It is on par with Aion and with the gear checks it is even worse. Compared to leveling in GW, Rift, WoW, LoTRO, SW:ToR, hell any Western MMO; Tera requires more level grinding then any of them.

Yea I don't buy it. There has been so much questing and other things to do making this not grindy like Aion was. (Although Aion is not grindy anymore)

so i've played in three closed betas (total play time: 6 combined days) of Tera. they only run the closed betas on the weekend, and i work friday, saturday, and sunday (restaurant industry). getting a full night's sleep every night i was able to get to level 38 (the level cap in closed beta.) if i had to estimate i'd say i've played less than 30 hours to get to level 38.
 
The problem with Tera is that you can't level up through PVP. Needless to say, I can't wait for GW2 because of this :)
 
I guess, now that I think about it it wasn't as bad as Aion. I haven't played for over a year and haven't been involved in the forums since I quit. I do remember hitting max level in Rift a few days before I did in Tera, probably because I don't understand a lick of Korean. Back then I had more time to play, but with getting married and my wife giving birth to our son I haven't been involved in the MMO scene since. At higher levels, well around 40 or so you can repeatables from a dungeon that helps speed the higher level process up, but I do remember quite a few dead zones that just required straight grinding on mobs due to a lack of content, quests, and dungeons.
 
I think I've always been an anomaly in the Western MMO scene. I'd rather grind content that involved being in a group (thus you meet lots of people) over 9000 quests (which I consider a grind anyway, since you're just doing Kill X over and over and over again) that can all be done alone (and thus everyone does them alone).

Aion was the second most fun I've had leveling in an MMO since WoW (back when it was first released and the world was populated and there were group quests, WoW today is horrrrribly boring during leveling up). The amount of people I met and the crazy stuff we got up to while grinding in elite areas, dungeons and rifts, just kept making me want to log back in. I probably played Aion for 8+ hours a day for the first month, had that much fun. :p

I thought I read something about the first beta weekend being at the end of April. I believe this was either posted on twitter or on gw2guru, but it was a month or more ago and I'm unable to check as most gaming websites are blocked on my work computer. Googling "gw2 beta end of april" turns up a bunch of results though.
 
the first BWE is starting on the 20th of this month. anyways, they were handing out keys at PAX east like candy. 3 per ticket and regina/martin were giving alot out by their mmo panel.

i have come into some keys, and this is an odd question but does anyone know of a site where i could sell one of the keys?

People that are so hard up for cash that they decide to sell beta keys are pretty pathetic.
 
dunno what's the big deal. my friends and i all have multiple keys, we gave out some already and i have no one else to give it to.
 
The selling of beta keys is against the TOS of both the video game and of this site. Further discussion on the subject will not be tolerated. Those that do will be dealt with appropriately. Take it somewhere else, we do not want that here.

Has anyone confirmed ordering a physical copy at Gamestop and getting a beta key on the spot?

I am prepurchasing as well but figured if I'm gonna spend the same amount for a DD version, I may as well order a physical copy and have the box as a trophy...

I just want to make sure that Gamestop gives me a code today...
 
I'm actually having a very hard time deciding whether to buy the CE or DD version.

I have all 3 CE versions of GW and I like the cool (in-game) extras you get with CE, but in this case, the only extras seem to be physical items and as much as I think I would like them, I think they ultimately just take up space.

Nah, dont do it. The in-game stuff is the only thing that matters. Actually, resale value for original GW Collectors Edition was so high because you got some in-game extras that could only be gained through that edition. Im probably just going to go with the normal retail copy.

edit: although the rytlock pet might be ok.
 
I'm honestly worried that down the road there will be some kind of additional "in game" reward or item or prestige thingy for GW2 CE owners and then I will kick myself for not getting it.
 
Yea I'm getting the DD. I know that in a month if I don't get it I will be regretting it. Also, I want to support this game and I think they deserve $20 more since I'm not going to be using the item shop.
 
I'm in! Can't wait for the beta weekend this month. I have been waiting to play this game for a long time.
