UPS Driver Caught On Camera

OMG that cracked me up.. Not funny to have your shit arrive broken but JEESE man could you avoid the UPS stereotypes just a little bit more?

In a situation that's the opposite of the spectrum, I live in a third floor apartment and my desk is right by the window. I took off work for a day in order to sign for a package that was due to arrive. I witnessed, from my 3rd floor vantage point, the UPS driver come to the door only to stick the attempted delivery notice to my door without the package even in hand. He just stuck the notice on and left. I ran downstairs but was unable to catch him before he turned the corner. I had to pick up my package the next day.

I hate UPS.

That was pretty funny. I actually know my UPS driver so he takes good care of me.

The dude was already outside of the truck and could have easily walked a bit more to deliver the package. I mean really, he had already conquered gravity by standing up out of his seat and was on the driveway when he chucked it. Just sad.

Wow... didn't even wait for the truck to stop completely to get out. On top of that, seems like he didn't care if people are around. I guess he is waiting to get fired or something.

Hahaha he ghost walked the truck to a stop. But, why is this on the front page?

That is nothing you should see how we used to pack things in the truck....the heavy shit that came down the slide..oh it was nasty...but in all fairness....it looked like a sweater in a bag. I trust his judgment.

I hate UPS.
My sentiments exactly.

Luckily, my driver doesn't throw my packages around, but he certainly pulls out the delivery attempt notice about half-a-second after he rings my doorbell. I generally prefer waiting until after he's finished it and posted it on my door before I pop my head out. That way, he's expending the maximum amount of energy on my deliveries.

Not as flashy or artistic as Ace Ventura, but still pretty wild. Pretty good toss and aim.

its on the fp, because most of the people who frequent [H] order parts, and other things online, and i would venture to guess the majority of those orders are delivered (or not) by UPS....besides it was funny...mostly because it was not my package, this time.

wait, maybe it should be another Apple or Steve article? =p

dunno, the 2-3 forum responses a minute might give you an idea though...;)

Everyone here orders stuff online, most of it PC parts. The video card you bought that arrived DOA and you blamed on Newegg might have been damaged in a half court free throw by suparUPS man....

My sister stood at her apartment balcony watching a UPS guy unload packages from his truck to a garbage dumpster about 2 months ago.

I mean, an APARTMENT complex where you have hundreds of possible eyes watching you.

That's one UPS driver who will be looking for a new job soon. Anyone who thinks that kind of delivery "service" is limited to UPS alone is an idiot. You can just as easily catch FedEx, USPS, etc. drivers doing the exact same thing.

That was a freaking epic toss. I dont know why people complain about UPS though. I have always had good service from them and never received anything that was physically broken from shipping.

I still blame shippers most of the time for packing thing so craptasticaly. Most places just use the "put item in box, throw packing material on top" method which leaves your items sitting on the bottom of the box ready to get damaged.

lol, I was just at Microcenter the other day talking to some employees about this. One of the guys worked for UPS, and he said some of the package sorting facility employees just drop kick things sometimes. Another person I talked to caught a UPS employee on camera kicking his monitor across the ground to his front porch after he dropped it. He notified UPS and they paid for another new monitor after he RMA'd the original, so now he has two. :p

I love responses like this. Bro, just cause you've had good experiences doesn't mean we've all had good experiences.

Our UPS guy through my new TV off the back of the truck on my driveway and took off without ringing the doorbell.

It's a good thing I was home and saw it out the window, the next door neighbors will steal anything valuable looking left outside. UPS got a nasty call from me.

When I worked at TCWO, people were surprised when they were told their RMA was denied because components shipped in envelopes (envelopes like the one in the video) were damaged (sticks of RAM broken in half, PCB's with chunks taken out of the corner, etc.)

Surprised now? ;)

I have to say all my bad shipping experiences have happened with ups.
The delivery notice thing really pisses me off though, over the summer I had ordered a bunch of new computer stuffu from newegg.com and eagerly waited for it to arrive. I thought that having a driveway full of cars and a baby shower happening in my backyard would be a hint to the ups driver that someone was home. Well much to my dismay I got a delivery notice and had to wait even longer....ups never again, anyways fedex has a better logo!

The best way to deal with problem deliveries by UPS drivers on the route where you work/live: Phone it in. Every time. Complain. Complain loudly. Detail and journal everything that happens. To the minute. If something new happens, remind the representative of your past issues.

Christmas week, the UPS driver (there's 3 on the route that deliver to where I live, two of them are awesome, those two frequently have to clean up after the third who is a real piece of shit and both told me to complain every time he doesn't do it right)... decided to deliver a package next door, still had mine in hand, walked back to his truck and drove off. No "unable to deliver" sticker on the door, no attempt to even come up to my steps and ring the doorbell. I was standing on the steps the entire time and even called out. The guy saw me when he turned around but instead just stepped inside his truck. He didn't even head straight back to HQ either. Saw him deliver two more further down the street.

20 minutes later, the tracking number info reported my package as undelivered because the recipient was unavailable to sign. I phoned it. Explained the situation and detailed previous incidents to the rep. I got a call back after the rep was unable to contact the driver (they told me exactly why: He wasn't responding) and told me to call again if the package delivery has any issues the next day they can deliver (day after Christmas)... considering this was a next day air package... Meh.

