    After making some changes on my system right after installing a solid state drive, everything worked great for about a week, then bootups started taking a long time and I kept seeing a lot of hardware interrupt activity. I searched all over the place for a solution, tried what most suggested about changing the Primary IDE settings to PIO then back again and it still stayed stuck.

    Somewhere along the way, I found a link to your post. I should have figured that someone on would know. Sure as shit, your method helped. I haven't been on in years (I was a mod a LONG time ago) and should have started out here first.
