Wheel of Minecraft!

It would be sweet if the main continent could be reproduced to scale in Minecraft. Some of those cities were gigantic.

I'll get there eventually; I have a huge backlog to catch up on, new games on the horizon and I'm starting to get interested in Dwarf Fortress again, which is a bigger timesink than Minecraft. And Dungeons of Dredmor got me interested in some of the classic roguelikes... OMG :eek:

But I'm thinking TW: Shogun II is the place to be for now.

Back on topic:
As far as I know, at the time, thieving was permitted hence the ability to lock your crates and advice to hide yo' wives, children, and husbands. I don't have time any more having gone to a full time work schedule to be trolling and sneaking around like that, and would rather enjoy casually building my own miniature empire (which was inevitably erased) somewhere in the deep foggy unknowns and lagoons. Arr! (besides, that's what pirates do anyway)

Yes seriously. Seems lighthearted enough to you, but it's disruptive to other players, specifically the admins who have to clean up your mess.

Also, it was stated previously that Dude's server more-or-less followed the rules of [H]ardCraft. One of the rules on HC was no stealing. You do the math.

The fact that you admit you were "trolling and sneaking around" should tell you all you need to know about whether what you did was allowed or not. If you want to casually build your own miniature empire now, I suggest starting an SSP world.
 
According to Notch's Blog they are just going to keep doing pre-releases adding stuff and polishing up until Minecon at which point they'll just take the game out of beta and release.

Well you forget also that if the community gets a game server, the current community runs it. The people that are aware of how to run it, and are the senior members. I'm not sure if there is anyone here that would let you in even then. A new server doesn't mean your slate is wiped clean.


Either way you can't really expect to let back on Dude's server in any sense, it's a private server, so he can say who can and can't get in based on anything he'd like. Your name starts with a C... I hate C's your banned... yeah he can do that.
 
Here's a good idea: In a game dedicated to collecting mats, go around and steal mats.

Provided he's not allowed to lock his chests and we can steal from him at will. :D

I like that idea.

Alternatively, we could wait until he makes his own server; then go rob him blind and replace the walls of his build with pumpkins.

No one in the community likes you anymore after you admitted to stealing people's stuff. Do you honestly thing that you would be allowed in any server run by members of the [H]ardcraft community? You do know that the admins would pretty much be the same, right? You do know that no one is going to forget about this stuff, right?'

Regardless, seems if you run bukkit or similar plugin you are screwed since they will only be doing pre-releases until Minecon.

Pre releases and Adventure Updates
The adventure update is going great! We’re adding features and cramming in content, and then started feature creeping and content creeping. What we’ve got on our hands now is somewhere in between a finished Adventure Mode update and a version of the game we’d be proud to call just “Minecraft”. Not “Minecraft Beta” or “Minecraft Alpha”, but just plain and simple “Minecraft”.

And we’re going to release that version of the game live on stage in Vegas at MineCon! Woooo!

Up until then, instead of trying to squeeze in another real release, we’re going to do weekly (or so) pre releases, aimed at advanced players. We release these via twitter, so make sure to follow me (@notch) and Jens (@jeb_) if you’re interested in those.

So instead of getting an actual release of Beta 1.9, we'll just be getting Minecraft 1.0 or whatever.

So hope you enjoy 1.8whatever it is at. Currently I got shipped off to the sandbox so I havent been online in a while to play, don't know any good servers unless the one here is nice? Although at one point only [H] members with X amount of posts were getting white listed.

if that isn't the case I wouldn't mind trying to hop on from my sandbox location now and then to try and build stuff if I could get white listed --> DakinX

[sarcasm]Yeah yeah, I filled people's houses with lava for fun when I stole. Was my unique signature[/sarcasm]

And like pumpkins destroyed any blocks, being plantable only over open unvegetated grass; tbh I wouldn't might if you guys planted pumpkins. Would save a lot of trouble and effort of doing that.

The fact that you stole items other people worked to acquire is enough to deem you unworthy of being able to interact properly on a server.

Anyone care that its appearing to transition towards more of an RPG and less of a sandbox?

I prefer the sandbox mode. I'm not enjoying the more RPG like elements already, and am not really looking forward to potions and all.

Hopefully they don't make using potions and the other RPG elements necessary to actually enjoy the game. I'm already bummed that I have to continually eat.

Doesn't really bug me. It's called Survival mode and this was always what it was supposed to be. Creative mode is back for those people who just want to build. And even in Survival you can ignore the food, potions, etc. Sure you'll be at half health if you starve, but it doesn't matter much if you're not venturing far from your spawn. If you want Survival mode without enemies, the server admin can do that too by setting the game to Peaceful.

There's an option for everyone, really.
 
I am fine whichever way it goes myself, I was just curious seems a lot of people are fuming over the hunger and other RPG elements being added. Regardless if you are building in an area and die, whoopity do. Unless you somehow die in lava and lose all your materials ;)

Supposidly I read somewhere that theres a MP mod that shuts off the hunger thing..... not sure.
