It's well worth it. I love this game. Go all in. It's on Steam and GOG now so there are no excuses.

Yea, I bought this even though I'm not actually needing a new game to play. Just wanted to finally support it being free from the CCP.

Bought it on GoG. Wasn't going to because Cyberpunk was coming soon, but with the delay I figured why not. I have to say I am liking it more than I expected so far. :)

I really enjoyed it and just finished the first DLC. I'd like to maintain the momentum and jump into the second DLC, but unfortunately it's around six-months out!

Let me know how it turns out, thinking about picking this one up.
Thoroughly enjoying the game. It's got a Fallout / Borderlands vibe which works and works well.

How you configure your character makes a big difference. First playthrough my character is set for persuasion / sneak with a little bit of gunplay in case the previous combo doesn't work givin the situation.

I do like weapon and armor upgrade system. Scrounging for parts is the way to go since purchasing parts can get expensive.

I really want to play the new DLC, I have to check to see if I have a save before I ended the game, I don't want to go back and replay the game to play the DLC.

Couldn't stand it. Wasn't interested in the story at all, had little motivation to play through. And it seemed like the enemies became much harder. They took a good 4-5 times more hits to kill than the base game. Base game may have been a tad too easy, but now everything requires 100-300 shots to kill? Bad decision. Easily one of the most boring things I've played recently.

And I quite enjoyed the main game. I'll still play the 2nd DLC but not going to be in a rush to try it.

It depends on your character. Mine has long gun to 100+, and I ended the base game with Assault Ultras. The DPS for each rifle here was like 123? Sniper was 300? Now thanks to the DLC, I can get Mark 3 Rifles, heavily spec'd up. I think have a DPS of high 100s, low 200? Sniper is like 450+? I carry 3 rifles with me at all times, each a type of mod (plasma, corrosive, electric) and then a sniper rifle (shock). Even playing on hard, nothing really stood a chance against me if you use the right mod on the right type. Especially if you roll with a SAM unit. When in doubt, roll use plasma unless its a robot.

'Murder on Eridanos', the second and final Outer Worlds DLC scheduled as part of the Expansion Pass, will be released before the end of March...the news was shared by Take-Two, the parent company of the game's publisher Private Division, during yesterday's Q3 2021 earnings call...

Wow, that's great news. I loved the game and first DLC, and have been waiting for this!

i still didn't finish the first DLC. Hope they make this one more accessible to players who played through the main game. Only reason I was able to start the first DLC is because I had so many saves to go back to.

Yup, I couldn't even get to the first DLC. Was pretty disappointed.

I played the game through Xbox Game pass, which doesn't come with the expansions.

So I'll likely be getting the expansions and actually buying the game as a whole during some future steam sale, because I really don't want to spend money on games through gamepass.

I played vanilla, from what I'm reading it doesn't seem like the DLC's add enough to make it worth coming back to.
I love Chris Avellone and overall I think Outer Worlds is an excellent game - but critically I feel like the last third of the game dragged game play wise and then the story itself felt rushed.
I know a good portion of the issues was due to development and being forced to get the game out on certain deadlines. Unfortunately it shows. I think there is a real opportunity though for a much more fully fleshed out sequel to fill in a lot of spots that the original game couldn't.

I'd still recommend it if if people haven't played it to give it a go - but for me it's definitely a one and done - I just don't feel like there is a reason to go back and play it again.

The Outer Worlds Update 1.07 Patch Notes

Save files from beyond the “point of no return” will now allow players to access the “Peril on Gorgon” and “Murder on Eridanos” DLCs.

LOL, sure would have been nice if they could have provided this before the first DLC so I wouldn't have had to replay the whole game!

I'll wait and see if they ever add the expansions to Gamepass. If they do, I'll probably just start all over and play through the whole game again. I don't remember a damn thing I did in my first playthrough. Hence, I hate when companies drag their feet with DLC. If they wait too long, I'm not coming back unless it's free.

Edit: POST FROM PRIVATE DIVISION IN COMMENTS:

Hey guys, I am one of the game release managers for Private Division. Can provide proof to mods if it's needed. This should be all sorted out now, hope this layout helps a bit! We'll be sharing this around in a few different locations to help provide some clarity for players.

If you're using EGs: The second DLC won't show up as an add-on in your library but it will be fine when you boot the game. You can check if the DLC shows as Owned on the store page or if you see a checkmark over Murder on Eridanos in the bottom right, you're all good and have the DLC activated.

If you see this in game, you're good:

If you own the Expansion Pass or Bundle on EGs and don't see that check mark, please try signing out from EGs and fully closing via the task bar.

I was going to post the IGN video my only problem with this game it looks really good but immersion is wrecked because it looks like Bloomed out playdoh. Fallout looks realistic and like alot of time was put into the design where this game was just made to look good the motto is keep it ugly and leave out the tuna factory.

Umm, this game was made with a specific style in mind and it works in spades, remember Its not the best choice, its spacers choice.

Why does every game need peak realism, that is stupidly limiting to the medium.

I love the game. I'm sorry this is the last of the new content.
Same.
Also, I didn't have any trouble installing it. I only tried a few minutes last night and am hoping for more time this weekend to play it. At 4K with everything maxxed, the last DLC was a little choppy on my 1080 Ti, but it's super smooth on my 3080 now!

The 2nd DLC sucks. Spent more time looking for something called an RR&DD Access Card than anything else in the DLC so far and have yet to find it. You'd think clues or objective markers would be a thing. Damn near unplayable. Do they really expect us to spend 10+ hours searching an entire map for a little access card on the ground in some unexplained random location?

I wouldn't say that it sucks, but it certainly isn't the exciting, final sendoff to the series that I was hoping for. I suppose when I played it for the first 30 minutes and hadn't even fired a single shot, that should have let me know that it was going in a different direction than I anticipated. While I applaud them for trying the whole "Murder Mystery" angle, it unfortunately didn't deliver for me.
