The Official Core 2 OverClocking Database *READ 1st Post for Instructions*

Nice OC Mark.

You got another one?!

Hm... videomasterz, will you be including the Pentium Dual Cores based on the Core2 into this DB? Like the E2140/E2160/E2180/E2200/etc?

sure why not :) I'll add them in too... I need some time to organize the db a bit though getting kinda messy for the stats page... TOO! Many mobos to list now that support socket775! crazy!!

my e6600 seems so stale now :( maybe time to upgrade to a 8400! :D

I can't get anywhere NEAR that stability at those voltages. at 1.395 in my BIOS (which usually results in 1.37 according to CPU-Z in windows, I can orthos for 20 minutes or so....UGH. How do I get 4ghz at such a low voltage....

mine is sittin at 4ghz also at vcore 1.28 idle and 1.24 full load (accordinly to cpu-z), tested up to 8 hours on orthos small ffts

3dMark scoring would have been higher "56k" if I was not on such a high resolution across two monitors.
P.S I'm running 8GB of RAM on there :)

Is it just me, or does anyone with an Abit IP35 series have to bump up their voltages a lot for their E8400s compared to others?

I mean, I can't get stable at 3.8 Ghz with a voltage of 1.35
Although I'm good at 3.6 with 1.25 volts running through it
*shrugs*

I have the Abit IP35 PRO w/ E8400 and I can do a 430MHz FSB (3.87Ghz) with 1.275v easily. But you're right, it's like theres a wall there. I really have to push the voltage a lot to get it over that hump.

Initially I did have problems getting it to 3.87Ghz at that low voltage but some of the guys on another thread helped me out. I'm using 4 sticks of Crucial 1066Mhz RAM that is suppose to run at 2.0v. They told me that when they switched from XP to Vista they had to up their RAM voltage a couple notches to get things stable. I bumped my RAM voltage up to 2.2v and things got a lot more stable for me.;)

Whoa, 1.275? That's pretty good, I'm doing 3.8 on 1.32 right now. I've tried the RAM thing but, maybe it's just my chip. Ah well :(

Have yet to touch the RAM timings- all set to "Auto" in BIOS (rated "stock" timings are 5-5-5-15).
RAM voltage set to 2.0v and CPU core upped to 1.280, all other voltages left stock.

This is my first Intel system- just graduated from Opty180/s939- and still coming to grips with the BIOS options.
Sweet chip though...hope to break into the 10's in SuperPI soon.

Just throwing this up because it surprised me so.

Flashed to the new Gigabyte F12 BIOS- only apparent change is the ".5 multiplier" option- and was considering where to go next with my chip when I recalled some talk about a "hole" in the FSB that seems to sit around 450 or so.

I wondered how deep that hole might be and decided to try 8 x 500, just kind of randomly picked it out but the resulting numbers had a pleasing symmetry to them...nice round 4000MHz clock speed, RAM exactly at it's 1000MHZ advertised speed and a rated FSB of 2000 even.
Figured it might boot to desktop but not much more.

Well, it did boot and seemed OK so I set up an Orthos run and left to run some errands.
This is what I came home to...
1cdc6e16.jpg

Note the vCore.
It's set to 1.275v in BIOS so there's some droop under load (Orthos reports an idle voltage of 1.280, so there's a bit of inaccuracy everywhere it seems) but this particular chip seems to thrive at lower voltages.
Very odd.

Also, my temp sensors seem to be "loosening up" or something.
When I first got the chip a few weeks ago, it would NOT read below 35°c, regardless of the ambient.
I froze my tail off with a window open only to see the temp remain stubbornly fixed.
Now, under more normal conditions- i.e., window closed, me comfy- idle runs a more realistic 26-28°c...much closer to what I would have expected with effective watercooling.

Next I think I'm going to try lowering the vCore again- maybe 1.25v- and see what happens.
Meanwhile I'll enjoy the warm and fuzzy feeling that a 500FSB gives me...

Update: I was able to reach 3.3 after updating bios but not able to go higher than that.
