The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

It'll unpack...it's compressed.

Ah, right... completely did not come to mind. Most of the games I've ever pre-loaded have not been compressed, which is why I usually let them download overnight, with the exception of a couple that I cant even remember.

How's BL2 going to play on my rig?

8 GB RAM, 2.67 GHz E7300, Radeon 6850. Choice of 1080p (TN) or 1200p (IPS) display.

Honestly? Should do fine...@ native res as well. I'd be surprised if it can't do 75% of the settings on high with solid framerates.

What I'm more curious about...

...how is the download only 4.5GB?

The campaign is claimed to be roughly 60hrs long, that's one straight play-through, which is unheard of in the FPS world these days, and Borderlands might be stylized in it's visuals, but it's definitely no slouch in that department.

4.5GB for a 60hr campaign and much higher-res visuals than the first, with all that content, seems off to me.

I'm willing to bet the campaign is closer to 25-30 hrs and you''ll have to beat the game twice to reach level cap, hence the 60 hrs.

Anyone care to venture a guess for the best solo character to start with? I'd like to take my time and listen to the dialogue and explore everything my first time through.

I'd prefer to hit the level cap sooner rather than later so I don't have to put like 500+ hours into it to get through all the characters. :D

commando by a mile, as you'll always have a constant companion in the turret ;)

preloaded and waiting... I never played the first version but know people really liked it. everything I have seen about this one looks pretty bad ass. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. :)

I forgot to add my steam id earlier, add evil3e on steam if you want to play when it unlocks. I watched a few videos in anticipation and decided to roll with a cc/heal Maya so I hope to find a solid co-op crew to play with. I still wouldn't mind trying out a cc/aoe build with Maya also...decisions...decisions

don't know if anyone posted this earlier...advanced graphics options!

Gearbox are relatively honest, cool individuals and, according to their own statements, a single playthrough (if you're not blowing through) is roughly a 60hr campaign.

I'd be loathe to think they'd make a statement that bold, knowing people are going to find out when they play the game, only to have every fan in the world come down on them about some blatantly dishonest statement.

But, stating tonight, we'll find out if the comments about their playtesters having taken 58hrs (the exactly number they quoted) to finish a single playthrough is true or not.

@cannondale06: They've stated clearly in articles everywhere (IGN, RPS, countless sites) that the campaign is 60hrs.

Following a playthrough of Borderlands 2, Gearbox has said the game's main campaign takes around 58 hours to complete. Keep in mind, that is just one playthrough with one character.

“What we like to think about it is, Borderlands is a hobby. Some guide guys just did a playthrough of Borderlands 2 and they reported back to us that it takes 58 hours to play through the campaign – and that’s just one playthrough with one character,” Gearbox's VP of Marketing Steve Gibson told Gamerzines.

3 hours! I seriously hope that is true, I'd love to give it a short go before bed. The trick will be pulling myself away to sleep for work tomorrow...

That's a funny joke you told there. :)

That doesn't happen with these games. You start playing "a short while" is at least an hour or two.

I strongly recommend you avoid it like the plague until tomorrow. ;)

No work for me tomorrow :D. It's been a while since i've stayed up till midnight for a video game. I'm stoked.

^^ That's a lot more believable.

Can't wait!

Well, I'm not one to just makes things up, so there ya go...

If it's actually not embellishment, that's rather the feat. Again, I don't remember a game in the genre in recent times, with the exception of something like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, that offered that long of a campaign.

For a game such as Borderlands though, which is straight-up action, that's even more of a feat.

Listen to this guy, he's right on the mark.

There's no such thing as, "I'll just play for an hour" with something like Borderlands, especially when you're into it as much as my self and my wife, and apparently Q-BZ, here.

Next thing you know, it's 5am and you have to get up for work in two hours.

Is there anyone here that wants to play. Don't feel like doing it solo at launch.

I'm jealous. I go back to work tomorrow after having had the last few days off. Horrible timing :(

As luck would have it, my wife also returns tomorrow after spending a month on the other side of the country. So, I get to tear it up all night in BL2 without interruption, take a nice afternoon nap, go pick her up in the evening, and then tear it up again :D. Tomorrow will be a good day for me.

Green man gaming is screwing alot of customers.... Bought my copy, got charged, and no key still...

Alot of people having problems with them, and some have had no response from them for days...

Have you checked your keys under your account? I never got an email from them, but a key did pop up about 2 days after they said they started issuing them.

This will be me. :x

Better make lots of coffee for tomorrow!

Me and my wife as well.

One genuinely good advantage, I work from home so I can just crash on the couch at times.

Two other "good" advantages, I'm an insomniac anyway and my wife currently has a head cold, so she's calling out of work tomorrow.

Either way, that means Borderlands 2 until we pass out.

I'm probably going to wake up to find my wife slumped over her desk, face mashed on her keyboard, drooling on her WASD keys, hand still clutching her mouse, ha ha.

Same here, kept waiting for an email then today I went to the site and checked the key on GMG's site. I got my bl2 key and got it preloaded, but still no key for my season pass (not that I need it yet).

So glad I work from home. I never play games while I'm supposed to be working, but I'm not even going to kid myself that I'll be getting any "work" done tomorrow. ;)

I hope your right, I would love to see a 60hr Borderlands campaign. I just feel like it'll be half that for a play through. Check out the IGN video review where he hints at 30+ hrs of Borderlands 2,

http://youtu.be/zfwmby3razI?t=4m39s

The 60hr figure was from the guys who are writing the official game guide. Since they have to 100% everything it's probably safe to assume they had to beat the game twice to max out their characters.

I wish I was off tomorrow... it's going to be a lonnnnnnnnng day... but the wife goes out of town weds - sunday so I get some catch up time this weekend. :)

I have to try and stick to being productive this week but this weekend's minilan at my place (courtesy the wifey taking the daughter to the in laws) should let us really sink our teeth into the game. Thanks Honey!

I finally get home so I can activate my key and greenmangaming is down. Son of a gun.
