The Division 2

I wish I was smart enough to find at least one hidden thing in this game. Here's a hidden boss from Manning National Zoo. To be fair no one found it until the devs hinted at it today on SoTG.

Ah finally the new drivers have been released and the issue is considered resolved:

It's not. I tried the new drivers and I still crashed. However I did not try your suggestion of deleting the ShaderCache folder. I will attempt that. But I will not hold my breath.

NICE! And I've never seen that emote before. I need that. I need that for when SereLaw tells me we need to go this way, and we proceed to run 2 klicks in the wrong direction.

Today's State of the Game:

  • Unofficial, but mostly official, release date Oct. 15th
  • Expedition Masteries
    • Expeditions will re-release with difficultly levels, modifiers and challenges.
    • They will all release at the same time, not staggered like before
  • White Oak and the Zoo will get Invaded versions
    • Natianal Zoo gets upgraded to a Steonghold with 3 more Bosses
    • White Oak means Black Tusk will invade Black Tusk with a story explanation for such shenanigans.
  • Shepard system revamp
    • Vanity item reward, likely a Backpack Trophy
  • Unique Items
    • Guaranteed drop for completing Tidal Basin for 1st time, completing your 1st Heroic mission, certain DZ activities, and extremely low chance of dropping from any enemy (increases with difficulty)
  • Next week's SotG will focus on Episode 2 and all its content

Sounds like the Expedition Modifiers will guve us a reason to put together a Build with as much Hazard Protection as we can muster. Might be interesting, might be utterly annoying. We'll see.

Sometimes i think they focus too much on the secret stuff but do leave enough clues on how to find them. Unless the come out right and hint at it there isn't enough story behind things to follow or get clued in on. I haven't played Div2 in like 3 months now.....granted its hard when your 10 month old is sleeping in your office every night.

On Reddit there was a small moment of happiness until the reports are of it seemingly to be crashy, but I have not ran into this......yet. I did have the DX12 cache folder without any files and the new driver before setting to DX12. I did not delete the shader cache via Disk Cleanup. I tend not to be crashy, so dunno. If i did it was crash to desktop (which was the very common symptom), never the timeout recovery reports that others were saying on Reddit. That makes me think something else about their reports.

I had a crash to desktop last night, I logged straight back in and could play again, but I did not play long anymore. I did install the new driver now, will see how it goes.

Still no good for me with DX12. I deleted my ShaderCache folder contents, tried to run it again in DX12 but crashed after about 10 minutes. I like how Nvidia stated in their driver notes that this issue was resolved, yet it's still crashing for most folks.

Only thing that doesn't appeal to me about the patch are the Expeditions. Even with this Mastery system what reason is there to re-run those missions? So I can get a gold star for doing the mission in 35 minutes instead of 40? They were fun to do once for extra content, but nothing they showed makes me want to play them again. They need Survival to be re-born in DC. Or even Underground with random mission layouts.

Hey Frraksurred you ever get around to trying out the raid?

Not yet. I would like too. Covering 3rd shift and doing 80hr weeks at the moment, so haven't really had time to organize a group. I would definitely like too, and will have the weekend after next off (12&13th) if you're interested in planning something. Only interested in getting the Eagle Bearer, probably never play it again after that, but the gun is too good to ignore

I've been playing for over 3 hours and still no crashing. Multi-task, alt-tabbed, went all over map, and even loaded monitoring apps to see any particular anything. All I found out for me is, DX 12 actually uses 12GB of system mem...whoa (DX 11 is less). The 1070FE was using around 7.1 GB of VRAM. The only thing that I was not able to do was multiplayer at the time. Got tired of waiting for matchmake, and decided to play some Destiny 2.

This weekend when I play with my mates across the pond I will find out if it does crash, and hear from them too.

Hey Frraksurred my buddies and I (we usually run 3 or 4 man - Dogfish, Cuttlefish and NeofiteXL) wanted to hit up the RAID if you and Sere (and we can grab 2 more) want to give it a shot sometime.

We're on EST.

I'm also willing to do the raid if I can manage the time (beeing in Europe and all)

Absolutely! I'm CST, but will gladly play whenever the majority can get together.

