Only 1080 and 1060 updated so far in ComputerBase's results, 1080p still shows a bottleneck of some kind, 1080 matches V64 at 1440p and beats it in 4K.

But loses at 4K to the GTX 1080, and now it is significantly behind the 1080Ti.

It competes well indeed, but nowhere near the (Vega BEATS 1080TI HORAAAAAH CUZ IT HAS SUPERIOR ARCHETICTURE AND FP16) crap. Vega is simply now in it's original place.

Depends on how much RPM will be used, added to this still have the TMU's and ROP's to worry about, once RPM is used the shader bottleneck will be removed and the ROP's and TMU's will start being bottlenecked

Exactly, I just don't see RPM making a big impact overall, maybe a few games if the developer optimizes it for some compute tasks that it can be beneficial in. As for RTG wasting time on per game basis? Helping developers with some of their code? Since PS4 Pro and the next Xbox has this, there might be some optimizations for the PC versions but I just don't see it making a big impact on the PC for performance, 5%-10% max as a wild ass guess.

Of course! Who wouldn't want AMD to be more competitive? The whole point of argument about Forza was that AMD fans were holding it up as some "ART OF THE POSSIBLE that can be achieved if only those gosh darn devs would code correctly!" When everyone else understood this was an anomaly and that yes, Vega 64 still barely trades with the GTX 1080. I want AMD to do better and they won't get there if people shift blame from AMD's subpar product offering unto developers not utilizing magic to make the cards perform better.

But the game actually is coded and performing in a highly optimized, best case scenario for the hardware. First on AMD, but now on Nvidia too.

I'm getting around 80 fps at 4K Ultra settings with 1 RX Vega. That kind of performance is unheard of in any other game practically.

So does the HBCC setting work or not? I was reading Reddit and a user there linked this video. Could be BS, but I figured it was worth a discussion as to the usefulness of HBCC. He has more videos in his channel.

 
If true that looks awesome. Vega is blowing away the 1080 in that video and getting in striking distance of the Ti.

How do you enable HBCC? I don't see an option (maybe because I'm running Crossfire).
 
So is hbcc supposed to break the lighting? Because that Vega result has obvious missing lighting in multiple scenes, and the Nvidia cards don't seem to be loading textures right, even though they load them right in other older videos in the same scenes posted by different users.

The texture issue is particularly obvious when you get the close up of Alex yu, and there is missing lighting for the Vega in both the scene with the blue desk and the outdoor scene on the backround walls.

Gaming then Global Settings. Scroll down as it is off the page. :) Then slide it over one notch at least.

If you are in the Window's Insider's program and running Window's Creator update, enabling it will crash the driver. Got to love MS updates. :)
 
Ah, another bash AMD thread I see. Strange, it says AMD at the top and this is an AMD Vega thread. :) Oh well, I see that AMD knows what they are doing now and NVidia cannot seem to get the big boy pants on right the first time. :D

Pretty much this. Doesn't matter if it's the AMD subforum, it's hard to not compare a product to a competitor if the conversation is about performance.

It only work if you run out of physical VRAM.. if you enable and use it on games that doesn't require and utilize more than 8GB VRAM it will Hurt the performance of the games. Its stated that way by AMD.

It has nothing to do with a comparison. If the same stuff where to happen in the Nvidia subsection, it would be closed for being a trolling thread. Bashing is all that occurs here and nothing else. Hell, AMD could be double the performance with 1/2 the power usage and 1/3 the price and we already know what the response of some folks will be regardless. :D

But it wasn't lol. What are you going to say now, it could have been if Pascal wasn't there? Can't say that either cause well Vega/Polaris, pretty much just reached Maxwell (a bit better then Maxwell 15% better) in all those metrics.

Pascal was not a big leap over Maxwell was not till they managed to get the 1080ti out thats when most noticed the difference. The 980ti is still a good card, not sure why some side graded with a 1080, didnt make sense until the 1080ti came out. You guys can bash Vega all you want but the reality is your getting a 1070ti due to it. Vega 56 hit a nice spot in the video card market the 64 not so much.

No one stated otherwise. Pascal did get at least 40% more perf/watt over Maxwell though. If we look at GTX xx80 only its much higher than that. So it was a leap in that regard.

1070ti the only reason its coming out so there is NO QUESTION to second guess the 1070 vs Vega 56. The 1070 vs Vega 56, one gives you performance a bit more (10% or so, Vega), and the other gives much less power consumption by 25%, anyone that can overclock and has the version of gtx 1070 like the AMP! will be able to get very close to an overclocked Vega 56 (that includes flashing to with the 64 bios) and still have power on their side. Might as well get a 1080 right now cause Vega 56 prices are at 1080 prices. Stupid Pack prices.

I don't think the packs are being offered anymore. It's just overpriced now. There were 3 Vega 56 in stock at my microcenter, cheapest was $519. There were 1070s available at $409. While I do think an over locked 56 will outrun an overclocked 1070, I feel that we have been lied to in re. To price.

That is bad, then retailers are taking the same route as the Founder's edition and up charging?

Well I think its priced where it should be priced, remember the SEP was specific to certain retailers and according to Gibbo it was also a separate SKU. At the moment at newegg there are no supply issues with Vega either all air cooled models and even some of the water cooled models there is only a limit of 5 cards per customer, which is decent supply. So why hasn't that lower priced SKU been restocked again?

Pretty disheartening. I wonder if anyone can provide any further insight as to what the real msrp is.
 
Cost... historically APUs made no sense for the enthusiast because of cost. I did a 860k and 1050ti because the value was so much better than an APU. Hopefully the cost makes sense. Driving down the prices of laptops is ok too. :)

I'm assuming it has to be extreme because if performance that score is trash. That's 290 performance which is not bad at all.

290 score is around the rx 580 score, I have a hard time believing its going to keep up with that ;) the rx 580 chip size is about the same size as one CCX module ;)
 
So that's like a HD 6850 or GTX 560.... I don't know what that means so for reference a 7970 gets 4.5x the score. Or 40% of a 750ti.

Not impressed... yet.
