TF2 scout update!

LOL at people talking ranks in TF2. In a game where you can randomly one shot people, I don't think ranks matter much.

+1 But I would have gone with something about the pyro class being in the game.

TF2 hardly requires much skill to be decent in. It would probably make most of the TF2 user base leave (random pubbers) but I would love to see the pyro class removed to force some people to actually learn how to aim.

i just like pyros for spy checks.

Ehh, they have many uses besides that. Against turrets they are as good as demos when ubered, on defense they can often protect turrets by blowing stickies away. They can seriously slow ubered enemies movement by blowing them and/or their medic around. Harassing snipers with the flair gun. Lot's of uses for the Pyro with a team player using him, and some of those uses do not earn you any points, but do require a bit of skill and smart timing.

+1 good post. I need to play pyro more, 1-because I suck at it and 2-because I want that dang flare gun:)

Got the flare gun after getting a Pyro milestone (10 achievements) but the Flare gun ain't that great, I prefer a shotty. But of course bragging rights are important when winding up mates :D

Tip, CP maps like Fastlane have been great for attaining Pyro achievements. Saigns servers in Germany are superb for anarchic, frenetic games, but of course your pings may be way too high if in the States.

Excect my in game name glitches those scoring systems out so they fuck up my score. I have a K:D ratio of over 150-0 on one server so I must be the best.

If you're playing against static bots in the spawn-room by yourself... doesn't "quite" count...

Unfortunately we only consider it skill if there's an actual human playing, or a bot that's actually a bot...

I don't think you understood when I said my name glitches out the scoring systems.

I do think the game does require skill. Of course there are new players getting kills with classes like the soldier or demoman but mastering those classes is not easy. Being an excellent spy and scout is not easy either.

Agree, just watch the top 10 plays of this week

Every class requires skill to master. Sure, some W+M1 pyro noobs can get kills, but they probably won't really be doing much to help their team until they master the class.

Points mean nothing.

You two retards again need to get off this forum, and get some education. Maybe take some statistics class before you come back.

To "randomly" one shot someone, you still have to aim. Chance to crit isnt random, its for the most part based off a set probability. Skill is a relative comparison to other players. If everyone has same chance for crit, and you kill them more often, you have more skill.

1 point in itself doesn't mean anything significant. Its like making 1 shot at free throw, doesn't really determine your basketball skill. But when you have 500+ hours logged in, and 100,000 points obtained, it becomes very statistically significant. Its like if you measure the height of one white guy, he might not represent the white average height very well. But if you measure 100,000 white guys, then you are probably really close to the actual white average height.

To the idiot who thinks points mean nothing. Lets break it down. If you cap, you get points. If you destroy buildings, you get points, if you kill/assist someone, you get points. All these help your team win the game, and yes, points is everything in the game. If points don't mean anything, what does? Your fat ass?

Not really. All it proves is that you have no life.

I could spend all day on a server. Lets say it's a 24/7 dustbowl or something. Lets say the server restarts every 6 hours. If you've been on for 5 hours and everyone else has been on for 2 hours or less. Obviously you're going to have more points. Does this make you a better player? No. If you think it does, when then I can't help you.

Pugs don't prove shit, but if that makes you feel good, then whatever.

I have to agree, points mean nothing more than you play a lot. I have almost 100,000 point on a server I play on. I don't consider myself great, maybe average, but I've played on that same server off and on for over a year. That's why I have a big score. You could be a very mediocre player but points add up over hundreds of hours played.

I agree that points don't mean shit but KDR means everything to me in this game. I try to maintain higher than a 3.0 KDR in my favorite server. So far I've logged about 60,000 kills and 17,000 deaths. If you have a good KDR throughout a match, you are doing more for your team than someone with a lower KDR but more points. I'd like to exlcude medics from this 3.0 standard and lower their standard to a 1 to 1 KDR ratio because people have to learn evasive healing. Pay attention to your surroundings and avoid as much demo spam and rockets as possible. I'm a good medic and I've seen way too many medics stand around in demo spam or watching a rocket come towards them and not move.

this is probably as good a place as any...

When using the voice chat in TF2, is it broadcast to everyone on the server or just your team? can you alternate between the two?

up to the server config.

Does anyone know which class is due to be updated next if any? I vote for the Engineer or the Demoman.

They haven't said. I can almost guarantee that the Demo will be last, with the penultimate likely being the Soldier. Of the remaining ones to upgrade (Spy, Engi, Sniper), I would personally suspect Sniper, but wouldn't be surprised if it were the spy.

Engi's have maintained usefulness and have received some buffs. The Sniper class has been weakened by the Flare Gun and Baseball upgrades to the other classes.

def gonna be soldier.....

that class seems to be almost completely displaced by the demoman... and vs the (many) scouts you see on servers these days, they usually get their asses kicked...

even a good medic at medium-long range and usually kill a soldier....

1. By points, its implied meaning is "points per time". Nobody is comparing one person's points over an hour vs another person's points over 10 minutes. Way to argue off a lame point.

2. There is a strong correlation between practice and skill with respect to learning anything. So having more play time suggests you are more likely to have more skill. That is until you asymptote.

3. If there is a direct correlation between TF2 play time, and having no life, why are you even playing TF2 at all?

4. http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/ke422azn oh that's right, you are owned in real life stats as well.

Oh Jesus, showing off our bods. What next, measuring penis sizes?

There are alot more people who could post then. People with bigger bodies then yours. And my face is hotter. In the end, this just proves we have no life by doing nothing but 1uping each other.

Why do asian people always get so butt hurt when you make fun of their score in a video game. Maybe you need to get a life outside of Starcraft and TF2

Yup. When someone makes an argument, you need to find real life evidence to determine whether he is truly knowledgeable, or if he is an idiot obeying the dunning-krueger effect. In this case, a person with poor TF2 and real life skills talking about TF2 and real life. Would you read a diet book written by a 400 pound person? I wouldnt.

Why do asian people always excel at everything they do like getting good degrees, have the highest median salary, and even win the most gold medals in the Olympics? How do they manage this and still be good at video games?

I would have to say either natural selection, or we were all given an Asian Brian Tracy CD when we turn 5.

Do Asians suffer from depression as much as other people?

If there was a general correlation that they don't, we could figure out the environmental factors that lead to a happier life.

I agree with brucedeluxe169 that the Soldier needs some love with an update
I'm dreading the Spy update. Having more than half the teams be Spies is going to be lame as balls in your face.

I was thinking it would be the perfect time to get some pyro unlocks if you don't have them.

working on my backburner, I'm loving the flare gun! the guy 200 feet away ain't worried bout a pyro, till you launch an unexpected flare at him and catch him on fire. :)

amen, what else could they add to the spy class that wouldn't make it too powerful.

BTW those hating on soldiers, find a medic with a kritzuber, shazaam you can cause some havoc.
