The Witcher

As I said, you're also missing dialogue that, although the EE fleshed out most of it, keeps the full experience that the Polish experience from us.

I bought the game digitally through gamsplanet which is based out of the UK for the uncut version. I don't see the EE patch on their site so where should I download it from?

Of course, you could also buy the UK version from GoGamer for $50 and also have a hard copy. Which somehow strikes me as the better deal.

just to revive this thread...

I'm hooked. I'm in the middle of Act II and I almost don't want to complete the main quest as I'm having so much fun with the side quests. I spent one day just gambling with folks. I nearly have enough coin for that "Excellent Armor" or whatever it is called for 5,000 orens.

I broke off that to go have a party with Shani. I saved right before I invited my first guest so that I can replay it a couple of times inviting other folks. I'm saving Carmen for last... I have my suspicions. ;) I should have made the Wive's Tears potion first. I'm thinking I'm going to regret not having that one.

I am totally hooked on the stoyline. Its brilliant. Extremelly well put together. A beautiful game and one of the best $20 I ever spent (bought it used with all the original bits and peices included).

Why are people trying these elaborate methods to get the uncensored version? Just go to FRY's and buy the 18 year version instead of the 17+ version. I have all the cards, nude dryad, vampires, blood etc.

Finally finished the game. I have to say it was a very enjoyable game. This is the kind of game that you want to finish but yet you do not want it to end.

Very very good game. Played in normal difficulty and combat is too easy. Gameplay is linear but interesting. Graphics is very good (shame to NWN2). Worth every penny paid for.

Very pleased with this purchase. Looking forward to more RPGs from CD Projekt! Thanks Poland!!!

i need to go back and play it again. i lost my save file and i had just started act 3. oh well, gives me a chance to finish as many of the side quests as i can (which is really where all the fun is) :)

They are working on a new console game currently. And then plans for another PC title.

:)

Yeah, I got an email saying The Witcher was coming to Xbox 360 and PS3. Disappointed as I was hoping for The Witcher 2 next year!!

yea I just started playing this too.

I have to download the unofficial patches and then dive in.

I really need to play Side Effect and Price of Neutrality. I keep getting side tracked with other games.

The Witcher 2007 version was simply an epic game, make it past the relatively sedate Act I and the game becomes something very special - beguiling and immense.

Agreed, this and Stalker were my favorites of 07. I still haven't played the EE yet, need to finish some other games first.

I just got EE based on [H]'s reccomendations, and so far, I'm very into it. my only real gripe so far is that so many characters share the same models, with NO variation. It jsut bothers me haha. Otherwise, the gameplay and story and graphics and all deliver quite nicely. I've had 2 crashes but I think its more my hardware than the game. It does it on a few other games after an extended period of play (probably a little bit too overclocked).

But all in all, really into it. only 6-9 hours through so far though, so I'll wait on a final judgement :D

After playing this more I'd say this was easily the sleeper hit of 07 and 08.

I just started Chap 3 a couple of days ago. Its insane the scope of this game. I'm loving every minute of it.

The details are all over the place. Just talk to random strangers from time to time to make sure you get some more random info about the world.

If there ever is a Witcher 2, you know I'm picking up a copy.

I have the uncensored version that I never ended up playing... I'm looking at doing so now. Should I just install it and play, or should I get the Extended Edition patch? If I do that, will it have the censorship, and if so is there a way to get rid of it from there?

no,yes,no,n/a

I believe the Enhanced Edition is also censored. But, if you uncensored it once, I think it remains so.

Either way, pop over to The Witcher forums and get the uncensored patch. You can also get the blood and gore patch with opens up a few more blood effects.

I think your confused. He has the non-US version, which is not censored. He will download the EE patch that is applicable to his version. Which means it will not censor something that is not censored to begin with.;)

Ah! I thought he meant he had "unlocked" his US-spec version. That makes more sense.

Either way. Play the game. Tons o' fun. Pick different choices from ones you made last time. Be an arsewhole to characters if you were nice to them before. Its really solid.

Very late to the party...just installed yesterday.

Welcome to the party dude. This game is amazing (and that is not just for the nudity). I wish I could speak polish though cos apparently the cut scene dialogue is far better than the stumbling translations the english version gets. I heard talk of a patch to improve this.

Also the quick-save functions makes a new save EVERY SINGLE TIME. So if you are a compulsive saver (as every other game has taught most people to be) you can rack up 10+ gigabytes (yes, you read that right) in save files through a play-through or two.

^ i just got a graphics card yesterday.... and from what i can tell its the most worth while money spent for a pc game.... besides maybe counterstrike source :p lol i've been playing that game for several years now and it never gets old... get the enhanced edition though

so im going to buy this. just wanted to know if i can buy the regular version at gamestop or something, and then download an official patch to fix any bugs and get it "unlocked"/uncensored, or would i have to find an unlocked version?

can you unlock the enhanced edition? im assuming thats the version that i'd want to buy.

You can check out this thread over at the Witcher's forums or you could probably Google for the uncensored patch....

You basically need to replace the censored files with the uncensored ones. I'm sure it works, though I can't that through firsthand experience. My version of the Witcher is the UK version which I bought from go-gamer.

The Enhanced Edition is a full patch that's out which will update any older version of the game to EE...so there really isn't a need to make sure you buy the EE version from any place.

I don't know what order those two things need to be installed (EE patch and uncensored stuff) so you'd have to look that up. My guess would EE patch first then the uncensored patch.