Well, my street is among the last delivered to before they head back to the main distro center, so it's fairly predictable when the packages will be delivered: 5pm to 5:30pm. The package was redelivered by 1pm. The phone call bumped my package up to a higher priority status and was given to one of the other drivers on the route. He apologised and informed me that if I EVER have any additional problems due to that third guy.............

He left it hanging. I got the hint. Compliment and compliment HEAVILY the good drivers. They will be your pals and back you up if you ever have any problems in the future that's due to anyone else that shares their route. Get to know their name, offer a shake, etc... Stay on good terms with the good guys. Remember who they are. Show your appreciation. It helps in the long run.

Previous issues:

No rung doorbell, packages being thrown down the alley (including an everything-but-the-cpu package from Newegg), being delivered to the wrong address and signed for by someone other than myself (my address is marked as a location where ONLY the recipient can sign for a package to be released due to this third driver's continuous fuckups), completely lost and unsigned package marked as delivered AFTER my address was flagged as must-sign (tracking said delivered, no name, no signature), etc...

Unfortunately, those bad apples have done a great job giving UPS a pretty craptastic reputation and the good ones out there bear the burden of it. Heavily.

The only people I've ever had leave delivery notices are FedEx.

I love responses like this. Bro, just cause you've had good experiences doesn't mean we've all had good experiences.

Everyone has bad experiences with every place. Even awesome places like newegg people have had bad experiences with.

UPS and Fedex are still the two best shippers in my book, both have done equally bad shit and it really will depend on your luck of the draw with the area you are in and employees that your package passes by on its way for how good of service you get.

I can say differences in policies do bug me though, Fedex has done this shit where they hold packages until the delivery date at the local center and will not let me pick them up while UPS seems to always to to deliver ASAP in my area and will let me pick them up if they do not have room on the truck and opt to wait another day.

The ones who came to my door to transport my dead 360 away were quite nice and they delivered it fully working to me ^^ Generally I prefer DHL though.

So far no evil story about UPS, although I'm sure one will come. Have had stupid FedEx and DHL people though...

FedEx guy had left a note saying that he'd left my package on my balcony. Thought he had just had a brain fart and really meant office or something. But no... he had really thrown my new ipod onto the balcony of my 2nd floor apartment. (wonder how many times he missed?) Luckily it was Ok and he hadn't hit my window.

DHL guy had delivered some ram from Fry's that was in a padded envelop. Instead of leaving a note when I wasn't home, they left it in front of my apartment (with the doors lined up in plain view like in a hotel) under my door mat, with one end of the ram sticks propped up on the door sill. Luckily I straightened out my doormat before I stepped on it and noone had seen it before I got home.

These guys really make you wonder what goes on in thier heads...

I have worked before when I was in high school for UPS, The drivers have a route they have to do in certain amount of time or if not they get penalized, now if the go over productions they get bonus. That the way things are with UPS and Fed ex. This only in delivery, you should see what happens inside the trailers when they are being loaded. I have seen guys steal things and stuff them into theirs boots, Their are tons of stories.lol:D

If that's the case, there needs to be an ordinance of sorts to put a stop to this. Our town banned the local Pizza Hut franchise from making the "30-minute or it's free" advertisement because it was causing delivery drivers to break traffic laws and risk causing accidents.

Steve, you don't realize how accurate this statement is sometimes - this video gives me the creeps :(

I wish I still had the pics of an DEC Alpha 4100 that we sent to a company March 07. From the looks of it UPS ran into it with the forklift and then crushed it with them. Then to top if off ran over the raid cabinets and smashed all the harddrive enclosures for the hell of it.

Yea, the company I worked for had a bad UPS experience call and complaint and said if we ever get the same guy for pick-up we will never use UPS again. The driver was mad and cursing the hold time he was at the place. UPS said that can't guarantee that. Well the next time for pickup was the last with UPS. We had our UPS rep, calling us all the time trying to get us back.

Friends of mine that work for UPS explain they cant do anything to the driver because of the union. Then they told me what happen thereat sorting. No wonder all my boxes come broken from UPS.

Very true. Our UPS driver passes 2 times a day. (~8AM and ~2PM.) After years of dropping off the envelopes in the morning he stops by and drops my package in the morning during that route. :D Saves my time and gets me more time to play with new hardware. So everytime I get a package, he will drop it off in the morning and do the rest in the afternoon. :p

There is plenty of stuff on liveleak that would get the same amounts of response here. And by that logic, a video of a car crash may be what made your ungodly amounts of ordered PC parts late!

Anyways, like someone earlier in the thread said, the package looks like a soft package that wouldn't have been harmed. Definitely can't tell enough to vilify the guy from a blurry video.

That's pretty awesome.

Once I ordered an expensive cologne online. So the UPS guy comes up, knocks on door, and gives me the envelope with quite obvious hole in it. I look at the package right in front of him, check that there's nothing inside, and I tell him, are you kidding me? the thing is empty and there's nothing in it. He's like, yah, I'm gonna take it back and report it. So he leaves.

I got the cologne sent to me again by the store, because on the tracking info they put "package compromised/stolen".
