Well, as most tech talks, you get a lot of when its done, were looking into it and I can say right now.

However today we got a few anwers a little better than that.

We found out the patch is in its testing stage right now. Still no ETA but its confirmed its being tested.

We confirmed that there is actually 800 different things they worked on however not all will be in the notes because a lot of that is optizimation.

We found out that they are expecting a good performance increase this patch from all they optimizing they did. They said they did A LOT. They would not however give estimations of what % increase due to so many different cofigurations of PCs.

We found out they did a lot of balance changes as well. One of them being balancing the different "tiers". Sounds like tier 2 will be a viable option now!

I asked if they could atleast confirm they have started on direct X10 version of this game and I didnt like the answer. He said there is no good way to answer that question, what the heck does that mean?

I asked if water maps will be put back in ranked games after the patch. He said well see how the changes go. Whatever that means.

I asked whats next in line for them after this patch, units?, dx10?, expantion pack?, another patch or vacation time and the reply was it wouldnt be a vacation thats for sure.

Big Changes were made to dual monitor as we all know but no details would be discussed.

Sounds like they made tons of changes and thats why its taking longer than expected which is probably a good thing.

This is a newb question. How do I upgrade my commander pass Tier1? I can get him upgraded to Tier1 than I can't figure how to get advanced tiers for him. Any insight?

OK I am a new player with this game. Also have MS so Im slo.

but I have 2-3ghz 771 cpu's running 8 hd's on scsi 2 channel raid and x1950 Pro so I should be able to play this game I hope. Now all I have to wory about is internet speed.

It looks like I need 6ghz and 384 mhz upload speed.

Im not a multi player yet with BF2 and SC I have not even tried it yet. The booklet leaves a lot to the __________ in order to figure this game out. So I am still trying to figure this out yet. Have you any advice for me? or good suggestions.

Thanks in advance and is the lattest up grade the 1.41?///???

You have to go to the upgrade option when you have your commander selected (same as cybran shields). Then you can select from left arm, center unit, and right arm, there is one upgrage called engineering suit that will give you tech 2 options.

Your commander starts as gimped T1.
To the left of the build menu, past the tier selection spot, is the upgrade box. Select that and a box will pop out for you to select the upgrade selection. Shields, teleport, build expansion, missiles/nukes, lots of things to upgrade depending on your faction. All have a T2/T3 build upgrade (build T2 then upgrade again for T3). The T3 upgraded commander is the fastest building unit in the game.

Regen, cloak/stealth, shields, heavy/area shields can make your commander damn hard to kill.
Weapon upgrades make it kill shit very well.

This game is so great.
I got too cocky lastnight and the AI kicked my ass so badly.
All I could do was sit there and watch as he would send Air squads at me, followed by Water and Land. After a while he mixed it up and started to send distraction squads while other squads attacked from behind. Awesome AI! At one point, 2 of the AI where sending so many nukes at me that my Defender missiles couldn't keep up and missed one, killing off my main base. Lucky for me that base was mirrored is by alpha site base and I was able to recover quickly.

The best moment for me last night was 2.5 hours into a battle when I was able to wall off the main route will dozens of turrets and defense and watching as the AI shifted his main output away from land attack to Air Attack. I ended up haveing a crazy long and large air battle that eneded with me winning! :)

I was doing a 2v2 (self+AI vs 2 AI) as UEF on a this map. Friendly AI (UEF) was supreme, one enemy (Aeon) was on horde, other on tech (cybran).

Got to about 45 minutes of teching up, building up, and some sparring when I suddenly notice a monkeylord. Past my defenses (Id appropriated the front entrance and had built it up with turrents, SAMs, and shields) a monkeylord crawling up the ramp. It only had about 10% health left but had walked right past my defense barrier. Fuck. Couple of SCUs finished it but itd wiped most of my front defenses.

About 5 minutes of rebuilding that front later "strategic launch detected". Double fuck. Please tell me its going for my ally. Please tell me...Nope. Wiped 600mass/second of income off the map. I was down to 150. Dumped the SCUs I had into rebuilding and paused work on some fat boys I had going. Basically paused everything but a single anti-nuke and the resource rebuilding.

