Brother I couldn't care less about this, I think she's absurdly hot. This is internet brain disease, I'd rather people not fall victim to it but so be it if it happens.
You seem to care a lot, otherwise why argue so vigorously otherwise. You can think whatever you want but I don't give two fucks about your opinions or concerns. This wouldn't be an issue if companies were not using games as a medium to subvert social expectations and values. If this was 5 years ago I wouldn't think anything of slight changes to character models, but in this age we know these are very deliberate and subversive. Moreover, if they are prepared to alter the appearance of characters for the sake of "The message", what other subversive design decisions does that portend. I don't care if you disagree, but we have already seen these debates play out with other AAA games where ardent fanboys were proven to be categorically wrong on all counts. I don't give these companies the benefit of the doubt, especially those which insult and deride their customers over these issues.
If the in-game model doesn't have an aged similarity to the Ciri we know from TW3, then I will agree with you on that. If not, then we should hope that they not turn it into SBI-like garbage.

Personally, I'm neutral on TW4 until I see gameplay, dialogue & story shown in live-recorded videos (w/o touching up or manipulation).
Agree 100%, and said as much in the previous post. I am reserving judgment for now.
Never thought I'd see the day of ferengi commenting on game esthetics.
Is this meant to be insulting?

Witcher 4 and Elder Scrolls 6 in 2026!...?
Gaming Ragnarök.
That is interesting, but I thought it was in one of the witcher games or shows that said there are no female witchers because the process was basically suicide if given to a female. I honestly don't remember where I heard it from. But I am thinking it might be a retcon on the lore on the wiki page, from the history it seems that section was added in Aug 2, 2024 and the edit before that was done in 2022. It wouldn't be a first time someone edited a wiki page to make sure something fit their needs.
I was commenting on the link showing that some of those from the School of the Cat were female.

The trailer was made by a third-party company called Platige Image. They made the intro cinematic for The Witcher III, and in that cinematic the faces were also more rounded and exaggerated. Animation companies sometimes do this to make the emotions on the faces of the characters clearer. The only character who looks like their in-game model in this one is Vesemir.

That's at least reassuring, but I still don't trust that CDPR doesn't have an agenda. We will see.

I dunno, maybe i was the only one that thought "oh fun a new witcher game to play". I forgot to analyze the bone structure of ciris face for authenticity.
100%. All this bull about agenda and "the message" is really turning me off from this thread. I haven't been this excited for a game since the Witcher 3. Siri looks awesome, the trailer has me entirely hyped.

Older I get and less time I have for gaming the less GAF i have. If I find out Ciri is trans and that is why she can undergo the transformation to become a witcher, im fine as long as I dont HAVE to play gwent.
in this new Witcher, playing gwent is now mandatory... trans gwent though 😏 🤙

Gwent has to be the worst card game included in a RPG I have ever played. It is literally just a game of who has the bigger numbers without any nuance. The field rules are just a distraction. The only thing that can make it even slightly interesting is your commander's ability that can only used once during the entire game.

Anyone know if it's the same Ciri voice actress from Witcher 3? She does sound much older in the new trailer.

CD Projekt RED has confirmed Ciri will be voiced by a new actress in Witcher 4...Ciara Berkeley has replaced The Witcher 3's Jo Wyatt...

"Ciara Berkeley was cast as Ciri for The Witcher IV Cinematic Reveal Trailer...Ciara is a talented actress who impressed us with her enthusiasm and vocal acting skills, and in this trailer we believe she truly brought Ciri to life in a way that is both faithful to the character and exciting for fans of the series"

Funny how my post was deemed political and deleted, but the posts by certain members here about "modern agendas" were not.

A bit too early to tell honestly, though if this game does water down the theme/setting that will erode one of the things the Witcher games did well. Witcher 2 had some technical short comings, odd animations, and so real clunky gameplay. Witcher 3 greatly improved upon these but the fighting still was never the great. Sufficient, but not that good. The story at times took way too long, and it required a bit too much annoying collecting/selling of crap to buy new gear. But the overall lore design was quite nice, as was the dark fantasy setting. I think if that aspect of Witcher 4 is eroded people will see how the combat is a bit lacking, unless it is notably improved over Witcher 3.

I will also say Blood & Wine was quite a nice story that was semi detached from the main story and in ways better than the main story quest.

I'm looking more forward to Witcher 1 remake, though I assume any issues that prop up for Witcher 4 will be carried over to that.

As suspected, an even bigger red flag than the announcement trailer are the people now employed by CDPR. Cian Maher is the new lore and franchise designer whose background includes being a shit stain journalist for respected outlets such as IGN and Kotaku, and an editor for the left wing rag TheGamer which routinely publishes smear pieces on developers who don't tow the line, as well as attacking gamers who take issue with ideologically driven game design.

What's worse is that this guy has actively defended the garbage Witcher Netflix shows and even published a 3000 word diatribe for USA Today arguing that season 2 of the Witcher was right to deviate from the books. Here are some of his twitter posts for those to lazy to go digging themselves:

He is so full of shit because it is well known that the showrunners didn't give two shits about the lore and this was the reason Cavill exited. God help Witcher 4 with this dipshit in charge.

I would be very (unpleasantly) surprised if CDPR went woke.
This game is still years out and I expect more and more woke games to continue to underperform or outright bomb in terms of sales. It should be clear to any studio not reliant on Blackrock DEI funding that making their game woke is going to negativity impact sales.
Don't CDPR enjoy more independence than most studios?

Unless a Polish dev goes big, it seems most do a good job at keeping neutral or conservative providing balanced games. CDPR is polar opposite of that now.

I put in about 20hrs to Cyberpunk before putting it aside to play on better hardware, and it didn't strike me as woke, more like diverse, in that personal identities weren't the focal point of any character arc

Would be quite tragic if they jump the DEI shark, well I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now based on their existing work

and it didn't strike me as woke, more like diverse, in that personal identities weren't the focal point of any character arc
old cdpr knew how to do diverse without making it woke. old cdpr doesnt exist any more...

They have devs in Poland and devs in California now. Those in California had more direction over cyberpunk.

Unless there's more to this than just these tweets, I don't see what the problem is. You disagree with his take on the lore and that's the extent of it? It's not like he's tweeting unhinged racist crap like that Obsidian Hanson cretin.
