TF2 scout update!

I've never really been into TF2, but playing for one night with the new update almost completely turned me off to it. I'll still play it, but a lot less frequently. The stun is wayy too overpowered, especially when couples with that shotgun double fire thing.

The only time you should be hit by it is when you're turning a corner and its already coming, otherwise its pretty obvious and easy to avoid. And right now atleast usually if you're anything except another scout or a sniper the scout can't kill you anyway because they only have about two shots before you're back.

I really don't understand all the complaining going on about the stun, I think its stupid easy to avoid but I also haven't played against any good scouts that used that bat. I do love running around with the normal scatter gun and destroying scouts because they only have two shots that they usually let go way to fast and don't really even touch you.

Also, its definitly soldier heaven right now with all the scouts running around being so easy to kill, hell most of them don't even zig zag or anything you just shoot ahead of them and they run right into the rockets.

I've seen some good scouts take out heavies and soldiers. Thing is when the heavy is stunned, the scout can run up and start blasting him with his gun and once the stun is over it takes some time to start spinning that mini gun which gives the scout more time to run around and shoot.

The worst is when it stuns ubers. Medic is my 2nd most played class and it's been getting annoying having my ubers become useless thanks to that stun.
 
i played for a couple of hours today and never had an uber interrupted... i think you guys just need to get used to moving around while using it :p
 
I played tonight and a few times in a row I would get stunned by this scout and then killed. I was playing soldier at the time with full (200) hp. He would stun me, get close and blast two force of nature shots and I was down to <40hp.

Yeah, that's balanced.
 
The ball is faster than rockets, the flare gun, anything else. Because of that, at close to medium range, it's the scout's fault if the ball misses. It is not that hard to aim at all, anyone whom is used to arcing a weapon shouldn't have any problems landing 90%+ of the attempts.

How do you manage playing TF2 with all the other things going on in your life?

Personally with a wife, baby and work I'm finding it increasingly hard to game at all without getting in trouble!

My wife has asked me to come up with a plan!! Any suggestions?

Sandman + double jump. Zig zag a little so you're harder to hit when she comes out of stun.

this is ironic that you ask... as my situation is similar (w/o the baby)... you have to set your priorities. gaming obviously needs to be last on that list, so if don't have any free time near the end of the night, then you just have to avoid gaming.

i'll be the first to admit that i struggle with putting the wrong thing first more than i should! just set aside 30-60 minutes before bed if you can get everything else taken care of, or just play on weekends only ;)
 
Got stunned twice as a pyro last night, once from across the map n nothing became of it, once in the action and teh scout killed me. Then got stunned as a medic doing ubers twice again. Then got stunned as a soldier n killed by a scouts bag. Getting reeeally annoying that ubers aren't really ubers anymore, and that a scout can take out all the high-health classes no problem. Lame.
 
I find heavy to be incredibly unbalanced to scout by this. Honestly the scout has the ability to completely control range, has an insanely high amount of fire power close up, and can prevent you from doing anything about it. Stun from decently far away, run up and force of nature you to the face, by the time you wake up from the stun, you are usally dead or seriously wounded. And as a heavy, you can't dodge it. Not if your firing anyways. It's gotten pretty old pretty quick.

i was speaking from the medic's point of view, not the person being ubered. i didn't think about them being stunned. for a medic, it's fairly easy to avoid being stunned.

not being nasty, just sarcastic

and if youre not stunned as a medic, it dont matter because you just sit there waiting for your uber to wear off before the stun does on your ubered target
 
I find the scout very useful now in an offense. my k/d ratio was shit, but my assists were just huge mostly because of the stunball. it's like a 1 2 punch if you have your team there with you.

Thanks, some good advice there. I think the best course of action is to play before bedtime once everything else is taken care of.

Sometimes you just can't win though, even after doing all my chores at the weekend and looking after our son all day I still got in trouble for not spending the evening with my wife watching TV. There is nothing worse than being in the middle of a match and having your wife turn your monitor off! :confused:

haha, well that comes down to the communication between you two :) i try to keep that channel open so we both know what each other's expectations are. if she is really wanting some together time, i need to be willing to put off gaming for the sake of our marriage ;)

however, if there isn't really much going on, then she is completely cool with me gaming for however long! i've tried a dozen times to get her to try it (with the exception of PS3 games like LittleBigPlanet), but there is no budging on her part. at least she is understanding that it is a hobby for me, and she supports it as long as it's not out of control (like my pre-marriage days of WoW! haha)

being married with a job, etc etc puts a whole new spin on things like this!

i havent played this game for very long but the scout stunning people is total bs. Its just like that in GOW2 with the stun nades. Just makes me not want to play it.
 
The Sandman has already been banned in some of the pro leagues. They need to rebalance that weapon. As a soldier or heavy, I should not be fearing scouts. That long stun and then the knockback from that new gun makes it very hard.

The duration of the stun is very inconsistent. Short range stuns sometimes last 2 seconds and others they last long enough for them to run up, shoot you with the FAN, reload, and shoot you twice more before it wears off. Which usually spells death.

I attribute it to the same misguided notions that lead them to make the demoman grenade launcher do 64-128 damage prior to the damage range reduction in a recent patch. They like random. They can't get enough of random in their game.
 
if they just remove the fact it stops ubers ill live with it, but right now it just sucks against scouts who know how to play

one thing I cant stand is to wait 20 seconds to spawn, run for 30 seconds, then get stunned locked and dead by someone with half or a third of my health. LAME.
 
Thats why I play instant respawn servers.

Been playing the game for 4 days, already got 1000 kills for the Hardcore achievement with a sniper :D

Oh Ive been playing the others too! Pretty familiar with everything now, picked up a buuunch of kills with the demoman, scout and spy yesterday. The spy to me is the most fun, the snipers in 2fort never see it coming lol!
 
its fun getting a longrange baseball hit on a heavy that just got ubered. everyone just stands around, uber eventually wears off and many explosions and body parts flying ensues :p
