The Elder Scrolls Online

edit - character names work actually for adding friends, didn't read it all, mine is still Asterion Orion.

Also anyone else going Hybrid out there?

Playing as a Redguard Sorc/two handed melee,it's a bit hard at first with the lack of survivability early on (compared to templars, etc) but once you get a bar full of hte skills you can use together well I am starting to like it more and more.

It's a CC machine, both the Sorc skill line and two hander have great CC abilities to keep things locked down (Crit charge>Immobilze, Uppercut, Encase, etc). Can't wait to try it in pvp.

Going for a build like this:

With your system specs why would you even need to set it to low shadows? lol.

I'm on a similar machine (2600k , 780, 8gb ram, ssd) and I run with high shadows just fine.

I've been playing with everything maxed at 1440p, and I haven't really had any issues with frame rate. The lone exception to this was when I was capturing a castle and had a room filled with fire aoe on the floor. Once one or two of the spells went away, it was just fine again. Granted, I don't actually know what my actual FPS numbers have been, but it's been smooth enough for me not to care really.

Martial Lightborn would be me. Rerolled a couple times because I'm a dumbass and forgot I could be imperial the first time and second I chose the wrong covenant. Stupid covenants.

Also no newer drivers aside from the 335.23 WHQL ones, not even any new "beta" drivers yet.

I'd say it shouldn't be too long for a new nvidia TES:O driver.

I get around high 40's/50's usually with everything on high @ 1080.

Of course you might be running a higher resolution/AA or need to hit 60fps+ for you which could be making it not acceptable for your fps.

I want those drivers...Along with true Full Screen. It's incredible how good the game looks and runs on a single card at 7890x1440, though. I get a very stable 40fps and it plays perfectly smooth.

There's a post in the NVidia forums that states they hope to release a driver by Friday.

I'm getting 40 fps in the bigger cities and 80 fps (monitor is overclocked to 80hz) in dungeons. I thought 40 fps was bad in 1440p with my 780 ti? But you have a 3 way SLI with 780's and you're getting the same FPS?

*confused eyes*

SLI isn't being used so it's just a single 780 driving 3x1440 screens.

I'm getting a steady 50+ at 1400p on my 680gtx with all settings at ultra or high.

What kind of CPU and how much ram do you have? Or would that make a difference?

edit - I wonder if max view is killing me. What's yours set at? I think mine was set to 63 but I'll need to check later tonight.

CPU makes a huge difference when there are lots of objects on the screen...like in Cyrodill or with draw distance at 100.

Me running at 40 means I have AA off, Shadows to Medium, and Water Reflection to Low. (everything else is set to On, High, or Ultra) There have been a couple scenes where I've seen a drop to 26 or so, but that only lasted half a second and was more like a stutter. I've been playing pretty much non-stop since the servers came up on Sunday and that's only happened 4 or 5 times.

EDIT: Oh ya...my draw distance is the first thing I take care of on a fresh install. Gotta get them chests and mats...haha.

So how is ESO since beta. felt kinda mehhh round 1 beta. Plenty of content and hows the crafting?

Turned off vsync and I'm getting no screen tears now and the lowest I've seen it dip is 78 fps. I'm averaging around 90-100.... which is weird since my monitor is oced to 80hz, not 100hz.

I'm loving the game. (I did in the few beta weekends as well, tho)

The biggest potential issue I see is that new players don't receive much help with choosing skills. You can get through the first 10 levels by choosing pretty much anything but after that you can become pretty crippled if you don't have 2 or 3 skills that synergize. If someone started putting points in lots of different weapons or passives they might struggle. One of my coworkers sent an email that said something like "I'm finding out this isn't a solo game at all...". I assume he did something odd with his build.

Do they not have respecs? Part of the magic of gaming is figuring out what combinations of moves you like using together to be effective. This is lost when they pigeonhole you into set movse like WoW did.

Yes they have respec:
http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/21x391/skill_reset_shrine_locations/

It can really add up though, 100g per skill.

Servers just went down for 3-4 hours to prepare for the retail launch.

I have been enjoying the game, did some PVP finally, the Dominion were attacking an Ebonheart Keep and while everyone was fighting at the bridge going to it I jumped off the bridge, went into hiding and flanked around back to where they had siege engines setup and took out a guy and burnt his siege engine, then about the time the rest of the pact pushed through.

Then a short while later I was just out exploring Cyrodiil and came across what looked like one Dominion guy fighting a Daggerfall Covenant member who was almost dead so I charged in on the Dominion guy (since it'd be a surprise and he had the most health I wanted to focus him down).

As soon as I attacked though I had a Dominion nightblade pop up behind me and promptly destroy me.

I am really getting the hang of my build now, going for a melee sorcerer, focusing mainly on two handed weapons with CC from the sorcerer tree and crit surge (for healing), great at locking down someone and being able to chase (with crit charge, which is a 100% guaranteed crit and I have it morphed to immobilze people when I do it so they can't escape).

I ended up joining my first guild which intends to be a werewolf focused guild with most of us trying to figure out where/how to get lycanthropy.

There are respecs available once you're further along...level 20ish.

It's not at all a huge problem. I just think it's something that's going to slow less informed gamers' progression.

I hope they don't lose subscribers because of frustration.

What is the cost per-month going to be for this game, was about to buy it and saw information about it being Pay2Play yet I cannot find anything beyond that since a majority of their site is under maintenance.

It's the standard $15 a month.

Odds are this will be f2p in 6-12 months. Game looks fun but not sure it's worth $15 a month. How long they are able to sustain a large player base will determine how soon or even if they go f2p.

Nice hope that is the case, will defiantly hop on then, have always enjoyed the Elder Scrolls series but don't enjoy monthly fees to play a game.

I dont really see how you can screw up your build im a rest staff cloth wearing templar with one attck ability on my tool bar rest are heals and have no issues taking on 3 mobs 2-3 levels higher then me. Lvl 19 right now.

I was on last night as our faction took the Emperor crown, that was pretty fun. You have to conquer all six keeps around the capital city to gain it, meaning you need to fend off attacks from both other factions.

We coordinated on voice chat and had multiple raid groups at different places. At the end we blitzed from two different keeps, converged on the last one remaining and took it only a minute or two before we lost another one. Too late for them, we won it, and you keep it until you lose all your keeps. Good stuff.

Well my brother bought it and we played it together last night and today and it hasn't changed my mind at all.

I really wish it had more "color". I hate the brown on brown on brown scheme that fills 90 percent of the game. Gameplay is not very engaging , doesn't feel like a very deep combat system.

I have no idea how the end game is but I barely felt the will to go through it long enough to find out. I still can't believe its $15 , it feels like it should have no sub at all. I think not having a sub would have given it a greater chance.

Overall Its a pass for me. I wish the original ES developers worked on it as well , It would have turned out better.
