I'm still wondering this whole corrupt admin/nk is abusive thing came from......

(You mean we should reward people for stealing from others?)

Ramp, you know that I'm not the most kid-friendly person, but ANYONE who threw the tantrum that Daniel threw the other day because there wasn't someone online and at their keyboard who could give him build rights within 5 minutes wouldn't have gotten them either if it had been myself in Dude's shoes.

I run minecraft.exe using this .bat file.

@echo off
java -client -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseAdaptiveGCBoundary -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=500 -XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit -XX:SurvivorRatio=12 -Xnoclassgc -XX:UseSSE=3 -Xincgc -Xmx3096M -cp Minecraft.exe net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
exit

put it in the same folder as minecraft.exe

This gives Java 3GB of ram. You can change -XmxxxxM to change that to something else, ie 2048 for 2GB.

The one simonizer is using!

I like the one you use (what's it called?)

What's wrong with my pack? The cobble is ugly, but its supposed to be. Everything else looks good.

I'm using the purebd one now anyways; I like that one better :)

Maybe it's the designer in me. But that just looks hideous.

Yeah think I'd still prefer the LB Photo Realism x256 pack. That along with the water shader mod really makes for some beautiful scenery!

You'll never convert me! :p

Too cartoony.

That's the whole point, kinda. His original goal was to make it look like it came out of a comic book. So you can say he hit his mark.

I played with the realism packs, well this one in particular, for almost a week. It just felt dark and dungeony, especially underground.

Some people obviously like that, but, too each his own :)

i never use any texture pack... i like vanilla cause if i make something beautiful in vanilla , well it will be beautiful for everyone!

Yeah this texture pack and mod were destined to be together. I really loved how it got rid of the graininess in distant blocks. Now if only they would get them 100% 1.8/1.9 compatible.

I'm using DocM77's texture pack right now... x32 vanilla base with some tweaks here and there. I can't stand vanilla glass. :D

Well done texture packs leave the ugly textures ugly and the good looking textures good looking. So, it's not like building something out of cobble and dirt is going to look good. The best packs try to stay as true as possible to the ideas of Minecraft, while making it look worlds better than the default 8-bit textures.

I tried PureBDCraft out last night. And really disliked the UI elements.

Back to default textures for me I guess :)

I don't care for the UI either... not organized enough. You can use the GUI from any pack. All you have to do is take the GUI folder from the pack with the GUI you like and use it to replace the GUI folder in the pack that you plan on using. I'm using the GUI from the KOP photo realism pack. You'll probably want to keep the items.png and icons.png files from the purebdcraft, though... ones from other packs don't match very well.

If you want, I can upload my zip file somewhere for you.

Here's what it looks like with the GUI from LB photo realism:

And here's what it looks like with the one from KOP photo realism (I think this one goes with the purebd pack better):

Anyone know if there are any clear water mods out that are compatible with 1.8/1.9? the Crystal Clear Water one that everyone was using was made by a guy named Roundaround, and as far as I can tell, he's abandoned it and abandoned the community.

I think some people picked up development but that'll take time.

The Water Shader mod is still being updated. Don't know if it's quite what you're looking for, but it definitely makes water look a lot better. Adds quite a bit of FPS lag for me.. gonna have to play with the setting to see if I can get it to a tolerable level. You can find it here.

:EDIT: I set the AA to 1 (default, whatever that is) in the config, and it doesn't seem to lag much if at all. The water is less clear with AA at default, but I think it looks better personally. With AA on 4x the water is almost too clear; you can see all the way down to the bottom pretty much everywhere.

Yeah, that just makes it prettier from the top, but when you're underwater, it's still murky as shit. The mod I'm talking about allows you to see better while you're underwater. Decreases the opacity and the fog created by the water.

Thanks though.
