So, I live in the barracks and it tends to be a very dusty place despite constant cleaning and sweeping. I have not blown out my computer in a couple months and I decided that today was the day to clean it out.
Previously: CPU temps idle at about 50-55C and unknown (BSOD) at load, GPU idle at 76C
Clean: CPU temps idle at 38C and GPU idle at 56C
Lesson learned: A clean computer is a happy and cool computer.
I didnt realize a coating of dust could make THAT BIG of a difference. It was getting to the point that my computer was overheating just sitting in the room idle, but I attribute that to Virginia heat and lack of AC. Thought you guys might be interested in this little story...