Was back up to about 500 income when I hear another launch. AI had gotten smarter. Nuked my front defenses. About that time I notice a GC on my front steps. Itd wiped the defenses to let the GC in. A pause and RAPID building effort netted just enough time to build strat bombers and drop the GC. Soon as the GC drops a CZAR appears over the front gate. Rebuilding Triads moved down the priority list for a WALL of SAMs. 6 SCUs+ put up a nice wall of the things and brough it down.

between the czar (which had dropped right outside the base) and the GC I had enough mass to shoot up rebuilding my economy to the 800s AND complete a couple battleships. From that point I just outbuilt the AIs. A mavor, a nuke launcher, 6 roaches, 4 monkeylords, 6 battleships, and 8+ fat boys in successive waves toasted the enemy base(s) at the 2 hour mark. I ran out of ideas of things to build at around the 1:45 mark so I took all of my SCUs and put up a second mavor in less than 10 minutes.

I haven't played since that game, so I should have the replay around if you want to watch your computer die of exhaustion trying to play 3 AIs+self with a 500 unit limit that definently got bounced against by all involved.

My Epic
(Warning long read)

I was on the Crossroads map (which is in my opinion, the best map in the game) and continued my normal tactic of turtling and then attacking in force. I had set my 5 tech 1 engineers to work on creating a massive amount of Mass and energy storage, half my Tech 3 Engineers were building large numbers of T3 Reactors and Energy to Mass converters. The other half of my T3 Engineers were busy making about 40 Medium Artillery, some point defense, lots of overlapping shields and lots of SAM launchers a couple hundred meters outside of my main base.

Another group of engineers were busy creating several Heavy Artillery to pick off any large forces that might come my way. Since I had set it up that it was 2 Hord AI vs me, I knew it wouldn’t be long before the fun started. After I had 5 heavy artillery, I build an omni sensor so the guns would be able to fire off. It’s a really good thing I did when I did because as soon as the sensor finished I saw a large attack force of about 20 grey squares only a few km’s from my defenses. The heavy guns started to fire off and soon only 3 of the grey squares were still coming (obviously SCU’s), my point and medium arty took them out.

As I started to build some quantum gates to get a few SCU’s of my own, my engineers started to build some forward staging posts. A quick look at my map showed several grey triangles heading my way, “sending some bombers, huh” I thought. Oh they sent some air ships alright, try about 6 Heavy gunships backed by Tech 3 bombers and a couple of the Flying Saucer air ships. Needless to say my shields, even overlapping, were no match for this onslaught and before my SAM’s were able to take them all out, they had killed off about 30 mins of work.

I quickly reinforced my shields and started to build some more Land Factories. At the forward staging post I build more shields, medium artillery and SAMs. By this time my 4 SCU’s were all built and being improved and supported by several engineers to speed things up. Some other engineers were building 2 Fatboy mobile land factories while others were building a wall backed by shields and other defense to draw a line in the sand that went from 1 cliff in the valley to the other. I had built an Air Factory and had some heavy gun ships doing patrols of my assets just to be safe.

My computer was starting to be taxed by all this and the lag was starting to show more and more, but it was still playable. My Fatboy’s, SCU (upgraded to max levels), a small group of Heavy Tanks, all supported by Heavy gunships and T3 Interceptors was ready and making their way to the forward wall line. The AI had stepped up their attacks and wave after wave of bombers, airships and ground forces were hammering my defenses but thanks to my overkill building style everything was just holding. My engineers were forced to build several more Strategic Missile Defense Launchers as the AI was sending nukes my way every other minute. Having learned from the past mistakes, not a single nuke had got me yet.

It was time, to start my attack, but first I had a few targets to take out. I had been building Nuke launchers and The Super Heavy Long Range Artillery while doing everything else in preparation of my strike. I started to pick off the AI’s Artillery and nuke sites, seems they weren’t protected and soon huge explosions scattered around the arena marking my start of offense. My attack force started to move towards what I considered the weaker of the 2 AI’s and I sent some nukes ahead of me to clean out anything that might be cloaked or in my way.

About half way to the Targets base a large attack force of gunships and bombers attacked my group, the personal shields protected most of my force and the interceptor and surface to air defenses took them out with very limited losses on my part. My tactic of nuke area, then advance, nuke area, then advance was working out great and it looked like I would have no problems with this AI. Then the Monkeylords showed up, 2 of them. Now anyone who has fought with these or against these things know they are not that strong, until they power up their main weapon. The shields on my Fatboys vanished very quickly and since Monkeylords are hidden from sensors the Fatboys were ambushed and not able defend them selves. My main force started to fire back and BOOM one lord went down. BOOOM… one Fatboy on my side went down. Boom, boom, boom, several of my tanks popped. My SCU’s all focused their fire and the Monkeylord exploded in a ball of fire!