So I ran the Raid in Discovery mode about 3 times today. Match made with randoms, which worked so long as at least half of them had some idea what they were doing. There is no matchmaking for normal mode, so haven't tried that yet. If and when we try it, we will definitely want to be on Discord or something. Communication and having a plan are key.

Also finished the Apparel Event and got my old school Space Suit. Starting next week they are going to increase the rate at which Keys drop with Efficiency Caches and extend the Event by another week since people have been having problems getting keys to drop (can confirm).

Level 30 Clan Vendor has a Holster with 45% Skill Haste this week. Nice, nice, nice. Not much besides that unfortunately. Haven't checked Cassie yet though.

I finally crafted each of the Hard Wired pieces, which was a pain because inventory only holds 30 of the D&H materials needed to Craft each one (requires 10 a pc). So I ran the Occupied DZ for a bit to round up some more. The ODZ was dead, it was great! I rarely saw anyone, and even when I did no one was interested in PvP thankfully. Anyway, Hard Wired looks to be the best Skill build set going into TU6. I'm thinking of a 4pc with the BTSH gloves and an Alps BP. We'll see. There are so many buffs coming in this patch, my Stash and Inventory are both full with potentials. I'll probably spend the first couple hours of TU6 just sorting through gear.

Whipped up a tanky LMG build for the Raid; Unbreakable on the Vest and Patience on the KP's. So far works pretty well. Also made a Healer variation of my Skill build that may be fun to play around with; need to test it out in Discovery mode though.

Wasn't the Pentagon expansion suppose to be out by now? Bought the season pass but haven't been able to keep up cause of work. And I just did the mission looking for President Elias. Feels a little stale to me fellas.

Oct. 15th. Along with a ton of changes. We're all kind of waiting for this patch.

I'm very curious to see how much the game improves with this next patch & how accurate of layout the Pentagon is.

Being that I've been deep into Elite Dangerous & starting to get back into Destiny 2, Massive really needs an explosion of content to have me focused on TD2.

Today's SotG:

Lots of TU6 details
  • 2 new Main Missions: they tie in together
    • Pentagon (part 1)
    • Darpa Facility (part 2)
  • New Specialization: The Technician
    • 6 Rocket P-017 Launcher
    • Can tag 6 enemies or unload all 6 on 1. Designed as a room clearer, not to one shot Bosses / Heavies
  • Articifer Hive
    • Buffs & repairs yours and teams deployed Skills
  • 2 new Classified Assignments (for pass owners)
    • Marina
    • Embassy
  • New Exotic Weapon & Gear Piece
  • All wings of Kenly Collage will open back up with a new Mastery System + Modifiers
  • More Stash space (300) & more Crafting Material space
  • Several UI quality of life improvements
  • Full DZ Servers prioritized
  • Rogue Vendor now supposed to be worth a hoot (sells named items & Brand sets)
  • New Conflict map: The Wharf
  • Free Weekend starting the 17th
  • Next Raid will come later, they want to get it 'just right'
Or you can just gander at this screen grab that more or less explains everything:

Lastly, a new Trailer:

--

On a separate note, I finished leveling a second character and started working on a 3rd. I've done the Raid a few times now and am starting to get the hang of it. The Keys and unique Gear only drop once a week, per character... so having all 4 would improve my odds of getting a Eagle Bearer and maybe a full set of Aces & Eights and Tip of the Spear. There is another Raid set called The Negotiator, but as of right now it seems to be a dud. Anyway, looking forward to running the Raid with some of you this coming weekend.

Just a note for those of you looking to run the Raid this weekend. In order to run it in Normal mode, you have to have run it in Discovery mode at least once. I believe you also need a Gear Score of 485 or higher.

Discovery mode allows you to Match make, so it is fairly easy to jump into. Normal mode will have a Session Leader that you will need to be friends with on Uplay (can be dealt with at the time). We can use my Discord if you like, or we can use one of the 'Official Division' Raid Channels (click Server Discovery on the left pane, then type "The Division" into the search box. Join the server, and you will get a 10 min timer before you can join a channel).

