Crucified why?

I've already said my vote, but I'll say it here;

New map with a starter pack of diamond tools and a small cache of diamonds - 16 or so. Or starting with economy enabled and a set amount of money to begin with. So we can buy tools to start out with. Our choice of what kind of tools.

I'd hate to lose all my work, especially since I just finished my lair and am almost done with my floating island. But that would fine. This world is getting a little stale, imo.

Also, it might be nice to do what we did with a few of the Hashland reboots - have an evening to explore the world before deciding to re roll a new one, in case we're not happy with the landscape.

Since we're capable of running multiple worlds on the server, maybe shortly before the 1.8 update we could start rolling out new worlds to test.

Ideas?

if you explore the world, it reduces the chance to get 1.8 features... which is why we are making a new map ?

I will get crucified for this, but save the money and go with AMD.

Prepare the cross! :p It's not reealy saving money if they want the powaa. The most powerful AMDs availible now barely compete with last generations i5s. I would say that that board might be a little overkill, with 3x x16 slots. Aren't there any cheaper boards with less features?

Arg...game keeps saying I ran out of memory..

Are you running 64bit java?

Couldn't we just get the seed from the world we like, then restart it using that seed at 1.8?

Actually, if your server is running 1.7, you are going to lose almost ALL new features from 1.8 when its out, the patch is just to huge, and with NPC villages, the more the map is explored, the less likely to run into these.

And my vote for new plugin goes to Better Than Wolves Mod

Could we do this: Create a new map, but keep the existing one around as a submap ala what we do now with Skycraft and Wasteland?

Okay, so I favor option 1.

Well, except my proposal was to make the new map the "main one" and the existing one a "subland" of sorts.

I Vote # 2, new world !

Also g1, post up a paypal account or something so maybe we can send some donations your way for teh upgradz!

Also you mentioned something about if we did do option 2 you could put the current world on your old atom server for the people wanting to visit? yes no?

Rawr, I miss playing with you guys, might have to start back up again (would have to buy another account since brother took mine). WoW is taking up wayy too much of my time.

I vote new world too. just have greathone import the parts that was build into the new world.

What's your MC name again?

That would be nice, but at the same time it would be fun to start over from scratch... though being able to go back to our existing builds and loot them for materials isn't a bad idea either.... hm....

I vote for option #2 with a lot of extra verbiage that I'll try to condense into cliffs, just as suggestions, obviously. :p

* No inventory transferred to the new world - I hate to say it because I mined/built my ass off, but let's all start out the same. Memorials etc. would be fine if protected.

* No spawning items whatsoever (will wreck the economy)

* Themed areas (cities etc.) should have documented guidelines that everyone should follow.

* We should have agreement about mods, especially relating to anything that could wreck an economy. Like, the repair mod is ok but crafting diamonds would be out. Crafting ice/sponges would be good to keep.

* Defined admin roles and limited power, things like the ability to move bedrock (spawn point protection, memorials and protected areas excepted)

Boooo :p

Just to clarify, my giving diamond tools suggestion was a one time thing for each user at the start of the world. Not multiple times. Unless I'm not privy to it, I don't think we can spawn items right now anyways...

Im not a fan of starting over, ive spent a month or two building, and i know others have spent way more time

I would be fine with starting the server over, even if I would lose my massive bedrock pit :p

It would be nice to see the memorial and other important structures ported over though if possible, as long as it wouldn't cause corruption.

Alternatively, I don't think anyone's really built much in Hardcraft 2, Skyworld, and the Wasteland, so could we just wipe those in favor of a new map and keep HC1 up?

Yeah I hate the idea of redoing even what little I've done, as compared to the vets.

Sorry, didn't catch that, but that's a good idea.

I need to have G1 show me sometime how to restart the server successfully... I don't know how.

Ooooh. New rule for the new world (if we do it); no floating bridges/walkways!

That's probably one of my bigger MC pet peeves ;)

Skyworld being the SINGLE exclusion.

All bridge/walkways/minecart runs must be supported by the ground.

As far as the server build goes, step up to llano and go AMD.

I think we all worked hard for the supplies and should be able to keep them.
No Spawning is a good one.
Themed areas should be documented agreed
I don't think G1 would ever put a mod on that would harm the economy if that is put in place.

Defined Admin roles and limited power is something the server needs. The way G1 has set up the server as it is now there really isn't much need for admins. The only thing I can see them doing is enforcing rules and settling arguments and only there only needs to be 3 really. I think we have to many admins as it is. And they should be people who will be responsible with the roles of being admin.

(Sorry I was a bit late with posting)

I vote for whichever option lets us keep this world as well. I am growing tired quickly of starting all over from scratch.

I agree, plus it should be open to still build on. Not just some museum. I know there area things I still wanna do with my place and others may want to finish working on their's as well. It should be open to do that.

My take on rebuilding is that this isn't an MMO - where we can absolutely rely on the servers to be there. Especially with us not putting our money towards the server. We can't really expect to keep everything forever.

And honestly, with how often we had to start over between the original Hardcraft, to the multiple Hashland worlds... we've actually had this world the longest I'd say.

It's about time for a new world ;)

And honestly, it would be great to find an NPC village and completely quarantine the village with a giant stone wall!

If we start new I can move some of this server to the atom box... just HC1 no other maps also.

Less plugins, more freedom to players remaining

A new world is fine. But Keeping the resources and the old server as a 2nd world would be good to. And it would mean less work for G1 having to move the memorial around. set up a fund and we can all contribute money to the server.

Shit, looks like I really did bring the server down :( I can't FTP into it or anything.

I would vote for choice 2 if we can keep some of our supplies.

also i was wondering if you can change the amount of slabs that you craft from 3 to 6 because 3 slabs needs 3 blocks which if you think about it are really 2 slabs on top of each other so you are losing some blocks in the process....

I thought I read somewhere that there had been a lot of stuff spawned early on.. Maybe that was one of the old servers.

Not true. Im the only one who can spawn shit on the server , and i didnt spawn a HUGE quantity of any materials. I did spawn some stuff , but most of it was destroyed .

Maybe you're thinking of Hashland? Hashmang would spawn sets of diamond tools and armor and leave them in chests. Every few days he'd refill them. Then before the last Hashland reboot, he would spawn materials to help construct larger projects.
