Everyone has a different price consciousness. I realize the extra $200 is a lot of money to some people. Most console sales don't occur until after a few price drops. I'd bet money Sony will do a price drop before Christmas of this year.
Adjusted for inflation a PS1 today would be about $375. PS3 is priced out of the mass market price, and 360 is skirting the edges of it, only falling into the mass market range because of the core, which is no bargain itself
