Terraria

It really is a fun game. I think it would be cool to start a new world, set up an initial common house sort of thing as a sort of "HQ" thing, then let people join with that in place. That way everyone could focus a bit more on exploring and building other things.

I played minecraft for a little bit and although I thought the game had potential, I couldnt get into it. I realise MC isnt a final version but Terraria has pulled me in already! It's addictive for sure and being a gamer that grew up with 8-bit platformers from the mid 80's to early 90's, it definitely tugs at the ol' nostalgia strings. It has a charm to the atmosphere.

Lookin forward to messin around in the world with a few friends :)

So far I still like Minecraft better (feels more creative/open with 3D rather than 2D sidescroller IMO), but this game is definitely worlds ahead in terms of adventuring and actual structured gameplay (boss fights, NPCs, special items, etc). It's like Minecraft + Zelda IMO.

I just may have to buy this...

Edit

NVM i couldnt wait

Probably should. :D

I bought 8 of them. I've got four+server running in my house, and gave four to my friends. I'm completely ignoring Brink and The Witcher 2 now for it, and have slowed my other hobbies to a crawl. (all since two days ago) :D (the hobbies thing is projected, as not enough time has lapsed yet)

shitcomputer??

nope ^_^
it is up to date in matter of software (hardware may be considered ancient). but when i try to start the game, it just instantly crashes. seems like quite a lot of people are having those problems though.

G'damn. Seems most people are able to run multiple instances of the game on Steam (for purposes of running a server), but I can't seem to launch more than one instance. I fire up the game though Steam, start a server, attempt to launch a second instance and .... nothing. Split second of loading wheel, then nadda. Any suggestions as to why? I've disabled my ESET Security and a few other background processes, but nothing seems to help.

LOL! Yes! I cant stop..

Wow they capitalized very well on this. Good for them! I might buy this to play with the gf and friends.

I've got this all over the house now. :D Started training my daughter, (and think I've talked my wife into playing, who to this point will only play Super Mario World with me.)

Well done sir. My hat is off to you lol.

:D

My brother and I played this until around 1:00am last night (which in itself isn't bad until you factor in being up until 2:30 the night before.) We've got a huge network of tunnels, with houses at various points. Each one has a bed, so you can set it as your spawn point depending on where you're trying to get to.

I'm hoping to get some more going on tonight. I'd like to build a small city underground.

Played last night until 2am with 3 of my friends. I am running a server if anyone wants to join and will have a 24/7 server up shortly with a static IP.

So in the past two days I put 21+ hours into the game. That says a lot about how fun it is. It's hard at first because you keep dying over and over and over again. I've since explored quite a bit, gotten my hit points to 320 (400 is max), maxed out my mana, and crafted the highest tier armor. I also made a grappling hook so I can be like Bionic Commando. Now, I'm trying to kill a boss. This game is seriously fun in a whimsical kind of way.

Saw this on Reddit today. Apparently, if you give his game a bad review on youtube, the developer will claim copyright on your video and have it taken down. What's sad is that the review is just a joke to get people to get mad about it (a la Sony Defense Force). The same group did the same thing to Minecraft and notch had a good sense of humor about it, where the Terraria developer is very thin-skinned.

I think one thing about this game is that it's being sold on Steam as what appears to be a completed game, when in reality it only started development in January of this year...definitely still in an alpha/beta stage, much like Minecraft.

Not that this game isn't totally worth $10, but I feel like it should have said "beta" somewhere on there.

Which is funny, because it feels more finished to me than I imagine Minecraft ever will be.

please pm me for our server info. I have 3-4 other friends playing there and its up all the time.

I'd appreciate an invite also if anyone has a spare slot :D

This game is crack

The server seems to be down. It was acting really strange last night too, like the world was sped up like 1000%. Day/night cycles only took like 20 seconds, compared to the 10 minutes that it usually takes. I think the server is on the fritz.

I don't think the guy that runs the hardforum server has a dedicated server up.

I've been thinking of opening my server up to [H] members. Send me a PM for an invite and please only invite yourselves!

Edit: Scratch that, just got a PM from relapse saying he is reopening his. If his has to much demand i'll consider opening mine.

My server went down for a day for maintenance. It will be back up tonight. To all who have PM'd me I will give you the info tonight around 7pm pacific.

Are you implying that it should take a good system to run a game whose graphics are shitty by the standards of 16 bit sidescrollers from 20 years ago?

If you dont like it, go play LA Noire on your console or something. No need to troll those enjoying it.

I'd like to give multiplayer a shot :)

I found a file that enable custom resolutions for those who want widescreen or just want to see more..

WUT! WHAT WATTT

Please share :)

I tried this and actually prefer the lower res because at higher res it becomes more difficult for me to navigate my inventory. I don't mind the low res TBH since Terraria is like what? 8 bit anyway? Let's get this hardforum server up since I have crafted stuff taking up inventory space.

Can you tell me how to do it I want to see what it looks like, spanks
