Good luck with that.
Judging from past occurances, the man is most likely right. But goodluck thinking otherwise

Still waiting on that explanation of what is "sandbox" about ESO goldentiger, cuz everything I see says it isn't.
And yeah its gonna flop. They probably know its gonna flop too. Just planning on getting those 2-6mil box sales then running the servers on the absolute minimum resources possible till everyone quits 3-6mo in.
The terms are pretty well understood by now. Sandbox is open content without an assumed path through it, themepark is a defined path through content. EVE, UO, SWG are sandbox. WoW, TOR and now ESO are themepark. Sandbox games are generally skillpoint based, while themeparks use levels to help guide you through the park in the correct order. Themeparks that reach their end turn to sandbox-style content until the next park opens in an expansion.
TES games are all sandbox. Once you break out of prison (I think they ALL start like that), the world is your oyster. That's one of the reasons people are looking at ESO funny - they expect the same style from it. People want a coop sandbox game, they want to play Skyrim With Friends.
It's been a while, but from what I remember, off the boat you could pretty much go wherever. You could dive into the main quest in Balmora, explore the coastline, check out dungeons along the way, or catch a bug-ride to the other side of the continent. TES games all have an avoidable main quest line, which is part of what makes them really a sandbox. You aren't forced to do it.
With 2006 graphics and animations. This screams FLOP, F2P in 6 months.
Hilarious since ESO is one of the best looking games I have ever seen on my always high end machine, and no, I don't mean just for an mmo.
Really?
This statement seems more hilarious to me
Sandbox stuff as I said includes 50++ alliance content which is far larger than your 1 to 50 stuff, and Cyrodiil which they have advertised, which both even fit what people are asking for as far as non leveled content. Now please kindly return to your trolling chaining childish insults together or whatever else you people like to do.
For those not in the know, upon reaching level 50 and completing the main story in ESO, you will gain access to a scaled up version of the next alliance’s zones, allowing you to progress through them at an upscaled difficulty and being rewarded with high level rewards. Upon completely finishing that alliance’s zones, you’ll gain access to the third alliance’s zones and do the same thing, only at an even higher difficulty and with rewards being some of the best gear in the game. The developers have been referring to these two alliances at 50+ and 50++, in reference to the increasing difficulties of the areas.
These areas have already been developed and tested, the technology for scaling enemy difficulty and loot rewards already exists (or at least it will by launch), and it would not require any additional development time to allow players to use this feature to up-level their own alliance’s content. This freedom would go a long way towards letting players put off content until later, even if “later” is restricted to level cap exclusively.
I know you're trying really hard here, and even trying the "shut up trolls" argument, but you're still wrong.
"50++ alliance content" is the same content from other factions but leveled. Its still just questing. Whether you can do them out of order or not doesn't make it "sandbox", its "theme park" as others have mentioned.
Cyrodiil on the other hand is standard RvR gameplay popularized by DAoC, WAR, and (while D.O.A.) in TOR. Its PvP and while can be incredibly fun (DAoC especially), it still isn't "sandbox".
You need to stop "chaining" random features of the game together along with the word "sandbox" like it suddenly changes the definition.
You're a fool, in one breath you whine about set paths and the next when presented with something that doesn't have one whine anyway (50++ content) . And Cyrodiil is indeed sandbox, just as rvr is always referred to as. It's essentially a refined daoc setup which has always been called some of the best sandbox pvp ever in an mmorpg. So, please kindly stop acting dumb on purpose to try to defend an absurd position. If you can't hold a level discussion don't spew nonsense, just bow out.
ESO looks better than most games. Especially in the MMO genre.
Says the person who is resorting to insults, how about addressing what he said?
I did address what he said in detail directly, and I only insulted after he and Pringle started calling my comments things such as "shit from his ass". Talk about your double standard. I wasn't talking to them with that silliness until they had, as it's clearly all they understand.
Keep using your winky smiley faces to try and form some type of rational thought![]()

Back on topic, this game looks/sounds/feels like a major money grab
What I would like to see in the next Elder Scrolls game:
Mod support
CO-OP that scales the monster levels to the party size.
CO-OP mod support so if my buddies and I are running the same mods, the objects are in the same place. It can be 100% P2P; as long as the host makes the scene and it is the same for everyone.
I used to like to stream Skyrim from time to time for my buddies so that they can see what mods I am running. Our discussions on TeamSpeak are basically, " I wish I could play with you". I don't want to hunt flowers with 1,000 other people in Skyrim. I don't want to share my dragon bones with some dude I invited to the raid to fill a spot. I just want to play in a party with my buddies. Truth.
Maybe they can implement an optional permanent party mode in this MMO where you never see other players unless you turn it off. Something like what SWTOR did except shroud us 100% of the time. That would work also as I don't want to play a MMO, but I would like to play Elder Scrolls Online with my friends.
Now, I'm not saying I don't think that ESO has a lot of Elder Scrolls feel to it in a lot of different ways, but it's definitely not a version of the singleplayer game made co-op and never was designed to be.![]()
The casual/average people that buy the game will expect it to be Multiplayer Skyrim, and they're going to be extremely disappointed.
p.s. game still isn't a sandbox
Cyrodiil indeed is a sandbox, it is the very definition of an mmo sandbox. Thankfully I don't have convincing a cynical troll as my job description.
People expecting a coop single player game when it's advertised as an mmorpg are ignorant, just as someone buying Battlefield for a platformer would be. Sorry, but if you just buy off of a game brand instead of even looking at what genre it is, that's your fault. Sorta like buying a hammer when looking for a screwdriver at a tool shop, because you didn't look at what type of tool it was and grabbed something random from the shelf.
Thanks for the analogy, now we know you're being serious

