sorry if its been asked but I dont want to read through this and have anything spoiled.
Does co-op give anything away from the sp or are they two different stories. Should I hold off on coop until I beat sp?
For Portal2? Already? Hell, the world record for the original Portal is still 10 minutes from when you wake up to destroying the last core.
Edit: Yeah just checked, Portal 2 is not on SDA yet.
Screenshot? can't visualize room.Non story spoilers. Puzzle question.
What is the correct solution to the puzzle involving one laser, 3 laser misdirection cubes, a door that is opened by having two switches activated by lasers, and one launcher in the bottom of the room?
I solved it by putting a portal above the launcher, putting another portal on the ground level wall, then walking through the wall portal and VERY quickly shooting a new portal exit on various high walls to slingshot myself or cubes using the launcher.
Obviously that's a solution, but it feels like the wrong solution since it required really fast aiming, and even with a mouse, it was kind of a crapshoot and each launch took multiple attempts till I got the second portal in the right spot.
If no one can figure it out from my description I'll take screens later. I don't want to go searching for portal puzzle screens because I haven't finished the game and don't want to spoil anything :lolScreenshot? can't visualize room.
I just can't recall any puzzle where I had 3 redirection cubes. If no one can figure it out from my description I'll take screens later. I don't want to go searching for portal puzzle screens because I haven't finished the game and don't want to spoil anything :lol

I can think of two puzzles where we got 2, but no faith plates.
Is it where the faith plate smacks things into a low ceiling above it, and the lasers are high up?
I did that by putting a portal above the faith plate and the other in the floor, you'll fall through the floor onto the faith plate which will ping you back through the portal, you'll then fly upwards, and back down through the portal. As you're bouncing like this continuously you need to aim the portal gun in the split second you're in the section above the faith plate, at a wall and when you're pinged back through the portal in the ceiling the momentum will send you flying out of the new exit.
I don't know if that's the intended solution because it requires fast aiming in the split second you're between the faith plate and the low ceiling above it, but it works easy enough. You use that same technique to collect all 3 laser cube things and redirect the same laser back and forth through those power nodes.
Oh yea.If it helps, the room has tall ceilings. The laser is on a high platform on the eastern edge of the room. The exit is on the same plane, opposite side of the room, and is guarded by a bunch of turrets you need to fry with the laser.
The faith plates are just above ground level on a platform a little too high to jump. There's 3 of them lined up in a row. The only way to reach them is to put a portal on the ceiling above.
That's the one and that's exactly how I solved it. It just felt like a really hacked together solution :lol Almost every other puzzle had an almost turn based feel to it, so to solve this one using frantic split second aiming felt weird.
What ground are you putting the portal on? The only usable surface I could see (while still being able to hit the ceiling above the faith plate) were on the wall, which is why I needed to very quickly shoot the new exit portal. There was no half pipe style situation I could setup.
fastest I see with scripts is 13 minutes, and normal play of 24 minutes
where is 10?
The ending is glorious!!!!
Finished it.
I enjoyed the game (there was some really good moments) but is was too short and way too easy (I'll see how much co-op adds to it in the future.)
I agree it's a shame that they removed much of the portal jumping to make it easier for console players. Now it's just setting it up then it feels like a cannonball, no skill invoked
Much of the game seemed more like I was playing halflife2 (but with no enemies to shoot at), than the original portal. The goo was cool, but I feel they could have made much more of it.
Not the value for money I'm used to from a valve game or the re-playability, I really hope HL2.ep3/ HL3 is better than this.
Yeah I love the ending.
I'm in Space. I'm in Space.
Also the orchestra of turrets.
Cave Johnson has some of my favorite lines in the game. I LOVE the line about lemons. JK Simmons did an absolutely fantastic job.
Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Wasn't a $40 game IMO (coming from Valve anyway), and only 2-3 of the puzzles took me longer than 10 minutes or so to complete.
