The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

What kind of frame rates are you guys getting?... Anyone with a 670 getting solid 60 fps with physx enabled?

tried it last night and I like Zero for his high dmg revolver. This is the reason also why I loved the BL1 due to their high dmg capacity on snipers and revolver. Need more time to develp axton since I havent got my turret and Zero is just badass from the start. LOVING the game so far.

You should be able to use it but do you really want that much wattage and heat pumped into your rig? It might throw off your overclock if you have one.

Yeah I've got an OC going on both the CPU & GPU, could turn down the main GPU to stock and give it a shot. 'Only' have a 700w or 750w PSU though, might not be enough power though.

The answer to that question is going to be highly dependent on the resolution being used.

Staying mostly around 70-80 at 1920x1080 with PhysX on normal. It goes into the 40s during PhsyX heavy moments though. I'll have to turn it back to Low since those drops have caused me to go into "fight for your life" mode too much.

is that with a 570 in your sig? or a 670.

I'll be playing @ 1920x1200 gotta wait 2 days in the uk

what are people setting their FOV to?

I think I have a 21 inch monitor at 1920x1080. FOV is at 90 currently. I tested a little bit higher and even though the gun I was using felt a little "close" sometimes, anything higher than higher made it feel like everything was too far away, if you know what I'm saying. It was like a tunneled vision almost.

Hard to explain but if you've used an FOV that was too high before you know what I'm getting at I hope.

Does anyone have a solution to the textures loading blurry, or is this a hardware issue? When I open a chest, the stuff inside is just a horrible blurry mess for a few seconds, and it is really annoying. I've seen other people on the Steam forums have the same issue, but some say it's just the game engine. Everything else looks and plays great.

Hopefully there is a config file to change the way those load.

I only played a little bit last night, just up to where you meant Hammerlock and it was pretty much 60fps far as I could tell. I use v-sync otherwise I'm sure it would've gone higher.

All settings except FXAA were maxed, Physx on High.

i5-2500k at 4.4ghz
Asus DirectCU GTX 670 (stock for the card)

Res: 1920x1080

I have the exact same card/cpu as you^ so it seems like it's nice and optimized :D

I love the Asus cards. They've been the coolest/quietest. You pay a little bit for that, but it's worth it.

I'll be diving into it more tonight so we'll see if I can get some larger battles going.

Also. I am NOT running the absolute latest drivers. I think I'm on the version before. Not sure if the new ones will give anymore boost/smoothness.

It's an issue with UE3 and texture streaming. Most UE3 games have problems with textures loading slowly. Give it a week or so (maybe less) and people will have managed to screw around with the ini files enough to figure it out.

how come the Premiere Club is listed as a separate game under my Steam account?...I have 2 listings, one for Borderlands 2 and one for Borderlands 2: Premiere Club

for what it's worth, the game is performing nicely @ 5760x1080 on my 670s @ stock... IQ settings mostly maxed out with physX on low currently.. vid mem use was under 1GB each but the gpus were busy... loading in the mid 60s.. I have a very well ventilated case and a vornado pushing cool air to the PC also.. I'll try PhysX on high later.. just ran with mostly defaults for the new mins I played this am.

gah.. I wish I was home playing.

i think my one complaint so far is I don't like the way the inventory/map/etc menu is displayed. that weird angle looks funny and it looks really bad, just the quality of it. It is like it is fuzzy or blurry.

the original game did this from time to time as well. I'm still seeing random pop-in of world objects in #2 just like in #1

Game is pretty fun, Looks like they made everything "pc friendly" this time around.

Got it free with my gtx 670 and I am able to max all video options out with 80-120fps. The game looks fantastic.

I love it!

Did you order your 6 series within the last month? I got mine about 4 weeks ago. Also what brand did you get? I got the Evga FTW one off newegg.

edit:
According to their website they are still advertising a free borderlands 2 with purchase of a 6 series card.
http://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntt=gtx+670

I would call them up and see if you can get one. I assume you still have your purchase receipt?

Although, you might have to go through the manufacturer to get it.

Went into Microcenter when I was picking up everything for my new build, got the EVGA 670 (not FTW, just the regular one). Have another thread started down in the General Gaming section. Basically they won't pick up the phone to talk to me.

What chars you guys playing as?

I played Brick in the last game and a friend I'm playing with this game already shotgunned Zero. Not sure which to choose...

I'm using the Commando. I played a Solider in the first game and was leveling up a Siren when I stopped playing.

I started as Zero for my first character. Would like to try Siren and Commando in the future.

I started with a Commando last night. Only thing I'm not a fan of about the class early on is that the cooldown on the turret feels too long. Granted, the turret is pretty powerful, so it is semi-understandable. My complaint is more of a "feel" issue. The Commando is supposed to be all about the turret, and it just seems like you can only use it about half as much as you would want to. I felt like I was saving my turret for when I needed it rather than using it as a main function of my class.

I played a bit last night... was using hacked phsyx drivers as my main is 6950 with a 450 for physx.

Setting physx on high works, but in address with a lot of fluid dynamic, the screen stutters a bit during fast movement. This is purely unscientific, as I'm reporting what I see, not with hard facts because I didn't have a fps counter on.

I'll experiment with overclocking before giving my final verdict. Personally, I prefer the physx, the little touches adds up.

Should open up as you level no? I haven't looked into the classes at all, but I imagine it's like anything. You can't start off all powerful at level 1. Wouldn't make sense, gotta build up to it, that's what leveling is for.

Zero. A lot about the game feels the same, although much easier (I play SP). The first boss fight was a snooze. I hate the UI and some of the other time wasting changes, ie: crate box animations. I mean it is cute the first couple of times, but wasting 2 seconds waiting every time will get old, fast.

You had to wait for loot chests to open in BL1, as well. Usually they took a second or two...not that big of a deal. Kinda made it a more dramatic reveal, actually.

Post more about this game, dammit! I need to live vicariously through you guys while I'm at work! :D

went with siren to start, I found the soldier class (support gunner?) in BL1 to be just WAY to easy to play with regenerating ammo and what not with the class mods + the turret that became a pretty indestructible decoy when placed making come fights just TOO easy.

No ammo regen skills this time around. There is a health regen skill, but it's a bit down the tree. It doesn't heal a ton apparently and it doesn't stack either so it looks like they balanced that stuff a bit.

I'm a little confused on the UI as well. Might just need more time with it. But at first I was like "how the hell do I change out weapons from my inventory?"

It might look cool, but I question it's functionality at the moment. I would prefer function over cosmetics.

The other UI problem is that when they went into "fixing" the UI to actually work with scrolling and the mouse, it actually made some of it harder to use. Trying to sell weapons using the mouse is a bigger pain in the ass than the keyboard, because the selected gun wants to jump around, and sometimes you won't see the stats on the thing you are selling.

I don't know why they couldn't add a simply button to the quest UI for completing the quest. I feel like I am just off clicking all over hell until the quest actually turns in.

Thought I seen someone else had mentioned this, but the decapitation / dismemberment seems to be bugged or something. I’ve killed bandits with a point blank headshot with a shotgun, and while their head even appears to explode in a shower of blood and gibs, their head is still there afterwards. I’ve seen similar posts on the Gearbox forums as well. Some have suggested that it's only supposed to happen now if you're a high enough level over the enemies or a damaging enough attack, but I've even had bandits with a sliver of health left a massive point blank shotgun blast still has the same effect.

Anyone else (on a 580) keep having the game just randomly stop working? I'll be playing fine, then I get alt tabbed out of the game (it freezes up, then alt tabs out) and the game just "stops responding" and I have to ctrl alt del out.