I steam rolled with nukes and artillery fire into the AI’s main base, ignored everything and focused all my fire on the Commander! BOOM the base was destroyed as the AI commander’s core breached. My forces were able to destroy some of the base remains before they went down to the AI’s ally. While I was attacking I was also creating more troops and now had a force 2 times the size as the first. I had also created a few more nuke launchers and had dozens of engineers supporting the production of more nukes. This time I plan to make this a quick strike and knew that nuking was the best way to get it done.

My Super Heavy Long Range Artillery, now 6 of them, rained down shells to the furthest parts of the map, random explosions marked the depletion of the Enemy’s resources and locations. I ordered my attack force to the AI’s base and started to nuke every grey square I could hit. When my attack force entered the AI’s valley, I ordered the engineers to build another Omni sensor and some medium artillery support to lock down the area behind the attack force. Once the Omni sensor was completed I saw why they call it HORD AI.

Dozens and Dozens of grey squares were leaving the AI’s base, which was huge compared to his ally’s base. This massive army was heading right towards my attack force and it outnumbers me by what seemed like 3 fold. I quickly re-aimed every long range nuke and artillery I had at the blob of death about to intercept my forces. Several beeps rang out as my nukes entered the air, my guns all fired in unison, 6 yellow dots flew through the air. On the front lines the attack force was faster then I had hoped and were not clashing with the Army. As my computer struggled to show me the great battle without lag, dozens of bright lights flashed as Shells and nukes smacked down on to the tail end of the blob. Slowly the enemy vanished from the field. My attack force was filled with a Fatboys and the shields were helping keep my losses low.

More nukes rained down on the field, and I now focused my artillery on the base it’s self hoping to hit the commander. All of a sudden a huge explosion went off in the AI’s base, he’s run out of Tactical Missiles Defenders, I think to my self. I aim all my nukes at different parts of his base. My attack force starts to pick off the otter base defenses and more and more explosions happen… Why haven’t I won yet? I must have hit the commander with a nuke by this point I have fired like 15 of them at that base!

My forces, much reduced in size, and now with no air support survey the area, but no commander. Where is this guy? All of a sudden I notice that a large number of grey triangles has just entered into my bases omni sensor range. I scroll back to my base and see dozens of attack ships and artillery shells are hitting my outer defenses and winning! Oh My God! That crafty bastard, the commander is now located in the remains of his allies base. I send over some spy planes to scout the old base and find that the commander has rebuilt it is launching attacks from there.

His gunships and bombers have broken through my defense and since all my engineers are with my attack force at the other side of the map I have no way to quickly build more SAM launchers. I quickly target all 8 of my nukes at the new base and fire. I also aim all my artillery at it. Meanwhile my attack force is moving towards the new base. His ships were just the first wave it seems as 2 Monkeylords appear out of no where and start to rip apart everything just outside my base. The Nukes aren’t hitting the target, he’s defending him self well. Strategic Launch Detected, comes over my speakers, I think nothing of it though.

Quickly I start to upgrade my commander just to be on the safe side. He’s behind 4 overlapping shields but I figure him having a 5th layer is a good idea. I look back to see how close my attack force is getting… WTF where are the ships, what happened to them all? Only 2 tanks are left and I quickly see why, he’s shooting artillery at them. Beeeep, beeep, beep, beep, beep. His Nuke must be getting close, I scroll back and to my shock there isn’t any counter missiles being fired. I quickly scroll over to my launchers and see that the Airships and Monkeylord that’s left has just taken out my nuke protection.

Quickly I order my commander to RUN away from the base. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM the nuke hits! All I can do is sit there, my jaw on the floor! Boom, boom, boom, chain reactions happen all over the base as all my reactors explode one by one taking out my land factories, air factories, everything. My last second move order his saved my commanders life, his personal shield kept him alive and he’s only down to half life. I pause the game for a second, 3.5 hours I have been playing and my heart is beating really fast! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN TO ME! I unpause and order the commander to one of the scattered remains of my outer defenses. I had lots of MASS and ENERGY reserves, that was until it was all destroyed. Round up any engineer and ship that is still alive and send them to the commander.

