"Fixed" is a dirty word in the mobo business and is seldom used. Let's just say the "Premium" board is supposed to be everything we thought the "Deluxe" version was supposed to be. Officially Asus is saying little more than the Deluxe uses a daughtercard that bridges the SLI slots, while the Premium uses a chip. Other than that, the features are identical. Anecdotal reports on the web say this board is very promising.

That's what those rats said 6 months ago :(

Those dust-proof acoustifans look pretty slick but wow are they expensive.

Anyone else notice that whenever Aqua Computer designs a blanking plate to cover a drive bay, it always leaves an excessive amount of gap on the horizontal edges? I've noticed this on the Aquastream controller, the Aquaero, and the Aquabay. What could be the reason for this?

OK.

Got my 6800 AquaGFX cooler and I have one question...

HOW THE HELL DO YOU MOUNT IT?

Sorry... It came with metal and plastic screws wrapped in bubblewrap. No instructions. Did searches here and on google and can't find anything. Googles acting weird today.

Any guides that someone can point me to?

Thanks

Yeah I sure have "noticed" :( The only thing I can think is that their cases in Europe are smaller in width than ours. Otherwise it is unforgivable...

What instructions did you need? I thought it was pretty self explanatory. Remove old HSF, clean chips, apply your favorite goo, bolt it up, check imprint, add more or less goo if necessary. What kind of directions do you want?

What screws are used and where.

Wow! Why is everyone so short with me today?

Just want to be safe. I am guessing that the metal screws go around the GPU and the plastic everywhere else. Plastic washers probally go on the back of the card on the metal screws.

I don't want to fook up my 400 card and I never mounted something like this before. Like everything else I am sure there are little nuances that experience provides. ( Like checking the imprint..)

on my x800 cooler the plastic screws go in the middle where the gpu is. Then the metal w/plastic washers go on the outter areas by the ram

Are you talking about the Aqua Computer 6800 cooler or something else? This is totally different from all that I tried to research. Totally opposite....

Back in the old days of the [H] you could ask "stupid questions." I really don't know how to attach a waterblock to a card that cools the memory also. Thought I could get some insight. Maybe a link. Did a search here and it pointed me to a 121 page AC thread.

I really don't think I was out of line by asking my original question. Got phuckin flamed enough today. Quit my battlefield clan today for the same shit. Basically amounts to 2 years of blood/sweat/tears completely wasted.

You know what!

nevermind...

See my PM for the formal apology  I just had a bad day and was in a hurry out the door. I also explained in my PM what to do. :)

You want to use the same screws that held the old cooler on the GPU (four total) as well as the back plate from the stock cooler. The plastic bolts go around the ram and mosfets and should be tightened with great care not to bend the card. Make sure you pull the four bolts down around the GPU in a man which is even.

I found it was very easy just to use the spring loaded ones that held the stock cooler on the GPU rather than the supplied metal screws, plus mine didn't fit the thread.

CAREFULL - I messed up my 6800 Ultra mounting this. I either messed it up my using AS5 that got in the wrong place and shorted out some stuff or i mounted it too tight doing some damage. The card works, but only in safe mode. It wont work with any drivers and only at low resolutions. Damn!

I had to spend another 700+ on a new vid and Mobo. (7800 gtx and pci-e mobo)
Here is what i learned:
- do not use AS5 on your vid card unless you are experienced.
- Tighten from corner to corner slowly (only hand tight)
- use a piece of electrical tape to hold the back plate on the card to align the screw holes up.
- use the orginal screws on the 4 main holes, use the white plastic on the rest.

AC Berlin is mainly doing this project - stay tuned :D
Teaser was done by me *g*

So does this mean you have to enter in your crapiest of computers in order to get pimped? ( I still have some functional pentium 133 machines, PLEASE PIMP MY RIG! )

If so think this is the wrong thread, as most of us are already pretty pimped out.

Hey, does anyone know what the Docking Module for the EVO radiators does or how it is used? (not the one that you can use to mount on top of your case, but the one that just looks like side brackets or something...)

I'm pretty sure the one you saw was for the top of the case

I have seen them what do you want to know? They are U shaped and were originally designed to allow two Evo radiators to be piggybacked to each other. However, that isn't what most people use them for ;)

Yes I did........ You do not use all of the parts that come with the kit.

Step 1 - Remove existing heatsink and fan, SAVE the four chrome screws with springs and backplate.
Step 2 - Clean the mess off the card
Step 3 - Reapply thermal compound (I did the GPU, RAM, and MOSFETS
Step 4 - Install block with the supplied plastic screws such that it pulls the entire block down to where you can get the four chrome screws with springs to reach through the block and into backplate. BE CAREFULL NOT TO OVERTIGHTEN THE PLASTIC SCREWS AS YOU WILL BEND THE CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Step 5 - Tighten the screws around the GPU and secure (snug up while not overtightening) the plastic screws for the RAM.

This process worked for me. The first go around ended up with a severely BENT card due to overtightening the plastic screws and/or not using the correct screws and backplate around the GPU. Works GREAT NOW!

