oh okay Cyberpunk wasn't one of the best games I've played in the last 5 years I was just confused.
i said this is not good, not talking about the game

Politics aside, I sure do hope they offer a first person camera option for those of us who dislike third person games
Why would you be interested in TW4 then? I highly doubt they'll provide anything like Cyberpunk 2077.

You are probably right on them not offering 1st person for the next one.
I'm interested in it because they make such fucking good games. Witcher 3 is one of the few 3rd person games I played for a good number of hours, because of how good it is.

A full blown dark fantasy first person game done similarly to Cyberpunk 2077 would be quite awesome though.

We can dream, right?

My hopes are on Wayward Realms to set the new standard in excellence for first person fantasy RPGs but that game is probably 5+ years out from being released

Unless there's more to this than just these tweets, I don't see what the problem is. You disagree with his take on the lore and that's the extent of it? It's not like he's tweeting unhinged racist crap like that Obsidian Hanson cretin.
He is also a former game journalist and editor of The Gamer. That of itself is good enough reason to keep him as far away as possible from any loved franchise.

Someone took the time to dig through all his tweets so yes it gets worse.

devs admit to abandoning lore and seeking out a "new modern audience"....

Aight, I might be missing something because I haven't kept up and it's been a few years...

How is the lore being abandoned? I've read the books, CD Projekt Red pretty much took things their own direction because there wasn't any direction after the books really unless I'm just completely forgetting something...like I said, it's been a while.

Sure, Ciri isn't a Witcher and there was a lot of story around NOT making her a Witcher, but there's plenty of room and lore fuckery to fit it into the existing lore. I mean we practically have a sort of multiverse already, so no telling what they can pull out their ass.

The whole thing reminds me of the buildup to Witcher 3 anyway, with people angry about this and that and following lore, but turned out to be excellent.

there are several posts in the get woke thread you can check out...

She will be a lesbo. Can’t be anything else these days because all women are lesbo according to popular media.

Damn, I feel old using the term lesbo. What’s the new hip word for women being gay?
Also consider the majority of gamers are men, so if you're forcing them to play a female character, having them romance male characters can be... awkward, for the player.

This is becoming falser by the day as nearly half of gamers today are female.

Don't like a scene? Skip it. Pretty simple.

is that that poll that included phone games?
Does it matter? Gaming in general is such a broad term to use. So I'm just sharing a stat based on his term.

What we should do is showcase percentages of who will be playing Witcher 4 - and I can almost guarantee the percentage of women playing it will be significantly higher than the reported 25% in Witcher 3.

yes it matters, its not at all the same thing and that poll has been used to make silly arguments..
sure, guess we'll see, but what is "significantly higher"?

Gaming is broad, but the industry itself has shifted. More women are playing RPGs now than ever before, and The Witcher 4 will likely reflect that.

"Significantly higher" means more than 25%, because gaming trends are moving in that direction. If CDPR expands accessibility and marketing, it wouldn’t be surprising if we see a 30-40% female player base this time around.

But regardless of percentages, forcing people to play a certain type of character has always been a part of storytelling—just like Geralt was the only option before. A good game makes you invested in the story, no matter the protagonist and its narrowed down love interests.

That is really patronizing to think that female players would only be interested in playing games with female leads.

Bam! There it is. Thank you. This would be similar to the comment about male players being uncomfortable as playing as a female character during romance scenes.

Not getting into your guys argument, but graphs like that usually include gacha games and mobile games like candy crush etc. The actual ratio demographics of the kind of games this forum discusses tend to be way more skewed towards male. I'd wager that some genres like "Souls" and "Soulslikes" skew like 80% male.
That said some genres (like story based RPGs with deep character customization) tend to be more balanced, (though still skew male overall if it's the kind of console/PC games this forum discusses, not some mobile trash)

If you think The Witcher 4 making Ciri the protagonist is "woke" then "read the damn books"

"There's a whole rich world of stuff to explore with Ciri, that they didn't do when they put her into Witcher 3, because the story was about Geralt. But she hints at it. If you think it's woke, read the damn books – they're good, first of all. And secondly, you won't think it's so woke anymore"...

I don't think them making Ciri the protagonist is woke.

The end of 3 was strongly suggesting that she would become an adventurer, and what an awesome character to pass the torch to!

The fact that she's significantly less attractive and has a bulky, masculine jaw is woke.

It COULD just be a coincidence, and entirely devoid of ANY wider cultural movement but considering the huge amount of new media significantly de-sexualising, de-feminising and ugging-up female characters for the sake of attempting to appeal to a 'modern audience'... Who knows. Probably a total coincidence.

It's not woke that she is the main character. Turning her into a Witcher is what is woke. She was never a Witcher in the books and was never referred to as one. The game writers turning her into one is disrespecting the lore.

That looks great - not sure if the jerkiness is just the video stream, but impressive nonetheless.

Really impressed that it's running on a PS5 and still looks that good.

Is there a Game expo happening now? Footage looks great but no combat.

I'm hoping for tomorrow's Sony showcase we'll get to see combat.