Before I can even start to regroup, my guns start to open fire, I quickly look over… A Monkeylord has come to finish the job… Knowing things are finished I lean back from the computer, take a drink of coke and watch as a huge thermal nuclear explosion goes off as my commander is hit by the main beam laser.

If you are still reading this I hope you enjoyed hearing about this battle as much as I had enjoyed it. My shame of losing after I had worked so hard was countered by being a part of such an amazing battle. This is why I love this game. But I really need to get a better computer!

Triad are crap. They really aren't a dependable line of defense, especially late game. Also, You shouldn't have built several Fat boys at one like that. One fat boy could have owned his ground experimental, and pretty much everything else if you had air support. that can get tough near his base with all the AA, but with the fat boy's range, and enough t3 fighters, you shouldn't have a problem. Also, it's helpful to have more of your mass income coming through RAS from SCUs.

When me and my buddy play lately the game likes to dysnc about 3/4 of the way through for some reason. Game used to lag bad but we patched and it seems much better, but still dysyncing and it hasnt always done it, but cant think of anything that changed that would affect it.

Can anyone tell me why this game is so good? I didn't play much, but it didn't do it for me. Units are small and the sea battles are crazy. You can't even see who is attacking. C&C looks much better.

SupCom takes more skill than CC3.

The units aren't that small...what resolution are you playing at? Also you know you can zoom in and out right?

dunno abt that, i played sup comm and tried playing C&C3 after that, it seems so damn shallow/repetitive. not starting a flame war, but C&C just didn't do it for me.

I've been playing C&C 3 a lot and I gotta say the game just isn't that fun. You start playing it and are like OMFG SWEET gfx look awesome and omfg I love it all... But then it just gets old because you constantly have to do the same thing to win a game online. The people online have already made bulletproof strategies and you cannot win if they know how to play. Basically I just get slaughtered or I slaughter a pure hardcore noob.(Like 1st game eva)

I wanna play Supreme Commander but I only have a E6300 and a 8800GTS so I am afraid...

overclock to 3.0+ and crank up the settings. You'll be more than fine.
\\vilya at 1600x1200 and settings maxed gets 25-30fps until very very late game.

You will be fine running supcom on stock settings... my friend has a E6300 OCed to 3.3GHZ and a 7900GT and he runs supcom super fast. Im sure a E6300 running @ 1.8-2.2ghz wont have any problem as well.

If anyone missed the deal at GoGamer, EBGames and Gamestop has it on sale for $29.99 this week. Just picked it up myself and installing it as I type.

Just got this for ~$30, so I can finally play online. If anybody is looking for another person to play with, buddy me (same handle as forum). Dunno how great I am compared to others but ive been playing off and on since beta.

Pretty new at it myself - have played a few skirmishes to get used to building orders. Though I've got to ask (and I don't want to read 40 pages of thread), is there a way to zoom the left hand screen in using the right hand screen as a sort of minimap?

So far, the AI hasn't been too challenging. Kind of a bummer, as I'll probably get waxed online quite rapidly.

I had the same experience with the AI and expectaions of online play. So far though the matching system in ranked 1v1 games has done pretty well and I've had some fun matches against similarily experienced/skilled players. Custom games are a different story, it seems to be a lot of 2v2 and a very wide range of skills...some of those matches can last +60mins where as the ranked 1v1's I've played haven't been over 25.

Good game!

basically, both screens are the main map. you can do the same things from either. just zoom one in and leave the other zoomed out far enough to cover what you want to cover.

/|\ NEW TOYS!
Will download and play with it a bit as soon as I get home from work/school shit. Read through that AI changelog. Looks like fun.

He sure releases enough updates each day. I personally use the merged version as I think Giskard's ThirdlawPlusAI - Rommel is the best (killed Sorians "very hard" version in stats as well). Too bad these AIs seem not to work on the Battle Isles R2 map. At least not how they did on a vanilla map.

Edit: Scratch that. His newer versions now work perfect on the map.

New patch is out, has many performance fixes and gameplay changes. I also noticed a slight increase in graphic quality.

Can you upgrade the weapons AND the construction-arm at the same time? Or, do you have to choose which path to take? (Example: Amazing firepower with T1 build skill, or amazing build speed with low firepower....ect)