I think will help you install the card. Sorry it took so long to find. This was many pages back. Rick posted this and it worked for me. I am sure it will work for you too. :)

Just a quick note to advise all that I think the current pumps being shipped from Sharka have version 3.5 controllers.

In order to diminish the radiator of the potential transformers too, you need to likewise squeeze together small pliers around the pins and remove

in that translation, how exactly do you do the above? Or is the translation correct?

Yeah those things... I have never seen any in use. I am kinda curious. They might just make good accent pieces if your case is aluminum and you have the radiator mounted outside...

They are not aluminum. They are made out of stainless steel. Most people use them to mount radiators in places they wouldn't normally go. It gives a really easy way to mount an Evo radiator vertically, on the bottom or top of case, or even on the side of the case. :)

I know I'm way behind the crowd here, but I finally had time today to flash the new OS on my Aquaero. I followed Shoggy's guide to the letter and it went very smoothly. Thanks Shoggy!

So how do you like the new AquaSuite?

Here is the new English manual for the version 3.5 Aquastream controller. :D

Also it appears that AC has published a new Aquaero V4 manual though it is in German. So we should see an English version soon :) If you peruse the manual you can see that they talk about the use of the Multi-Switch and the Tubemeter so it appears that the release of these Aquaero accessories is imminent.

Here is a cute little program called Samurize that allows you to customize your desktop to constantly update Aquaero information in real time. :D

The latest Aquaero OS Loader version 2.03. Please make sure you use Shoggy's update procedure exactly or you will be sorry! Please also note that you need to have Microsoft .NET Framework installed BEFORE you upgrade your OS!

The latest AquaSuite Beta 4.2 dated 6-10-2005.

Hey all. Been following the thread for quite a while now but I could use a bit of help.

I'm getting ready to go ahead and get the parts needed to do an Aqua system but with all of the new stuff and different parts available, I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out exactly what I'll need.

I've already gone ahead and cut a hole in the top of my case for the fans and grill (I went with the 240) and installed (right now I simply have the fans blowing air OUT of the case since it's still air cooled) them.

I know I need a radiator, reservoir, tubing and a bunch of others but what exactly, please?
I can't seem to find an aqua kit on Sharka that's complete. I wouldn't mind going piece by piece and getting it a bit more customized but what do you all recommend?

Well the only thing that a kit would get you over the piece purchase is a box you will throw away, an a AC case badge, and some thermal grease which you would propbably throw out with the box. ;). However, Sharka usually throws those case badges in with any large AC order anyway.

So lets get down to the fun, okay?

Do you want an Evo 240 or a BI Pro II radiator? Do you intend to ever get an Aquaero? And what case are you using?

No problem :) It seems that no one at AC is thinking about an official english guide.

Top Nurse, bigger window? - LOL, go home... ;)
I think you know pimp my ride from MTV so you can imagine what we are doing here :D

You guys plan on putting this up on local TV?

Not suprised on the "Official English AC Guide" thing as they haven't updated the English website for so long they might as well just delete it. Besides, the new Aquaero's are being flashed before sale by AC with the new OS and firmware, correct? Wes told me that Sharka had to pull some strings to get the last 5 Aquaero's here with the old OS and firmware, otherwise it was going to be another 3 weeks before he could bring them over. So this problem with updating the OS shouldn't be a problem quite shortly. :D And of course most of the English reading world stops by here to peruse what's going on in the AC scene so who needs it, right?

The Multi-Switch for the version 4 Aquaero will be available this week! Which means some of them will be here in the USA in about 2-3 weeks. :D For those who don't keep up on this it is a device that allows the Aquaero computer to turn on and off up to eight different devices through the software or directly from the Aquaero display unit. It appears to be available in two different configurations being with a mount or without a mount (probably for a 3.5" bay).

Also the AquagraFX 6800 cooler does not fit the 7800 class cards and AC says that there will be a new cooler for it soon. :)

The TwinPlex Pro is scheduled to be released for sale this week or at the latest next week. As soon as it is released I will post some pics to the site for your perusal. There should be some of these coolers here in a few weeks as well. :p

Hehe, no comment

As I said before: forget everything you have seen and heard about it :D

Well I got my evo 1800 today and I am cuious... Will there be any adverse effects on trying to mount it with the intake and outake parallel to the ground rather than perpendicular? (looks like it might be harder to fill that way, but after it is full I could mount it this way without putitng any extra strain on the pump?

Okay, why isn't a step by step guide? If you know how, can you post a step by step guide, because the german translated guide, some sentences doesn't make sense. It would be nice to have a step by step guide w/ pic.

Or else, if Shark do so much business w/ Aqua, shouldn't they at least try to ask Aqua to post a step by step guide, either on their web site or on the product?

Well how about enlightening us wayward souls? It's supposed to be released for sale in 3 days and I already have estimated retail prices of the product in German marks. So please enlighten us silly English reading people. ;)