Yeah, how presumptuous of some of us TES fans when we heard they were making an mmo TES game to expect......TES, totally preposterous of us to assume such a thing, what were we thinking? Completely Inconceivable!
Well I lol'ed

After 20 years of best-selling, award-winning fantasy role-playing games, the Elder Scrolls series goes online. Experience this epic adventure on your own or together with your friends, guild mates, and thousands of alliance members. Explore dangerous caves and dungeons, embark upon adventurous quests across Tamriel, and engage in massive player versus player battles, where the victors reap the spoils of war.
It is very much a TES game, but no, it's not a single-player with co-op mode which you might have learned if you had read the official website that describes it as an MMORPG and massively multiplayer online elder scrolls experience. But hey, this is forum land, why not whine incessantly rather than take one moment to check? How dare I expect someone to have any remote clue of what they're talking about, instead of blurting out random unrelated thoughts? What was I thinking? Completely inconceivable!
In fact, the very first page you click on to find out info about the game (the game guide page) says this at the top:
Stop whining about what you wish was being made, you'll get TES 6 at some point anyway. ESO is a different animal and not a single-player entry in the series, so your misplaced complaints due to your having randomly assumed what a game was by its title are absurdity personified.
Well, glad I could clear that up for you since you clearly didn't realize. It's an mmo? you don't say?
Here I was thinking when it was announced that they might make the game like TES, you know, because it's called "The Elder Scrolls" online.
I guess it was too much to ask for a sandbox world, where you are free to go off in any direction just randomly exploring things and doing this or that.
Where you were free to pick what kind of character you wanted to be, magic, swords, whatever.
Along with combat where magic and arrows went where you aimed and things, not homing to the targets and doing mmo "rotations" of skills.
What's the point of "It opens at the end" of the game?
Shouldn't the point of any game be to you know, have fun doing that THROUGHOUT the game?
I never understood the idea of mmo's where all the fun is at the "end," because many peopel burn out/quit before then, you want to get them having fun RIGHT AWAY and not waiting to the bloody END of the game.
I don't wnat to play a "TES" game after wasting 60 + hours doing something I don't want.
Golden Tiger scares me. Every time I want to post something I write 75% of it out and then decide against it. Maybe your right and the game opens up in the end. How many times has the community been told this though? It isn't TESO's fault people are apprehensive, it is the industries for failing to deliver the MMO's they promised. I don't know of an MMO that launched post WoW other than LOTRO that was actually finished and didn't have huge content gaps, or endgame. If someone does please inform and I will retract that statement.
I do feel the general community is unfairly judging this game based upon past experiences. What I have read around the net about the game though hasn't been positive outside of company pr articles. My personal experience wasn't negative, but it wasn't glowing either. I found it to be an average current generation MMO, yet it requires $60 up front, and $15 a month. Take any MMO in today's market, and that would have to be a STELLAR game to command that kind of fee. If it was free and $15 a month, or $60 and no monthly fee, or f2p I could spend some serious time with it. For me personally an MMO isn't a game you just spend $60 and a monthly fee to walk away. I want to see a finished product with a good idea of where its headed. MMO's are alive and change.
I have the same opinions on Wildstar as well. I have heard some good things about it, but I haven't watched anything on streams to make me swoon. I missed my time in their beta unlike TESO so my opinion is less concrete on that game.
I don't blame you for being skeptical, I too have been burnt on many mmo's. This one is a real deal though
Well, glad I could clear that up for you since you clearly didn't realize. .
Your ill informed random blather has nothing to do with that.
Your ignorance is all that prevents that.
Saved for future laughter
Well, glad I could clear that up for you since you clearly didn't realize.
It is an elder scrolls game but an mmo version. Your ill informed random blather has nothing to do with that.
This game is anything but follow the quest markers actually but you haven't played it past the tutorial clearly.
The skill system is one of the most open in an mmorpg ever.
That includes mixing any abilities you fancy, bar a few class specific ones.
Eso has no ideal skill rotations, not sure what game you're even ranting about now.
It is fun throughout, and you can go into the sandbox stuff early like Cyrodiil and general freeform pve roaming.
As with most games the more you play the better it gets, ,mmo or not.
Your ignorance is all that prevents that.
