing

What MMO is fun at level 1 - 3? They are all virtually the same in this aspect due to the nature of RPGs. You start weak in the beginning and become stronger as you progress. Basic RPG stuff here.

Anyway, there is a world map. Just press M. When you enter the map, you'll won't see were everyone is since there's no radar like WoW has but you can see were RvR battles are taking place in RvR areas. Look for the crossed swords icon on the map.

To get to other areas, you have to run to a warcamp (basically a RvR prep area) then visit the flight master. It only costs 50 coppers to fly to the human starting area which probably takes 3 mins to earn (1 quest and you should have it).

Warcamps are usually south of the start area so for an Elf, just follow the road south. You'll see a huge boat next to some docks and the flight master is a dwarf.

How to get there with images of the map for reference.
Or you could just look at this: http://www.massively.com/2008/09/06/how-to-get-to-altdorf-ekrund-the-blighted-isle-or-nordland-at/

The WAR world is naturally smaller than WoW + expansion but they've cut out a lot of pointless running and filled it with PQs and such.

I am still trying to figure out the travel design and quest locations.

For instance as a level 9 witch hunter I have a quest to go to the Blighted Isles and the Bloodhorn Mountain(sp?). The red highlight of the map is around a section of the quest givers, almost like I have to talk to someone to get there but I haven't bene able to find out who to talk to or how to get to those two spots.

What am I missing?

I noticed that on a few quests. It said to travel and speak to some guy, but it never told me where!

Just do the other quests and ignore that one, hopefully you will find the guy in the next warcamp.

Those are travel quests, the highlighted map area is for the flight master. Its telling you to fly to Blighted Isles, the zone, then talk to some NPC in a quest hub. All the areas have quests like this, its designed to get you moving between the zones to get other level-appropriate quests. They are skippable if you dont plan to travel.

Well I tried the flight master and the only option I am shown available is the major city so still at a loss as to how to get there.

I think you have to go to the major city then leave that major city. I have no idea, I haven't done mine yet.

What level are you? Do you see Blighted Isle only it's grey out? Or do you not see it at all?

Make sure you're checking the 3 different starting zones on the right hand side.

Dwarves vs Golbin

Empire vs Chaos

Or something like that.

Currently level 9. I see what I think are the three tiers and the locations have huge shields over them. I didn't see anything labled and it could be that I am just overlooking what I need to see. Ill chack again.

As already mentioned, the highlight on the map is to mark the flight master. You can only fly to the location if your side is in control of the area, otherwise it's disabled, so the quests aren't always completeable. You could fly to the closest area and then walk there but that'd take ages and be fairly dangerous.

If you are talking to the flight master, the areas you can fly to are in green, the others will be greyed out. The greyed out ones just means that you are not high level enough to access them. You don't have to physically walk to any locations to "unlock" flight paths in this game.

If the quest need you to travel, it will highlight the warcamp in red. When you hover your mouse over your minimap in that red area you should see a pop of the quests in that area. It should say something like "travel to XXXXX" in the popup. If not, that area is actually in the map location you're currently at.
