Finally getting around to playing Skyrim, somehow I never played it before. Modlist is coming together, keeping it true to original and avoiding all the plastic, as hard as it is :p Some really cool things you can do, my favorite is pre-caching grass for the entire world in advance so you can have infinite grass draw distance. Sounds like some kind of a wet dream, but it really works and it doesn't even have too much of a consequence outside of just raw FPS drop, the entire meddling with LODs only costs around 25% total if you use efficient grass mod.

Trying to get completely absorbed into this, def gonna be putting some hours into it. Just picked it up after the recent steam sale. I have to say though the controls for this game are just.... After 20 hours I'm still tweaking them but it's starting to feel pretty comfortable to play now. I have to run my backup mouse (Roccat Kone Aimo) with the dpi set to 800 and the ingame settings down to nothing as well. It's good for a couple extra buttons over my MX518 also which helps as well. Typical terrible R* controls.

I got about another fifty pages or so of mods to look through on Nexus yet! (y)

I'm really diggin' this game here tremendously. I like it a lot, and that's saying something because I generally don't think to much of Rockstars' games. I hated what they did with MP3. I stopped playing it after a couple hours or so. I hate games with constant cutscenes that break up the action but I don't even mind it here. The open world helps address that a bit, I think.

Vanilla, I'd say is kinda weird but with some QOL mods and other stuff this is right up there for me, even though there's still a few things that annoy the hell out of me (controls mainly). I don't know why they went with the hold buttons thing, and the slow menus thing. Even the launching and loading of the game is tiresome, luckily someone made a mod to load directly into story mode, which is nice because everything seems so slow otherwise.

But the world though is so well done, I can't stop going into photomode like constatntly and capturing scenes. It's almost addictive. I'm a huge fan of all the old classic western movies (I've pretty much seen them all ha!) so this feels right at home. It's nice to be able to relax and enjoy something with a slower pace for a change.

A buddy at work said (after monitor upgrade) that he thinks HDR is a bigger overall uplift than ray-traced lighting.

And since this is the SHRPCSST:

The weirdness of Duviri (Envy spiral, the overall lighting/damage type of enemies/map locations and missions/other stuff I'm forgetting changes through 5 moods)

^Anyone spot the fisherman in this shot? Behind the island towards the tip there is a guy on a boat fishing! I never even knew that was there until the other day when I was looking it over . At first when I noticed it I thought it was a bird or something, upon further inspection...holy shit! Really shows off the tremendous sense of scale.

I'd like to point out if anyone doesn't know, (or if anyone even cares lol) none of these shots are cutscenes or even from the cinematic trailcam you can engage while traveling on horseback. The only screenshot that is a cutscene is the 5th pic down from post #1660, just with the black bars removal mod. All others are done through photomode, but really more so the Cinematic Camera Mod. I think this mod is more meant for making videos but I just use it as a better version of the built in photomode. I find it a little faster to use and gives much more control. You can freecam out to the clouds (and above) if you want and you can zoom in a little further with its 125mm lens vs.the 75mm of the regular one. Also the game still runs in real-time while in use, so when you find an interesting location you can save that position and wait for some activity to come on screen, then freeze the whole frame with the regular photomode. When you freecam out really far the whole map kinda takes on a flight simulator-like type of appearance. Looks damn near like satellite imagery!

By the way the building with the red marker on it is the same red building in this pic below :). Also the island in the above image is where the fisherman on the boat is seen in the other screenshot. The quality of these images has suffered dramatically due to the upload here, so that one might be hard to see. Much clearer on my local screen caps. Ingame settings are maxxed @ native 4k though with increased LoD mod as well.

I think RDR2 has some of the greatest atmosphere I've ever witnessed in a game. Atleast I can't think of any other games that I've played recently that even comes close to it. This is the definition of 'this game just oozes atmosphere' right here! It's thick, like swamp fog thick. Granted some of these shots have photomode filters on them (many of them don't), but that's just to add a little more flavor. They arent to far off from the original in-game visuals. Also the weather is phenomenal. There are 21 different weather patterns that can trigger, Everything from full on blizzards, several snow patterns as well as hail and sleet, several rain patterns including thunderstorms and hurricane weather, (which are amazing) and foggy/cloudy/overcast systems that can move in. And again I'd have say these weather effects are some of the best I've ever seen. Add in the day and night cycle and the various environments and you can get some truly unique settings going on. With Cinematic Camera mod you can even make it snow where it isn't supposed to and it doesn't even seem stupid, as well as change the ToD on the fly. Apparently there was an actual blizzard in 1899 (when this game takes place) that had parts of Louisiana seeing single digit temperatures, so why not eh?

^Decko, yeah just make sure you have it on in windows first, then the options will show up in the graphics section. It works well and you wouldn't think so in a game like this, but it really makes a difference. If you plan on taking screenshots you'll need to run in borderless window mode because in fullscreen they turn out super faded and washed out for some reason. Also you loose ~10 fps or so in borderless for some reason, but you're all good with your xtx.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it true that with forum update you can't really post high res images, because it automatically downscales them?

yeah the images here get suffer pretty dramatically when uploaded. Both size and quality, but I mean it's convenient. Plus everything is jpeg to begin with.

In Steam you can change its screenshot function to save an uncompressed PNG copy along with the JPG.

I started to play The Frozen Wilds exp because I didn't play it last winter when I started my new game++ run. Plus I need something to christen in my new ultrawide monitor, so this will do :). Very nice monitor btw (LG 34GN850B). All these shots are from last winter though, I was just looking through them again and thought they turned out nice.