I got the current cosmetic stuff done, so now I'm ready for the next patch :p

How's that space suit fitting? I really wish they would have given us the giant fish bowl helmet instead of that leather dishrag of a skull cap. Ah well, it was one of the better Apparel Events either way.

Anyone have open slots on a clan that's active at around 5AM - 10AM PST? Although since I'm in Asia, this may not be applicable.

Our Clan is barely active at the moment, but I know a guy in your same time zone. The Clan he is currently in is primarily a Raid Clan, but it sounds like they do other things also. I will get their name and PM you the details, might take me a couple days though.

So you're definitely going to want to check out the Clan Vendor. Level 30 Clans now get ONLY GS500 items, plus Gear Set & one "Perfect Talent" item. There is a real nice SVD (especially for the SVD / Nemesis Raid build) this week. Plus a 4% Marksman Rifle damage mod to go with. Which leads to the next nice little change: Vendors sell Mods now too.

EDIT: Visit Cassie too, her inventory got some nice upgrades

Hmm in the afternoon I did 2 of the missions required to unlock the stronghold (the zoo) and some random stuff on the map, then in the evening I did the remaining mission, went to the map to select the zoo to travel there, and lo and behold, I need 3 different missions and the stronghold changed to Union square. Not the end of the world but annoying nontheless.

Also had a nagging message on my screen telling me I could choose talents for the dark zones which refused to go away after visitinng the correct npc in the white hose until after a relog.

Patch definatelly needs to fixes imo, but I like some of the changes like the new roll animation if you jump of a ledge, makes it feel much smoother.

Also in case I did not mention it b4 after some crashes I'm back to DX11

I'm disappointed that I can't just jump right into the new specialization. I never tried out the gunner, so has it been that way with that one as well? If so, total BS since I'd rather not do fetch/kill quests multiple times over.

There are many positive changes with this patch, but also some negatives. They did make the requirements to unlock Gunner and Tech Specialists easier, but it is still a gate to try and get people to buy the Season Pass.

The Targeted Loot system is a big step in the right direction, but the loot pool is even bigger now, so it is almost necessary to make your odds doable.

They made a couple small tweaks to the Raid that have really ticked me off. First the TAC-50 does not seem to do as much damage to weak points as before. Second, the Mortar phase that comes right after damage phase on Razerback is stronger & faster, so unless you time your rolls just right (and nothing gets in your way) you get staggered and downed. This resulted in 50% of our team being downed consistently during the Heavies phase and caused up to wipe 12 tries in a row. We had a pretty experienced team over-all, everyone got frustrated and left. I've tried to run the Raid about 20 times since TU6 and have not succeeded once yet.

I think you're glitched Crimson - if you have the season pass, you're supposed to be able to jump right into the new classes. Only non-pass holders have to jump through all the hoops. Pass holders only need to do it for the accomplishments / commendations.

Massive: Working as intended :(

But seriously, I'd send a support ticket to Ubisoft/Massive and try to get it resolved.

I'll try to see how it goes again tonight. If its failure, I'll bug them to look into my account.

Even season pass holders get the message to jump through the hoops but if you click on it at the gunsmith it does unlock and then just lists all the hoops to get the extra stuff. But then if you've actually tried it it could be bugged. I thought mine was at first.

i was going to mention the same thing. i missed the option to use the gunner spec when it first launched, took me a bit to realize i could activate it right away.

Speaking of the classified missions, you're not missing much. Definitely didn't enjoy either of them at all, especially the embassy one where you have to defend the pilot and try to take out the heavy with the flamethrower. A far cry from the enjoyable missions like the NSA one.

I just gave up after the 3rd attempt. I won't be playing the embassy one again. It feels like they're trying to force you to group up. Shelving this game once again.

Back to Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

Now I was on the other end of the spectrum. I enjoyed both Classified missions, but I'm running a fairly stout Skill build to solo Heroic missions with. Some of the mechanics did feel kind of stale (same stuff, different mission), but the locales were cool.

Same with the new Pentagon missions. Enjoyed them both, but there were some difficulty spikes even in Story mode. They like to pinch you between two Bosses in at least one section. Easy to get swarmed if you sit still. Similar s3ction for thefinal Boss, only with Mortars: constant barrage forces you to stay mobile.
