it's not vague...they announced that if you already own the base game plus both DLC's you can upgrade for $9.99...otherwise the game will cost $59.99...as far as Game Pass I doubt the new version will be made available...the closest comparison is Death Stranding where the Director's Cut is not available
505 Games published Death Stranding on PC, which isn't owned by Microsoft. Obsidian is owned by Microsoft.

we'll see...but I would think it makes more sense to only have the original version on Game Pass...that way you can get people to pay for the improved version...the older game will act as a sort of demo...I also thought that Game Pass doesn't have any DLC available for most games

After reading this thread/latest news about the "whatever edition", I decided to reinstall the base-game since I last played it on my old 2600k OC'ed to 4.2....

Well, using rig in sig, even when installed on my nVME, the game is still a stuttering shlock-fest.

- Like another poster said: stutters aside, the game just doesn't feel fluid. What a buncha crap....

(I am NOT gonna buy the 2 DLC's and then spend another $10 just to get a decent running version of the game... that's ridiculous. I'll wait for it to go on sale or whatever)

Looks like the Spacer's Choice Edition is getting ripped hard. It apparently performs worse than the original, even on a 3080ti and a 4090, and some of the visuals appear worse. I'm tempted to buy it to see this trainwreck for myself, must resist.

I bought the upgrade and tested it out during lunch. Performance is uhh.. lacking.

13600K
RTX 4090
32GB RAM

35FPS at 4K with everything set to "Ultra" settings. GPU is at 100%. I am running latest Nvidia drivers.

YIPES.

I hear load times are much improved with the new version...might be the only 'upgrade'

aside from the lousy performance does it now support widescreen 3440x1440 in settings?

There's always an ultrawide thread on Steam forums, based on what I'm seeing, that's a negative. LOL

Pay $10 to get worse performance! Yay!

Really trying to emulate Bethesda in the worse possible way now, it seems.

exactly as I predicted...one of the reviews I read today on the new Spacer's Choice Edition stated that "this version of The Outer Worlds is not coming to Xbox or PC Game Pass"

It seems that Obsidian had nothing to do with this "upgrade", it was in fact done by Private Division and Virtuos Games.
Virtuos Games is known for the OG port of H:ZD to PC before it was fixed by Guerilla, and the Switch port of The Outer Worlds, And some fucked up Batman game for the XBONE, and a Wii game or two.

The Steam discussion thread for this game is tearing it a new one. Performance is fucking terrible and worth a couple of patches before I will attempt it. I hope they can get their shit together

I went ahead and paid the $9.65 since I wanted to play the old version of the DLC's with the old version of the game, since I found out that
when you "upgrade", they give you another version of the game seperate from the OG, so you can play what ever version you want without being forced to play the new version. And you can copy over your old saves from the OG version to the Spacer's Choice version if you so desire.

Geez, there's no way the visuals justify that kind of performance penalty.

That's a Hard Pass for me!

A 4090 + a good/new CPU should pull 60+ fps in 4K with almost anything that isn't straight up busted or half-assed. At least assuming DLSS is implemented. If something is going to pull 35'ish FPS, it should look like a next-gen title.
Hopefully whatever is wrong with this upgrade is a broken setting or something. I was kinda hoping to buy this for my wife's birthday, but not now.

I really didn't think they would screw it up this bad so I'll hold off on doing this "upgrade". Is the console version running into any issues?

graphics look better but it's not a huge upgrade...for people that already own the older version it doesn't seem worth it but for those (like me) who haven't played it yet then it seems like the definitive version (after a few patches and a price drop)

Patch released today for the Spacer's Choice edition, made a huge difference. Lowest I've seen is 80FPS with everything on ultra. Most of the time it's in the mid 90s.

Okay, that's encouraging. Might grab it for my wife's birthday, now
